RE: Ship Department Size
One question that is sometimes asked is how many people are in a given department on a starship. These numbers are some rough estimates of departmental personnel numbers for ships of varying sizes. This document should be considered as a guideline for naval personnel. Please note that most starship classes also carry a marine detachment.
Note: The numbers are not rounded off to whole hundreds because they are generated by a computer algorithm. If you would like the rough breakdown for a specific ship class, it can be calculated upon request. Or, since these numbers are a guideline, simply use the table below to estimate the number of crew in a given department.
