TACFLEET NOTES

The STEGOSAURUS-Class CL was, much as the ALLOSAURUS-Class BC was 45 years ago, a top-of-the-line light cruiser, roughly equivalent with the DIOGENES- Class CL's since retired by Star Fleet. However, Gorn technology, though progressing somewhat slower than Star Fleet's, has succeeded in producing a new light cruiser design- dubbed the RENDER-Class by Deep Space 13 personnel, who were the first to confront her.

In her day, however, the STEGOSAURUS was the workhorse of the Gorn navy during the period of skirmishes with the Tholian navy known collectively as "The Tholian Conflict." It met with some successes during that time; however, most of them were early in the conflict. Once the Tholian navy, with its superior resources, were able to design newer, more effective vessels, the STEGOs quickly lost their effectiveness.

Nowadays, the STEGOSAURUS-Class CL sees little action on the Gorn Hegemony/UFP border- and when it does, it is usually in support of a TRICERATOPS CA. However, more often than not, they are utilized as screening vessels for the ALLOSAURUS-Class BC defending the interior of Gorn space.

All of her ship systems, from her main reactor and propulsion systems on down to its weaponry a shields represent older technologies that have since been improved upon.

The STEGO, like almost every other Gorn design, is heavily armored for her size and class, much more so than her Star Fleet counterparts. However, in relation to her Gorn brethren, she is comparatively lightly armored- thus her rating as a light cruiser.

The typical STEGO carries a compliment of 120 shock troops, and a small number of various embarked craft, allowing it to perform marine actions if the occasion arises.
