    PERSONALITY QUIRKS:

There is an ancient Tellarite proverb, “the only thing more enjoyable than a good meal is a good argument,” and Peppo wholly embraces this aspect of her cultural heritage. The "Speaking Way," the cornerstone of casual interaction in Tellarite society, was a dynamic process fueled by fervent arguments and factually based insults. While Tellarites cherish their argumentative nature, it stems not from animosity but from a deeply ingrained belief in the power of intellectual collision – an invigorating arena to champion one's own truths and rigorously examine the validity of others' claims. Insults are considered tools for intellectual honesty and critical thinking, never personal attacks. It is not uncommon for Tellarites to go out of their way in order to find a good argument. In fact it is both their most popular spectator sport and their fondest activity next to eating. Any subject and any point of view is fair game.

For a Tellarite, no thought, theory, or individual is sacrosanct; all are subject to rigorous challenge, and any idea unable to withstand such scrutiny is deemed to be inherently flawed. Tellarites delight in robust debates and habitually greet one another with sharp criticisms, complaints, and even incisive insults. A failure to reciprocate is seen as a sign of intellectual timidity and an unwillingness to engage with potential weaknesses. These fundamental principles of civilized discourse are instilled in every Tellarite from their earliest schooling.

Quite often she will argue against the position she really favors just to gain perspective on other opinions, then finally revealing her true stance on the issue. She enjoys dissecting ideas and challenging assumptions, often coming across as abrasive or even insulting. However, for Tellarites, this is simply a vigorous exchange of viewpoints, not a personal attack though it is considered rude to not reciprocate. In the end, any problem or question is thoroughly developed, usually with multiple solutions. Many humanoid species dislike the process yet enjoy the results.

Peppo doesn't mince words. She communicates directly and to the point, sometimes coming across as harsh or insensitive. However, beneath the gruff exterior lies a deep well of empathy and a strong sense of duty to her colleagues and those under her command.

She despises inefficiency, sees it as a debilitating and highly annoying weakness, Peppo has little patience for bureaucracy or red tape. She expects results and will readily voice her frustration with any system that gets in the way of progress. On the flip side, she is exceptionally punctual and obsessively checks her own work.

Her faith and devotion to Hovah are an essential part of her life, taking precedents above nearly all else, even her duties at times. Star Fleet tries it best to accommodate the religious needs of its personnel, up to the limits of regulations.

Beyond her faith and dedication to her profession is her love of music. As a teenager she learned to play the Kohlaohr, an Andorian string instrument like the Terran Bass, but shorter in height with a much lower pitch. An accomplished musician, she plays whenever and wherever duties will permit, often assembling orchestras to perform at starbases and installations.

The inherent risks of Star Fleet duty weigh heavily on Peppo, who struggles with a complex ethical paradox. Her nature as a doctor is intrinsically tied to the vow to "do no harm," a principle fiercely at odds with her sworn Star Fleet oath to defend the Federation and its citizens by any means necessary. The very notion of ending a life is personally repugnant and profoundly nauseating to her. As a testament to this struggle, her personal sidearm remains safely tucked away in a desk drawer in her quarters, utilized solely for the requirements of annual qualification (though she barely achieves the minimum required passing score every year) or when ordered to bring it along when away team protocols dictate the necessity.

    PERSONAL HISTORY

    EARLY LIFE:

Peppo glov Jirorsh was born on Tellar Prime in 2385 to a family deeply rooted in culinary arts, with her father a Master Pastry Chef and her mother a Culinary Professor Emeritus. Despite this strong family tradition, Peppo's own fascination gravitated towards the complexities of the body rather than the culinary arts, leading her to excel academically from a young age. Although, as with many Tellarites, Peppo shares a powerful passion for indulging in good food and drink but not preparing it. At age 17, she made a pivotal decision to leave Tellar Prime and relocate to Vulcan, where she was accepted into the prestigious Vulcan Science Academy (VSA) Shikhar Campus.

While attending the VSA, Peppo pursued a rigorous academic path, completing the equivalent of two Associate's degrees in Federation Law and Medical Administration, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science with a concentration in genetics. During this intense period of study, at the age of 19, she married Zhon bav Josullv, and a year later, their son Zhav lerkoch Josullv was born. This early family life, however, was short-lived.

