B. Background Summary:
Once upon a time, there were just the Kzin. They reached for and captured the stars at the behest of the Fanged God. His chosen Heros were driven to master the stars. But their sublight ships took decades to push themselves to distant stars and for those at home centuries passed. Sometimees the leaders of the starships died and other continued the mission, but sometimes that mission changed from conquest to colonization and this led to the Caitians. When priets died, the interpretation of their faith changed. And so was born the code of honor of the Kilrathi. Closest to their parent race were the Lyran. But they lost the ties to home and a corrupted database and key deaths among the crew meant that subsequent generations knew little of their parents and, eventaully even the name Kzin was lost. They would react most visciously when their progenators rediscovered their worlds.
In the early days of the Attrition Wars betweeen the Lyraen and Kzinti, many died, but a few crippled ships managed to limp to habitable worlds. Often vessels of both sides would end up on the same world. At times, the war continued and everyone perished because the limited resources of the two sides were used for killing rather than survival. In a few rare cases, the sides decided that survival was more important. This was anathema to their cultures. They would never be allowed to return home.
Over the centuries, the Kilrathi joined the wars fought Kzinti and Lyraen, though their numbers were never as great as their cousins, the fought to survive and for the honor of their people. Caitians were drawn into the conflicts. Both lost ships as well and sometimes these found the nascent colonies that already existed on the edge of the conflict. And on a few of these worlds, all four species found each other and on at least one worked together to build a new world.
That world would die in fire when the Kzinti found it decades later, but not before Mr'all was born. He should not have survived, but the colony where he was born had an ancient Slaver statis box and his parents knew where it was kept. As the Kzinti forces descended on the colony, their took their only kit and placed him in the box, engaging and encrypting the lock, and burying the box in the colony's mine. The Kzinti would have taken such a valuable artifact, but they had no interest in the mine and did not discover it. The box was brought to Earth in the wake of the Earth-Kzin wars, but, in 2070, no one could open the stasis box and it ended up in an archive. No colonies of the sort than spawned those like Mr'all would survive this period. Centuries later, there would be some hybrids in the diaspora from his four parent worlds, but they would be few and far between because of the cultural divide. This unique point in time spawned a unique creature.
Centuries passed.
Star Fleet Captain John Jones happened upon the box and figured out how to open it, releasing Mr'all in 2418. He tried to repatriate the young kit, but the Kzin would not have him and were cocerned that reacionary forces would try to overthrow the new republic using him as a pawn when genetic testing showed that his heritage was of the House Riit. The Kzinti Republic demanded that those records be sealed. The Lyraen, with their hatred of the Kzin, advised that he would have no place in their society. The Kilrathi echoed that sentiment. The Caitians attempted to allow him into their society, but his heritage was clear in his appearance. He had the white fur most common in the Lyraen, but highlighted with the striping most common in the Kilrathi, emphasizing the alienness. Mr'all also possessed the mane of a Kilrathi and purple Caitian eyes. None of this molified his fellow orphans in the foster system. He was teased relentlessly and demonstrated that, as a youth, he had a temper that would be commonplace in a Kzinti. He violent response to teasing was not acceptable to Caitian society.
Captain Jones, recently retired from active fleet service and working on Earth, adopted the kit and raised him on Earth, teaching him patience and to control his temper. Mr'all grew in patience, self-discipline, and as a scholar as well as in size. Mr'all found the working of technical mechanisms fascinating. He was only a small kit when he was put in stasis, but nothing like the wonders of the 25th century was even though of on the colony. Mr'all studied the languages of all of his people, looking to find himself in their history and writings. Finding nothing, he look outward to terran martial arts which creates a fascination for the martial arts of all sorts of cultures which he has studied whenever and wherever possible.
