II. Background
Va’Shela Shras was born to a “High Born” Imperial Family with an ancient martial tradition. Both his mother and father were renowned for their roles in Andorian society, and this made his upbringing hard, regimented, and disciplined.
Shras’s education was one of the finest that could be offered by the Federation. Although he received a tremendous amount of training on history, art, science, politics, mathematics, engineering and the requisite training required of a boy in his situation, he also received training in the martial disciplines of several worlds, including Andorian, Klingon, Vulcan, Human, Breen, and even Romulan. Well-liked by all his tutors, he was a very good student in all aspects of his training.
Shras was charismatic, compassionate, and disciplined, and it was obvious to all that he would be following in one of his parents' footsteps.
Although very skilled in the martial disciplines, Shras found he was also a very capable scientist. Fascinated by the stars and exploration, he dreamed of joining Starfleet, a career choice that did not make either of his parents happy. His mother was adamant that he become a scientist or a member of the Imperial Guard and stay and defend his world from internal and external threats, and that is what he did. At the age of 16, he was enrolled in the accelerated program for Junior Officers.
However, that was not his destiny. An attack at the Imperial Guard Headquarters by the Aenar Isolationists killed his mother and father when his sister was just 7 years old. Taking a year to mourn, his sister was placed in his Aunt and Uncle’s care (Father’s sister).
Now 17, Shras was free to decide what he wanted to do with his career, without his parents' influence. Tendering his application to Starfleet Academy, Shras was eagerly accepted by the Admissions staff. Leaving for the Academy with a sad yet proud sister, Shras began a journey that would take him to horizons unheard of.
Joining Starfleet, his career has been above average. Brave, intelligent, and warm for his race, he has impressed every one of his commanding officers to date. His latest promotion and transfer is one based on merit and hard work.

A. Skills: Shras was trained from birth to be an Imperial Guardsman, even though he was a scientist and explorer at heart. He is a very capable tactician, and extremely skilled in security and even computer science and engineering.
B. Shras is a student of the martial arts, and has learned numerous methods from dozens of races, as well as the practical application of these skills.

"Lt. Commander Shras has completed the surgical procedures that removed most of the damage sustained in the combat situation that nearly destroyed the ship. His psychological profile will have to be updated with all the horrors he witnessed while dealing with massive casualties. I expect him to make a full physical recovery. I have signed off on his medical profile, and he can return to duty after passing his psyche tests.

Although he has severe psychological trauma, I am confident that he will be able to return to active duty if his assignment comes with a more than capable Counsellor. As a "Type A" personality, he has moved forward already, and seems to be fine mentally and psychologically."