At 22, Peppo faced a significant personal turning point when she and Zhon divorced. This split stemmed from a fundamental disagreement, as Zhon wished for the family to return to Tellar Prime while Peppo was fiercely dedicated to her medical studies. Following the divorce, Peppo moved to New Athens, Alpha Centauri where she was accepted into the Centauri Medical Innovations Institute’s Ph.D. program. This marked the clear trajectory of her future as a dedicated medical professional, even as she maintained contact with her son over the years as duties would permit.

    ADULT LIFE:

Peppo's adult life has been defined by an unwavering dedication to advanced medical science and a distinguished career in Star Fleet. Her intense passion for saving lives is only and barely superseded by her faith. After earning her Doctor of Medicine from the Centauri Medical Innovations Institute at age 26 and completing a three-year residency, she pursued a highly specialized Neurosurgery Fellowship at the Walter Reed Star Fleet Institute of Research on Terra-Sol III. At 32, she formally joined the Star Fleet Medical Corps, completing Officer Development School and earning a direct commission as a Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Her Star Fleet career has been punctuated by periods of active duty focused on medical practice and research, interspersed with educational leaves to further her expertise. These breaks allowed her to earn a Master in Military Arts & Science and a Doctor of Science in Infectious Diseases with a minor in Pharmacology, showcasing her relentless pursuit of medical and life-saving knowledge. Peppo's unique Tellarite communication style, characterized by directness and argumentation, has sometimes led to early disciplinary notes regarding decorum with superiors and colleagues, though her clinical judgment and intellectual rigor were consistently lauded. She views argument as a form of intellectual engagement, a cultural norm that sometimes clashes with Star Fleet's hierarchical structure.

Peppo’s passion lies in pushing medical boundaries to find cures for new diseases and improving patient care in any way possible. Her mentor and best friend, Commodore Dru Kanuha is set to retire at the end of 2437 and has been grooming Peppo to take her place as Deputy Commander of Star Fleet Medical. At least, that was the plan until she received orders in early June of 2437 from BUPERS, snatching her away from SF Med and assigning her to the new USS SAGAN as CMO. While her Detailer sympathized with her objections, after a prolonged and heated argument, her Placement Officer at BUPERS reiterated what she already knew to be true; the needs of the Fleet outweighed the individual needs and desires of the officers and crewpersons. Grudgingly and cynically, Peppo takes 2 weeks of vacation to prepare for the next step in her career, not having served on a starship in over 10 years.

In the spring of 2436, BUPERS had once before attempted to reassign her to another starship, the USS PROMETHEUS however the commander of SF Medical Corps rescinded those orders. Unfortunately, this time no one was able to prevent the inevitable transfer.

Despite her gruff exterior, Peppo possesses deep empathy, a strong sense of duty, and a surprising artistic side, finding outlets in poetry, ice sculpting, and playing the Andorian Kohlaohr, all while prioritizing her faith in Hovah.

    ODS NOTES

    January 2417
“On Stardate 0114, Officer Candidate Jirorsh was involved in an extended argumentative exchange with Senior Chief Petty Officer Thomar during a standard systems briefing at the Maxwell Forrest lecture hall, Star Fleet Academy ODS, Marseille Campus. The Officer Candidate was found in violation of Star Fleet regulations and decorum protocols pertaining to interactions between Officer Candidates and non-commissioned officers. As a result, a formal Record of Discussion has been entered into her official personnel file. It is noted, however, that Officer Candidate Jirorsh’s conduct was not motivated by disrespect or insubordination, but rather consistent with cultural norms of Tellarite discourse, wherein argument is regarded as a form of intellectual engagement. While corrective in nature, this entry is also intended as a reminder to supervising officers and peers to exercise cultural awareness in interspecies interactions. She must balance her cultural norms with the expectations of a Star Fleet officer.”

