She considers her self a Tom-Boy and had a nearly pathological hatred of bullies. She had many fights in prep school defending younger students from bullies. Her third year of the Academy, the Iconian Conflict happened and third and fourth year students were deployed as Midshipmen into the fray. Many did not return. Raine herself was injured badly when the Firebrand was destroyed. When she recovered, the applied to and was accepted to the Special Space War fare school. The Federations incarnation of the old SEALs. She has been part of several operations with that unit.
