USS FEYNMAN: "Intermission"

by Kristen Gant 1-8-1998

Stardate: 100108.1036
Scene: Bridge
MD: 6.1800

It was an hour after Krysa should have relinquished her station to Lt. Teeta and Beta shift, still she sat there watching the power levels and Koreth's crew working on the Delphi. It wasn't that she didn't trust him not to do his job properly, but she was interested to see what exactly his new modifications would do to her energy allocation relays.

She watched Teeta standing patiently at a sub station at the side of the bridge .. Her thoughts wandered to Jeanine Garret and she wondered how the woman was doing. She missed seeing the blonde woman ..

A flashing light caught her attention and she watched as the energy requirements for the Delphi suddenly dropped and then slowly went back up. She grinned, as she could see that the Delphi array was already operating more efficiently then a few minutes ago.

<Lieutenant Commander Koreth to the Bridge.>

As Zane answered the CEO, Krysa stood and turned to Teeta who moved to take her place. The Deltan aops quickly began to run a check of all systems, familiarizing herself with the FEYNMAN's current operations. Krysa knew she'd need no information from her, so she moved to sit in Maril's unoccupied chair just to the Captain's right.

"Bridge out." Zane finished his brief exchange with Tarrant. Then he turned to look at Krysa.

She smiled, "How about we go get a cup of hot, black coffee?"

"You don't drink black coffee," He commented.

She shrugged, "Okay maybe you can drink black coffee and I'll have some hot chocolate. We won't be to the convoy for a while .."

USS FEYNMAN: "Going to Dinner"

by Andrew Catterick 1-8-1998

SD: 100108.1700
MD: 6.1820
Scene: 10-Forward

"I can smell the sugar in that from here." Bat said with a wrinkled nose. "How can you drink that syrup?"

Krysa raised her mug with a smile. "Sorry for being civilized. You’d rather I drink that rancid swill you two barbarians are drinking?"

"Swill? Swill? Listen to me young lady I’ll have you know that empires, Civilizations, were built on the trade of this swill!" Zane raised an eyebrow wondering just what civilizations owed there existence to the coffee bean but decided to keep quiet rather than contradict his uncle when he was making a point. Or trying to anyways. "Coffee is the drink of the nobility," he concluded smugly, "everyone knows that."

Zane looked up at the waiter who had come over to see what the commotion was. "Could I have another mug of your fine swill?"

Bat put his face into his hands and sighed. Why did he even bother.

For her part Krysa leaned back in her chair with a contented smile. It was good to see the two of them talking let alone sitting at the same table. Things still weren’t how they should be but they were much better than when Bat had first returned to the ship. They had been civil when they had to but it was apparent they had stayed out of each other’s way. Men! She thought with a sigh. They could be so childish sometimes. No matter. The worst seemed to be over and they were friends again. She knew both thought the other had been in the wrong but they seemed to have come to an unspoken agreement to leave it in the past. She thought that was probably not the most healthy solution but it worked. And with Admiral Steele having put Bat back on active duty as a consultant that particular problem was unlikely to arise again.

[Bridge to Captain Zane.]

"Zane here."

[We’re approaching the convoy sir.]

"Slow to impulse and send the recognition code. I’ll be up shortly."

[Aye sir.]

------------------

Scene:Bridge

"Status." Zane ordered as he entered the bridge.

Lt. Jerran rose from the command chair as he began his brief report. "ETA 3 minutes. Convoy consists of 10 medium sized merchants and three escorts. DAGGER, a light cruiser is the lead, and SPEAR and JAVELIN both destroyers following on port and starboard flanks. They’re traveling at warp 2. At this speed they are 4 days from Issahi." The FCO finished as he reconfigured the helm settings to his own preferences.

"Hail DAGGER."

"On screen."

"I’m Captain Zane of the Federation starship FEYNMAN. May we approach your convoy." He asked formally. Jerran had already had contact with the DAGGER. As soon as FEYNMAN had hit the convoy’s sensor perimeter the Romulan’s had hailed them.

[Centurion Harik of the Romulan cruiser DAGGER. Welcome FEYNMAN. My superiors have informed me that you will be joining our convoy until…for some of the journey to Issahi.] The Romulan captain replied making it perfectly clear that he had been informed of exactly what FEYNMAN was to be up to. "Would you be interested in joining our formation. We seem to have enough coverage but I find the battle reports from the Issahi concerning and another ship would certainly help let any stray Reaver ship we are not to be trifled with.]

"Of course Centurion Harik we would be honored to assist in any way we can."

[Excellent Captain Zane. Would you and your officers care to dine on my ship this evening?]

"Again we’d be honored Centurion."

[Good. I’ll expect you at 20:00.]

"I look forward to it. FEYNMAN out." As the screen flickered back to the star field Zane brought up the tactical display and watched as the two Romulan destroyers moved forward and Jerran slid FEYNMAN into the stern slot. "I imagine you’ll be joining us Centurion B’Vanni?" The fact that Centurion Harik had not even acknowledged B’Vanni was not lost on anyone especially the glowering Romulan.

