PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
SPECIES OVERVIEW: The stout, hirsute Tellarite species came from Tellar Prime, a temperate planet in the Alpha Quadrant. Theirs was a culture noted for being abrasive and confrontational, with a stubborn pride, quick tempers, and little patience. However, this was only a superficial view: while Tellarites were argumentative, it comes from a sense of intellectual honesty and rigorous skepticism. To a Tellarite, no idea, concept, or person was beyond challenge or analysis, and any notion that could not stand up to scrutiny was an unworthy one. Tellarites reveled in debates, and tended to greet one another with criticisms, complaints, and even insults; and failing to respond in kind was poorly regarded, as it displayed a weakness of character and an unwillingness to confront flaws.
Leth is rather tall and lean compared to the average Tellarite male, very toned and agile. Never one to conform to anything other than his own ambitions, he refused to grow the profuse beard and keeps it neat and well-trimmed in defiance of cultural traditions.

B. Background Summary:
----------------------
Born into a family of bounty hunters, Leth bav Zhaolunsh was bred for the hunt. His father Chalohg bim Zegm, an unyielding and disciplined man, molded his son into something more than a mere tracker of criminals—he forged him into the talented and successful professional he is today. Unlike most Tellarites, Leth eschewed brute strength for speed, agility, and cunning, an anomaly among his kind. His successes speak for themselves—88 captures over almost two decades, each one proof of his dominance in a profession where failure could mean injury or death.
Once, he had dreamt of something different, a future roaming the cosmos as an officer in Star Fleet. A chance to prove himself among the so-called ‘best of the best’ among the stars. After successfully completing the rigorous entrance exam assessments in July 2335 (Federation calendar), his career pathway hinged on the final interview. It was here, with his assigned Placement Officer, that his role in Star Fleet would be established.

The Star Fleet Placement Officer, unfamiliar with the Tellarite Speaking Way—the cultural norm of argumentative yet respectful debate—misinterpreted Leth bav Zhaolunsh’s confident challenges and pointed questions as insubordination and hostility. Instead of engaging in the expected verbal sparring, as any well-informed officer should, the Placement Officer grew agitated and defensive, taking offense where none was intended. Leth, in turn, was insulted by the officer’s ignorance and refusal to engage properly, seeing it as a sign of weakness and disrespect. The next day, the rejection notice arrived—"Unfit for Service at this time"—a carefully worded dismissal that only fueled his growing resentment towards Star Fleet forever.

When his younger brother Xorv gained entry to Star Fleet, it solidified Leth's bitter conclusion: the institution was corrupt, where prejudice and favoritism trumped true merit. His initial rejection festered into resentment, ultimately hardening into utter contempt. Star Fleet had its opportunity. He now answered to no flag but that of his own.

While on Coltar IV in February 2349, Leth, his father Chalohg, and Geiqront, a Lissepian who had been Leth's closest friend for over six years, were engaged in the practicalities of their upcoming journey: refueling and performing minor repairs on Geiqront's vessel, the LSS BROKEN SPROCKET.
Years ago, Chalohg had completed a bounty contract on a Romulan defector. While the Vice Proconsul had been delighted and promptly saw to the slow and agonizing execution (as rumored), the family was incensed. In spirit of revenge and Mnhei'sahe (Rihannsu concept of family honor), they placed an exceptionally lucrative bounty on Chalohg’s head, unbeknownst to Leth and his father.

With a bold, cunning deception, Geiqront kidnapped Chalohg, and betrayed years of friendship by phaser-stunning Leth – all for a vast sum of credits. This act of treachery shattered Leth's trust, and he swore an oath to Hovah, the god of the Tellarites, to find his father and exact a brutal revenge upon Geiqront.

Leth's reputation and personal integrity as a bounty hunter rested on his skill in deception, trickery, and the ingenious use of booby-traps. His professional ethic dictated live captures whenever possible, regardless of the "dead or alive" clause in his contracts. Leth's involvement ended upon delivery of the bounty, the fate of the captured thereafter being of no concern to him – whatever would happen was of no consequence to him or his conscience. In keeping with his father's decades-long practice, Leth had always avoided lethal force in his work – with a single exception he painfully regrets.

June 2350 found Leth pursuing a treacherous and clever Benzite, a quarry who proved adept at turning the hunter into the hunted with his own traps. Though Leth evaded most, the final one caught him. Faced with a fight for his life, the agile and nimble Tellarite did what he had to do to stay alive. While he had survived the encounter, that act irrevocably changed who he was and had become because of the incident, the dying gaze of the Benzite a permanent specter forever etched into his mind.

In June 2351, Leth's pursuit of Dragazs, a Gorn criminal with a substantial bounty from the Orion Free Traders Guild for over a dozen heinous charges, led him to Mo'Rat VI, a distant world within the Klingon Empire.
Always a fan of gambling in any form, he had tracked the Gorn to an underground pit fighting arena, and there bet a hefty sum of credits on the Gorn’s challenger, a young Klingon named Korrak. With 50:1 odds against Korrak, the match was bloody and grueling, but the Klingon narrowly seized a victory and Leth made a considerable fortune in UFP credits from his winnings. With the Orion’s contract on the Gorn completed (dead or alive), Leth offered Korrak a generous cut (40%) of the bounty and a job as his bodyguard and personal assistant, a proposition the Klingon accepted after some careful and intense discussions.

