Lellis Andei Cambol
Lellis Andei Cambol is a Human Starfleet medical officer currently serving as Chief Resident of the Emergency and Triage Unit at the UFP Starfleet Field Hospital on Uma Colony, Romit II. A veteran emergency physician with extensive civilian and frontier experience, Cambol is noted for her decisiveness under pressure, improvisational skill, and blunt interpersonal style.Early Life and Family
Lellis Cambol was born in Surterigis, Alpha Centauri City, the youngest of three children of Lucian and Dominica Cambol. Her older siblings, Luisi and Lianda, followed more traditional family paths, while Lellis developed a reputation early on for independence and defiance of expectations. Raised within one of Alpha Centauri’s long-established settler families, she resisted the social pressures associated with that heritage, gravitating instead toward high-intensity, service-oriented work.
Education
Cambol attended the University of Alpha Centauri, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2413. During this period she achieved the rank of Sensei in Kyentau, a traditional Alpha Centauran martial discipline.
She continued on to the University of Alpha Centauri School of Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2417 with a specialization in Emergency Medicine. While there, she attained the rank of Shihan in Kyentau and served as an instructor and coach.
Her postgraduate training included a residency in Emergency Medicine at Decker Memorial Hospital on Ajilon Prime (2417–2420). A conflict with supervisory staff over falsified research data resulted in her departure prior to formal completion.
Civilian Medical Career
Following her departure from Ajilon Prime, Cambol spent approximately fifteen years as a contract physician aboard civilian merchant vessels operating along the Federation frontier. During this period, she practiced medicine in environments characterized by limited resources, long deployments, and minimal institutional oversight. Her work took her into remote regions of the Alpha Quadrant and, on multiple occasions, into the Delta and Gamma Quadrants.
This phase of her career significantly shaped her medical philosophy, reinforcing rapid decision-making, self-reliance, and creative problem-solving. It also contributed to her difficulty adapting later to hierarchical team-based environments.
Starfleet Service
After returning briefly to Alpha Centauri and reassessing her long-term prospects, Cambol applied to Starfleet Officer Candidate School on impulse. Despite a documented history of friction with authority, she successfully completed the twelve-week program and was commissioned as a Lieutenant (O-3) in 2435.
She was assigned to the UFP Starfleet Field Hospital on Uma Colony, Romit II, as Chief Resident of the Emergency and Triage Unit. Her arrival coincided with the aftermath of a thirty-year civil war and occupation, during which Starfleet and Federation agencies were conducting large-scale humanitarian relief operations.
Cambol proved particularly effective in the chaotic and politically sensitive post-conflict environment, though her unorthodox methods and blunt demeanor initially caused tension with hospital administration. Over time, her accountability and clinical results earned the trust of senior staff.
She was later granted a special exemption to sit for the UFP Board Certification examinations in Emergency Medicine, based on her combined civilian and Starfleet experience.
Personality and Traits
Cambol is known for her blunt, direct communication style and low tolerance for bureaucracy. While this can be perceived as abrasive, colleagues frequently note her authenticity, integrity, and willingness to take responsibility for outcomes. She prefers small, close-knit professional relationships and tends to avoid large social gatherings.
She has historically struggled with delegation, a trait attributed to her long tenure as a solo civilian physician, though evaluations indicate steady improvement.

Notes
Kyentau is a fictional Alpha Centauran martial art combining the philosophy of kendo with staff-based combat techniques. If portrayed in a dramatized adaptation of ASR events, Cambol would be portrayed by Nathalie Emmanuel.