"Yes captain I *will*." The Romulan replied heading for the turbolift.

"We’ll see you on the flight deck at 19:45" Zane added just before the doors whisked close. "Well this has to be a first."

-----------------------

Scene: Flightdeck.

As the last of the officers strode up NOGURA’s ramp Bat and two crewman pulling a grav sled with three crates on it approached from the cargo access doors. "Hold on a second!" Bat called out.

Zane stopped midway up the ramp at the call. "Whats up?" He asked Bat eyeing the crates and not wanting to know.

"Some gifts for our Romulan friends."

"What kind of gifts?"

"Some Terran ale."

"Terran ale? What would they want with Terran ale. Romulan Ale is far better."

"For us maybe. But don’t you think they might get sick of their own stuff. And there aren’t exactly hundreds of trade delegations showing up on Romulus all the time. They’ll be thrilled with this."

"So thrilled they might send some Romulan ale over in thanks."

Bat scratched his chin. "Well you know I hadn’t thought of that. Now they just might."

"Uh huh." He jerked a thumb towards NOGURA. "Alright. Get it aboard fast."

<<<NRPG>>>

I’ll let someone post our arrival…

USS FEYNMAN: "Introductions"

by Andrew Catterick 1-17-1998

SD: 100117.1400 MD: 6.2000 Scene: Flightdeck, Romulan Cruiser SPEAR

Captain Zane raised an eyebrow as he led the FEYNMAN contingent down NOGURA’s ramp to the shrill of the Romulan equivalent of the Bosun’s Whistle. He had expected to be met by the vessel’s first officer, maybe the captain, but this? Harik was really laying on the pageantry. Not only was he here with his first officer but his side party consisted of no less than 4 senior officers and a platoon of Burly members of the Romulan Army’s 3rd Regiment. Unlike Earth, Romulus never developed a marine corp so instead of carrying marines as Starfleet vessels did the Romulan navy carried the army for its assaults. Either way the 3rd regiment was an honor that your run-of-the-mill light cruiser captain would never know. Zane had gone over the limited information the Starfleet database had on Harik and there had been no hint of any importance. But to have these men and woman aboard certainly pointed to family or political connection. Probably both and probably very high. ONI would salivate at this information. And if Harik was as important as the guard symbolized it was a very clear indication of how important the Romulans held their new relationship with the Issahi.

"Permission to come aboard sir." Zane asked formally as he came to a halt in front of his Romulan counterpart.

"Granted sir." Harik replied just as formally before smiling warmly and extending a hand as casually as if the handshake was an ancient Romulan custom and not the Human one he was emulating. "Welcome to DAGGER Captain Zane. Allow me to present my officers. HHril my first officer," Gitak was the stereotypical Romulan, big and stocky with eyes that missed nothing. His name meant ‘proud one’ and it was obvious it fit the man. "Jaieh, my security officer." The Romulan woman nodded. "Maiek, my intelligence officer." As the first officer was large this man seemed to be the opposite in every attribute, except in the eyes. "Rhiana, my navigator." Rhiana was simply beautiful, there was no other way to describe. She nodded to Zane with a small, but warm smile. "And Vaebn, our engineer."

Zane now turned to his staff and repeated the ceremony, introducing each of the senior staff.

"Welcome to all of you." Harik said as the introductions concluded. "If you’ll accompany me to my dining room." He gestured towards the exit and with a hand lightly on Zane’s back began to walk beside the grey man. "Dinner will begin in 45 minutes. Until then I thought it might be enjoyable for us all to become acquainted over some fine Terran ale I keep stocked." He looked at Zane slyly. "You never know when you are going to have company."

USS FEYNMAN: "Hey! I was enjoying my dinner!"

by Kristen Gant 1-23-1998

Stardate: 100123.0956
Scene: Romulan Dinner
MD: 6:2030

Krysa had thought the words, 'dinner is served' would never be said. And technically they never were. But at some point one of Herik's crew did come in and speak several Romulan syllable's which Krysa could only assume were of the same general idea.

She felt relieved, it was at least one step closer to ending this meeting .. not to mention that she was in a constant state of hunger!

The FEYNMAN's Ops officer rarely met a meal she didn't like, and the Romulan cuisine was no exception. It was colorful and festive .. and very tasty. Who would have thought stuffy Romulan's would be have such pleasing food, both in taste and in aesthetics. She dug in with genuine appreciation.

During the meal, Krysa found herself better at ease and was able to chit chat with the Romulan beside her. She was beginning to feel more herself.

That was when Captain Zane's combadge sounded. They all looked up at him in surprise.

He looked apologetically at the Dagger's CO, and tapped his badge, "We are in the middle of dinner, this had better be important."

<Sir, we've turned the Delphi array on the Dagger and ..>

Krysa couldn't hear anymore as the dining room began to dissolve before her eyes. When they rematerialized, she found the chair underneath her gone and she dropped awkwardly to the floor of a darkened room.