    - Commodore Ovritaa Zh'renat, Deputy Director Star Fleet Academy ODS, Marseille Campus Terra/Sol-3

    January 24170130
“On this date, Officer Candidate Jirorsh engaged in a contentious dispute with Senior Chief Medical Technician Jorun during a triage simulation at Star Fleet Medical Training Annex, Marseille Campus. While Officer Candidate Jirorsh’s clinical judgment in the matter was ultimately determined to be medically sound, her decision to escalate the discussion into a prolonged argument with a senior non-commissioned officer was inappropriate and inconsistent with Star Fleet regulations and standards of professionalism. Cultural considerations regarding Tellarite communicative norms have been acknowledged; however, Officer Candidate Jirorsh was previously counseled that cultural expression does not exempt officers from adhering to Star Fleet regulations regarding conduct.

This entry constitutes a formal Letter of Requirement, with explicit expectations for improved restraint, situational awareness, and professional decorum. Continued demonstration of argumentative conduct in violation of protocol will not be tolerated. Officer Candidate Jirorsh is expected to show measurable progress in communication discipline and command comportment by the conclusion of Officer Development School, or face further administrative review. Per SFUCMJ, a Letter of Requirement will expire in one (1) year and will not be included in the officer’s permanent OPF.”

    - Rear Admiral Darragh Byrne, Director Star Fleet Academy ODS, Marseille Campus Terra/Sol-3

    February 24170212
“Officer Candidate Peppo glov Jirorsh stands before us today as a truly unique yet exceptional graduate of the Officer Development School. Her academic performance was nothing short of brilliant, consistently placing her at the pinnacle of her class, and her grasp of complex operational protocols was exemplary during all simulations and exercises. She demonstrated an inherent aptitude for Star Fleet’s rigorous demands, proving her intellect and capability to master the intricate knowledge required of a commissioned officer, particularly within the Medical Corps. Her dedication to learning and achieving excellence was undeniable throughout her time here.

However, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the spirited challenges Officer Candidate Jirorsh presented to the established chain of command at times. Her passionate Tellarite nature, which manifests as an unyielding drive for intellectual debate and direct communication, occasionally bordered on insubordination in an environment that demands strict adherence to protocol. Star Fleet always tries in earnest to seamlessly meld cultural norms within the restraints of our rules and regulations, sometimes with marginal success. While these instances require firm guidance, it is important to note that they stemmed from a desire for thorough understanding and an unwavering commitment to what she perceived as truth, the ‘Speaking Way’ to the Tellarite culture. Peppo has shown a commendable willingness to adapt her cultural norms to the expectations of Star Fleet, and we are confident that this remarkable intellect, once fully harmonized with Star Fleet discipline, will serve the Federation with distinction."

    AWARDS AND COMMENDATIONS:

SD 24211023: “For exemplary service while assigned to the USS HECATE NCC-27003, Lieutenant Peppo glov Jirorsh is hereby awarded the Federation’s Silver Lifesaving Medal. During an away mission to the planet Pygoria IX to aid the terraforming mission, two Federation geology team members became trapped and severely injured following an unexpected seismic shift and localized rockslide. Doctor Jirorsh, demonstrating swift action and profound medical expertise, immediately assessed the precarious situation. Her rapid stabilization of the injured personnel and expert coordination of their extraction from the dangerous debris directly prevented loss of life. Her critical intervention upheld the highest ideals of Star Fleet in protecting Federation citizens from harm. Her conduct reflects great credit upon herself, the USS HECATE, and the entire Star Fleet Medical Corps.”

    - Captain Imani Thandiwe, commanding officer USS HECATE NCC-27003

SD 24271202: “For extraordinary medical ingenuity and leadership while serving as Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS PALLAS NCC-19922, Lieutenant Commander Peppo glov Jirorsh is hereby awarded the Leonard McCoy Medal for Merit. When an unknown, aggressive, and debilitating virus rapidly swept through the crew, tragically claiming nearly ten percent of personnel, Doctor Jirorsh acted with unparalleled speed and analytical brilliance. Though the virus devastated most species, sparing only a few like the Tellarites, she swiftly developed and administered a critical vaccine, working nearly nonstop for three days with very little sleep. Her decisive action and groundbreaking work in the face of a catastrophic biological threat immunized the remaining officers and crew, preventing any further casualties and safeguarding the lives of her shipmates. Doctor Jirorsh's exceptional dedication to medical science and her profound commitment to the well-being of the crew reflect the highest traditions of the Star Fleet Medical Corps.”

