ORESTES STATION Specifications
***FINAL DRAFT VERSION- SD 190713***

INTRODUCTION

Orestes Station Complex Layout

Orestes Station proper is made up of two separate installations: the planet-side

installation that contains most of the Star Fleet administrative and military facilities as well as all of the civilian apartments and shops; and an installation on Forge, the orbiting moon, which contains Wormhole Operations and all of the Engineering offices, workshops and heavy construction facilities in conjunction with the orbital ship repair facilities.

Orbital satellites, which make up the Orestes communication network and the primary offensive and defensive weapons platforms, are controlled from the planet-side installation.

*Note: FS-1 = Civilian Station
       FS-2 = Federation Research Station
       FS-3 = Deep Space Station
       FS-4 = Fleet Command Starbase
  Relative power output:  FS-1/FD-12 = 0.8; FS-2/FD-12 = 10;
                          FS-3/FD-12 = 25; FS-4/FD-12 = 50
Regeneration rates on station shields are also correspondingly larger.
FD-12 are the shielding systems used on Federation Battleships of the
     ZEUS class
Station shields are usually divided into semi-independant and
overlapping sectors. A REDOUBT has 3 sectors approximately
900m long, divided into quadrants around the station. It is
possible for shields to fail in a single quadrant and to cover
quadrants with weakened extended shields from neighboring quadrants.

NOTES:

The planetside installation is one of modest size in comparison to other
frontier bases Star Fleet has employed, largely due to it being planetside.
However, as a crossroads between the rest of Gold Fleet and the Lehrren and
Woren peoples as well as Daru Zhauir, civilian comforts and needs had to
be considered in the base's construction.

The base is located along the coast of the largest continent on Orestes
Prime, at the mouth of the Shocklee River. This river runs inland from
the ocean and into the nearby mountain range. This river provides the
station with hydroelectric power, and the mountain range's dormant volcanoes
provide geothermic energy, which is stored belowground in large batteries
as a backup power source to its main fusion reactor.

A wide walkway bisects the base from north to south; this walkway, called
appropriately 'The Promenade,' is lined with shops on both sides, similar
to what one would expect to see on Deep Space 13 or Starbase Saikai. At
the south end of the Promenade stands the decorous main entrance to the
station. As one walks north past the shops, bazaars and restaurants, a
second walkway, called 'The Boulevard,' bisects The Promenade exactly in
the middle. As one continues north on The Promenade, it forks off into
three directions: continuing straight would bring one to the Alpha Complex,
the center of station administration and home to most of the officers and
civilians who live 'on station.' The Main Operations building- Beta Complex-
is directly behind the Alpha Complex, but is hidden by the mass of the
building.

Taking the left fork would see the traveler walking north-west; this path
would take the traveler to the Main Hangar Bay, denoted as Epsilon Complex.
Taking the right fork would lead north-east to the Gamma Complex, where
the station's support facilities and offices are located.

If one instead made a left onto The Boulevard and traveled west, one would
would reach the Delta Complex, the Enlisted Barracks. This complex is
actually 5 large buildings, and is capable of providing residence to over
7,000 enlisted Star Fleet personnel.

At the very east end of The Boulevard is the Zeta and Eta Complexes,
where the station's mechanical and engineering facilities are centered.

NOTES:

The Forge installation contains the main engineering offices, operations and
heavy production facilities (most of these facilities are located elsewhere
on Forge, often near the mines where the materials are unearthed), the main
Wormhole Operations facility, and Marine Flight Operations.

However, since Forge does not have the gravity to maintain an atmosphere,
each of the buildings were constructed underneath pressurized ceramaplast
domes and connected by pressurized passages.