As her eyes adjusted she took note of several oddly dressed, and heavily armed Romulans pointing wicked looking weapons at her and her dinner companions.

"What in Areinnye is going on here!" Herik roared.

A door swished open and all heads turned to see who was coming in. The jovial looking Romulan who walked in with great flourish, "I am of Stefanh tr'Khnialmane. And welcome to the Ja'telaih."

There were several gasps around her, but Krysa's eyes focused on Jerran. She was dying to see his reaction to this!

Stefanh chuckled, "Don't bother trying your weapons. They were all disabled in the beam over." He moved to the FEYNMAN's tall CO, "Captain Zane? I've been looking forward to meeting you. Your FCO speaks highly of you."

"You will not get away with this!" B'vanni hissed.

"We already have, my dear. So let's not ruin the visit with unpleasantries."

USS FEYNMAN: "Follow that Car!"

by Andrew Catterick 1-26-1998

SD: 100126.1400
MD: 6:2030
Scene: Bridge, USS FEYNMAN

Lieutenant Major Stark was having an interesting evening after all. One he had not wished for. Having virtually the entire senior staff beamed out from underneath his nose was not a career builder. "I need some answers people."

"SPEAR and JAVELIN are coming around. All three Romulan ships have raised shields. The two destroyers have locked weapons on us. DAGGER is demanding an explanation."

-----------------------------------
Scene: Ja'telaih
>"We already have, my dear. So let's not ruin the visit with
>unpleasantness. I must apologize for interrupting dinner. We tried to
>allow enough time so that you Starfleet officers could sample Romulan
>quzine."
>
>Herik's eyes were ablaze, but he managed to retain control better than
>his Senior Centurion superior. B'Vanni's lack of age and possibly
>experience was showing. She was used to having control and order, and
>now she had lost both in seconds.
>
>Tarrant slowly attempted to open communications through his comm badge
>to no avail. He glanced towards Varbn who shook his head to indicate a
>similar attempt.
>
>"Perhaps you would consider sending us back so we might enjoy dessert."
>stated Captain Zane, who remained rigid despite the comment.
>
>Stefanh laughed.

One of Stefanh’s officers and whispered to him. "How very annoying." He said in response. "But not totally surprising." He turned back to Zane. "It seems captain that the Romulan ships have decided FEYNMAN is to blame for the current mischief. I’m afraid they have targeted their weapons on your ship and have threatened to destroy her if Harik and his officers are not returned."

"If they destroy FEYNMAN they’ll kill Harik and the others…"

"Surely they won’t do that?" Stefanh asked with a bemused smile. "Of course they will captain. If I may borrow an expression, we are a all or nothing type of people. And I’ll wager that who ever is sitting on the bridge of DAGGER is silently praying to whatever gods he holds that he will be given the chance to do just that."

Zane looked over to Harik who agreed with a small nod.

"You can stop this. You’ve got all of us why waste lives needlessly."

"Because he is mad." B’Vanni snarled. "He will watch them die with smile."

"There is much to be angry about." Stefanh answered, changing the meaning of the word. "But no one will die. Today. I hope you find your accommodations comfortable." With a respectful nod to Zane and Harik he turned and left.

-------------------------------------
Scene: Bridge, USS FEYNMAN

"Weapons locked." Neelan confirmed as his TAC panel began to beep. "New contact! Bearing 297 mark 48."

"On screen." Stark ordered. All eyes on the bridge were glued to the screen as the JA’TELAIH materialized and slid through the middle of the convoy before cloaking itself again.

"Mr. Garrett?"

"Got it sir! Signal coming in strong." She replied referring to the hidden tracking beacon that had been placed on JA’TELAIH.

"Helm. Lock onto that signal and pursue!"

"Aye sir."

"Romulan vessels have not powered down their weapons but they have broken the lock on FEYNMAN. DAGGER is following us. SPEAR and JAVELIN are remaining with the convoy."

-------------------------------
MD: 6.2215
Scene: Bridge, JA’TELAIH

"Watch." Stefanh ordered. "New course 000 mark 0."

"Executing."

Almost immediately the image of FEYNMAN and of DAGGER behind her changed course to follow.

"We have changed course seven times and each time your ship has matched us."

"It seems you have under estimated our DELPHI array."

"Perhaps." Stefanh conceded. "It is time for something more drastic."

Jerran remained silent.

"Yes, it is time I introduced you and your friends to the Reaver’s masters."

-----------------------------------
Scene: Bridge, USS FEYNMAN

"We’ve lost the signal sir." Neelan reported.

"Full stop." Stark ordered immediately. "How did we lose the signal?" He asked. For two hours they had been able to follow JA’TELAIH as if it was not cloaked.

"Sensors picked up a tremendous surge of energy and then the signal was gone."

"The Tear!"

You know I just noticed that I called the Issahi ship that met us DAGGER as well as the Romulan one. To steal a favourite TOS line, ‘How fallible of me’

Well this should be interesting.

Could you all check over your latest copy of the rosters and confirm or note changes to your NPC especially those in your department’s with bridge duty.

Mel C: Still with us?
