NOTES:

The ARCHER II-class is the descendant of a proud line of one-nacelled
ships like the HERMES, SALADIN or FREEDOM classes. It has been designed
with flexibility and utility in mind, and is able to perform multiple
mission types, from patrol and surveying to personnel transport and
even diplomatic missions. Its ample hangar bay provides for a variety
of embarcked crafts that no other frigate in service can rival and
that allows it to serve as support ship and perform well in many
kinds of tasks.

The ships are fast and nimble, well manned and with a slight
overabundance of the key personnel for flight operations. They have
excellent generalistic sensors, top of the class shields and are
sufficiently well armed for their mission profiles. They are not
the most glamorous ships, but they are deceptively sturdy, extremely
hard working ships that run seamlessly in the background, performing
routine, but important tasks.

The new ILN-70x nacelle series has improved Warp coils using a
system of multiple concentrical layers that provides an exceptional
thermal reaction and allows for softer acceleration curves and finer
control in the local manifold deformation. Dedicated computer nodes,
gathering information in real time, are able to calculate the Warp
bubble geometry tensor at triple the frequency and almost ten times
as precisely as older models. This allows for greater speeds with
less energy expenditure, allowing for faster, longer Warp travels.

With the new ILN-70x series, a one nacelled ship has almost none of
the disadvantages of older models in speed and durability, and still
all the advantages of simpler geometry, ease of repair and reduced
size and displacement.

In addition to the new Warp system, the ARCHER II-class FF is one
of the first frigates to be equipped with the latest Gen V D-Warp
technology, which coupled with the improved shields and SRPS-1
radiation phase shielding system, allows for considerably faster and
more robust D-Warp travel in all Hyperspace bands. This new D-Warp
iteration offers improved control over local gravimetrics, providing
extremely agile and responsive sublight flight. Coupled with the very
light and sturdy spaceframe of the ship and newer generation of IDF
generators, this provides one of the best gravitic plane drive in
the whole catalog of StarFleet.

The new Warp and D-Warp systems make the ARCHER II a very appealing
starship for many types of missions where a bigger ship was
traditionally needed for speed, like reconaissanse or scouting,
while giving it enormous autonomy and endurance.

The primary hull comprises 9 decks of 4.5 meters high each, and
contains the bridge on deck 1, the Hangar bay on decks 3 and 4 (with
FliOps on deck 2), the navigational deflector mainly on deck 5 and a
mess hall on the forward starboard side of deck 4 called 'The Lucky
Clover' or 4-Forward.

The secondary hull also serves as the nacelle pylon and contains most
of Engineering and the Warp core. Reaching the nacelle, the torpedo
launcher deck houses ordnance and probes, which can be deployed by
the multipurpose launchers forward and aft.

Ships of the class are named after historical Saladin-class ships,
registry numbers in the NCC-975xx series. (note: names with asterisks
are already in use in different classes, but might be reclaimed in the
future; list from https://memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Saladin_class)