    - Captain Dru M. Kanuha, Deputy Commander, Medical Research Division – Star Fleet Medical Corps Terra-Sol III

SD 24330928: COMMENDATION FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE “For outstanding dedication and exceptional organizational acumen while serving as the Medical Facilities Joint Liaison Officer between the 7th SF Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Vandergrift and the Star Fleet Operational Support Services Facility (SOSSF) on Relva VII, Commander Peppo glov Jirorsh is hereby commended for her outstanding service to both units. In this critical role, Doctor Jirorsh expertly and seamlessly navigated the often complex and chaotic logistical challenges inherent in providing coordinated medical care across two distinct units. Her tireless efforts resulted in the implementation of a unified, highly structured, and significantly more patient-friendly approach to medical services by eliminating redundant resources and ensuring equitable and efficient care for all Star Fleet personnel, regardless of their specific branch of service. Doctor Jirorsh's leadership and commitment to inter-service collaboration significantly enhanced the well-being of countless personnel and reflect great credit upon herself and the Star Fleet Medical Corps.”

    - Major Echik Gabocx, Executive Officer 7th SF Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Vandergrift, Relva VII

    DISCIPLINARY NOTES/ACTIONS:

SD 24170507: On this date, Lieutenant Junior Grade Peppo glov Jirorsh, while serving as a staff doctor at the Star Fleet Academy Marseilles Campus, engaged in a heated professional disagreement with a colleague regarding the appropriate course of treatment for a patient. While Doctor Jirorsh's clinical assessment and recommended treatment protocol were ultimately determined to be medically sound, the manner in which the discussion escalated into a prolonged and argumentative exchange in the presence of the patient was unprofessional and inconsistent with Star Fleet regulations.

This incident is noted as bordering on conduct unbecoming a Star Fleet officer, as it failed to prioritize patient comfort and professional collaborative standards. Doctor Jirorsh is reminded that while intellectual debate is valued, such exchanges must be conducted through appropriate channels and in a manner that maintains the professionalism and integrity of Star Fleet Medical Corps. Future medical disagreements are to be resolved through consultation with a commanding officer or established review processes, and not through public confrontation. This Letter of Requirement is hereby entered into her official personnel file as a formal reminder of expected conduct. Per SFUCMJ, a Letter of Requirement will expire in one (1) year and will not be included in the officer’s permanent OPF.

    PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS (FITREPS):

    September 2433

Overall Performance: Excels in all assigned duties
Strengths: Doctor Jirorsh’s performance of the past year has been exemplary! Both myself and Captain Siobhan Fitzpatrick finally agree on something, Peppo’s service has been invaluable! She consistently ignores the subtle interservice rivalries that have existed for centuries between Star Fleet’s naval personnel and the Marines. Through her coordinated efforts, she has made it possible to bring medical care to our two installations to a new era of efficiency.
Areas for Improvement: Peppo is bold, outspoken, a bit stubborn and highly competitive. As long as she is always mindful to keep those traits within regulations, they will be more of an asset to her and her colleagues instead of areas for improvement.
Rater’s Comments: I’m sorry to see you leave Camp Vandergrift and anytime you want to transfer to the SFMC, just let me know, you’re always welcome on our base!
    - Major Echik Gabocx, Executive Officer 7th SF Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Vandergrift, Relva VII