Lastly, in April of 2353, a troubling revelation reached Korrak – his Uncle Avorgh, a Klingon physician of great repute, had been captured and, even worse, falsely condemned as a spy by House Kathor.

Their ingenious plot aimed to liberate Avorgh from imprisonment and a grim fate. Yet, the escape ended in tragedy: Avorgh was killed, and Leth also was forced to leave his cherished freighter behind, the TMV HOVAH'S REDEMPTION, a vessel that had been his father Chalohg’s legacy. Though uncertain of the HOVAH’s fate, he desperately wants to return to Kathor someday and retrieve his prized little ship.

Leth and Korrak did manage to rescue another condemned Klingon named Koth and thus began that journey – a Tellarite amid a crew of mostly Klingons, scouring the Alpha and Beta quadrants for credits, honor and the personal vendettas each one harbors.

C. Personality Summary:
-----------------------
Impatience and strong emotions are hallmarks of the Tellarite people. Yet, this fiery nature is balanced by their enjoyment of robust debate, a practice so cherished it has evolved into a recognized sport and way of communicating on Tellar.

Tellarites have a peculiar way of engaging: they often begin by lodging a series of complaints, a method of immediately establishing an argumentative footing with new acquaintances. In the absence of genuine grievances, they are not averse to simply offering an insult. This innate ability to argue with vigor and skill makes them formidable and often successful politicians.

Leth will joyously immerse himself in the art of the Speaking Way of the Tellarites, that which many other races simply refer to as arguing for no reason. True to their nature, a Tellarite, no matter what their initial position, will engage others to explore different viewpoints, either to strengthen their own convictions or to attempt to sway others. They will not yield until every facet of the issue has been exhaustively argued and a resolution reached.

Beneath the hardened exterior of a hunter, Leth remains bound by deep personal convictions. He idolizes his grandfather, a revered figure in their lineage, and is one of the few Tellarites still deeply devoted to the Supreme Deity of Hovah. His faith is not just ritual, it is the foundation of his resolve, guiding him through each day with a belief that fate and divine justice walk hand in hand. Though he remains single for now, his restless nature makes settling down an unlikely prospect, as the thrill of the hunt and the chase of destiny continue to call him forward.

In matters of his parents are complicated. While he loves his mother dearly, her dabbling into criminal activity and subsequent prison sentence is an embarrassment Leth would rather forget. For now, he focuses on finding his father Chalohg and enacting vengeance upon his former best friend, Geiqront.

Leth bav Zhaolunsh operates with precision and cunning, ensuring that his bounty captures are executed without bloodshed or unnecessary harm. Over the years, he has perfected his craft into a science, relying on strategy, technology, and psychological manipulation rather than brute force. Each hunt is meticulously planned, accounting for every possible variable—from the target’s habits to their escape routes.

His preferred methods involve stunning neural shocks, fast-acting sedatives, and precision tranquilizer darts, all designed to incapacitate without lasting damage. When dealing with high-risk fugitives, he crafts elaborate booby traps, such as pressure-sensitive floors that trigger containment fields, or disguised neural emitters that cause temporary paralysis with a single misstep. Leth’s approach ensures that by the time his quarry realizes they’ve been captured, the fight is already over.

For him, efficiency is paramount—violence is messy, unpredictable, and a sign of failure. His philosophy is simple: the best hunts end with a whisper, not a bang. Whether through deception, calculated ambushes, or leveraging a fugitive’s own weaknesses against them, Leth never leaves a job unfinished, and never lets his prey escape.

Languages seem to come natural to Leth and will often disable his universal translator to embrace the nuances of a new language heard spoken for the first time.

VII. Miscellaneous Information
=============================
Leth was the proud owner of a Kaplan-class F17 small civilian freighter named TMV HOVAH’S REDEMPTION of Tellarite registry. This ship is capable of planetary landing and can cruise at warp 6 and reach emergency speed of warp 7 for just a few hours. There are two decks with a small cargo hold. Accommodations onboard for 2 people, however four can be crowded and 10 severely cramped with using the cargo space in an emergency. Lost and assumed destroyed by those of House Kathor, he hopes to find his beloved ship again someday.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tellarite legs ended in two-toed feet with hooves, and their femur was notable for its missing the third trochanter, and that their fibula was vestigial. Virtually all Tellarites are ambidextrous, and their hands were sometimes hoof-like in appearance.
Their digestive system was designed for plants, and as such they had two stomachs which utilized bacteria to break down the food before entering their single intestine. Despite this, canines are a delicacy on Tellar Prime.
The Tellarite sense of smell and hearing was advanced for a humanoid, while their eyesight was sub par. Tellarites were almost always born in groups of six, as they approach puberty they developed a bristly yellow mane of hair. They reach adulthood by the age of twelve Earth years.
