RT2010- CINCSF Report

CINCSF's REPORT

On a positive note, the club has 50% more units and 67% more writers than it did 6 months ago. The downside of that is that the numbers aren't all that high.

That brings us to 3 units and 20 writers. Activity levels vary quite a bit across the various writers, but that's not abnormal. A big part of that has been the recruiting of veteran writers, many of whom have had long hiatuses from the club.

I've worked to keep the ASR Facebook group more active, though it hasn't really brough much in terms of nibbles about new writers.

A lot of that recruitment has been driven by Sean Murphy who Tim S. asked to return in April.

In the last 6 months, we've seen over 400 posts across the 3 units. That is, looking back at Mike's CSFO report from October, 2019 more posts in 6 months than we have had in the first 9 months of any year since 2012...and we really started the Endeavour and Ranger at the end, not the beginning, of April and DS-451 only joined us in mid-July.

Now our job is to sustain this progress so that we can, hopefully, look for future growth.

The two proposals that I put on the docket are aimed at this goal. The first basically solidifies the unit descriptions from April and offers an outlet for additional creativity within the club. The second sets expectations for the command team of a unit to help make sure that we don't have part of a command team wander away without taking action...something that let units flounder and die without clear and consistent leadership in the past. I think that it is important to make those expectations transparent. And maybe the terminology isn't quite right, because I fully acknowledge that non-posting leadership and communication can drive a story from behind the scenes. That's why the proposal is there for debate and possible amendment.

The next orders of business are the formal acceptance and closure of the roll, the CSFO Report, the Secretary's posting of the Rules and Procedures.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Jenkins