    June 24370604

Overall Performance: Excels in all assigned duties
Strengths: Peppo Jirorsh, a distinguished doctor and senior medical researcher on my staff, has played a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of various medical anomalies and breakthroughs. Her dedication to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of Star Fleet's medical capabilities has been nothing short of exceptional.
Areas for Improvement: At times, Peppo can truly be a thorn in our side, yet often those moments turn inaction into action, bring order to chaos, and develop a plan of action out of uncertainty. Over the years she has struggled to temper her argumentative attitude with ongoing success. I applaud her efforts to indulge in professional discussion and leave the Tellarite’s ‘Speaking Way’ with insults and animated arguments for off-duty.
    Rater’s Comments:
"It is with great pride and sincere admiration that I pen this service record entry for Commander Peppo Jirorsh. Peppo has exemplified the highest standards of excellence and commitment during her tenure at the Star Fleet Medical Corps Research Division as my second in command.
As her close friend and Commanding Officer, I have had the privilege of witnessing Commander Jirorsh's unwavering commitment to the principles of Star Fleet. Her contributions to cutting-edge research projects have not only elevated the capabilities of our medical teams but have also garnered respect and recognition throughout the fleet.
It is with mixed emotions that I acknowledged the recent orders from BUPERs for Commander Jirorsh's immediate transfer to the USS SAGAN, where she will assume the billet of Chief Medical Officer. While Star Fleet Medical Corps will unquestionably miss her expertise, intellect and leadership, we acknowledge the valuable impact she will certainly make aboard the USS SAGAN. My loss of a colleague and friend will be the sincerest of gains for the SAGAN’s captain and the officers & crew of that ship.
Peppo, your service has been an inspiration to all who have had the honor of working alongside you. May your journey on the USS SAGAN be as fulfilling and successful as your time here at Star Fleet Medical. On behalf of the entire SF Med staff, I extend our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for your continued success. Someday in the future, I have no doubt you will be leading the Medical Corps. Ad Astra Per Aspera!"

    MEDICAL RECORD

SD 24161227 STAR FLEET ODS PRE-ADMITTANCE EXAM:

Following a comprehensive standard medical evaluation on this date, the patient is determined to be in perfect health. Vital signs, physical examination, and diagnostic tests all fall within optimal ranges, with no evidence of illness, injury, or conditions that would impede their ability to meet the rigorous physical and mental demands of the rigorous ODS training. Peppo glov Jirorsh is fully cleared for admission to Star Fleet Officers Development School with the following non-restrictive observations:

    - Lt. Commander Lochlainn Ó’Dálaigh (LOKH-lin oh DAW-lee), Staff Doctor Star Fleet Academy, ODS Marseille Campus Terra/Sol-3
o Patient suffers extreme anxiety in zero gravity environments; this has been a lifelong condition. The standard course of treatment is 20mg Metoclopramide as needed but has had a marginal effect on Peppo’s symptoms.
o She exhibits an amazingly high tolerance for alcohol or the equivalent from many Federation worlds.
o Patient is highly intolerant to cold temperatures, anything below 65F (18C) is uncomfortable and below 50F (10C) is unbearable for any length of time.

    PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE SD 24370601:

Commander Peppo Jirorsh's psychological profile reveals a complex and resilient individual. Her upbringing on Tellar Prime, a planet known for its straightforward and assertive communication style, has significantly shaped her character. Raised in an environment that values honesty and directness, Peppo has adopted a similar approach in her interactions, often using argumentation as a means of exchanging ideas and refining her own thoughts.
Her penchant for argumentation serves a dual purpose – not only as a means of intellectual engagement but also as a defense mechanism. Beneath the tough exterior lies a vulnerability that she guards fiercely. The divorce in her past has left emotional scars, and she has developed a coping mechanism of deflecting personal questions with sharp wit and sarcasm. The emotional distance she maintains can make it challenging for others to truly understand her, creating a barrier that she may be unaware of or unwilling to break down. There are a select few in the entire galaxy she calls a friend, only after years (or more) on Tellarite ‘indoctrination’.
In her professional life, Peppo's dedication to medical research and surgery may serve as a form of escape, allowing her to immerse herself in the intricacies of science and medicine. The tangible impact of her work provides a sense of accomplishment that compensates for the emotional complexities of personal relationships.
Peppo's artistic pursuits, such as writing poetry and ice sculpting, provide a glimpse into her more sensitive side. These activities may serve as therapeutic outlets, allowing her to express emotions that she might struggle to convey verbally. The duality of her personality, the hardened exterior juxtaposed with the delicate artistic expressions, reveals a multifaceted individual seeking balance and self-discovery.
While her assertive communication style and argumentative nature may pose challenges in interpersonal relationships, those who take the time to understand her motivations find a loyal and passionate ally. Commander Peppo glov Jirorsh's psychological profile showcases a woman who, despite her tough exterior, is on a journey of self-discovery, seeking harmony between her intellectual pursuits, emotional resilience, and artistic inclinations.
