B. Background Summary:
----------------------

Anastasiya was born in a small village in the Zakarpattia Oblast,
in the Carpatian mountain range west of Ukraine, on Earth, in the
same house her mother and grandmother and great-grandmother had
been born, the Molyenkivska Sadiba.  When she was young she enjoyed
the stories of Starfleet defending the Federation, specially the
Borg threat and decided to join Starfleet Academy and use her skills
in Navigation and Engineering, as well as the love for Science her
mother gave her.

Due to a very long and isolated chain of genetic heritage due to her
Hutsul ethnics, her genetic pool of East Slavic tribes, mainly White
Croats, Wlach, but also Scythian, Celtic and Turkic/Mongol is quite
unique. Her people have been quite isolated from other groups due to
the bad access through the mountains. That caused a huge accumulation
of several recessive genes that make her more psychosensitive than
the average of Humans. She was the first on her family to show psychic
abilities, shortly before her younger sister did, a trait that's been
passed down to her niece Anichka, only the females so far, and it seems
to be getting stronger. Her mother had little talent but her grandmother
was very good at healing, mostly plants, which might have been an early
trait of their capacities.

She was the first in her family to join Starfleet and the first in her
family to leave the village and to show strong psychic powers.

C. Personality Summary:
-----------------------

Anastasiya is a tall athletic woman, with some of an oriental upper
skull structure but Caucasian in the mouth and nose. She is not
stunning, but the overall impression is very positive. She has a
happy-go-lucky character and always works to the maximum.

With the years, her character has become bitter and sarcastic, but
she still gives it her all and expects the same from others, but she is
fair and helpful.

During an exploration run along the Cardassian border, the TSUNAMI-B
was attacked by Shard-aligned battleships. As the CO was injured,
Nastya as XO assumed command and managed to defeat the Cardassian ships,
destroying one and forcing the rest to retreat. The damage to the ship
was considerable and there were numerous injured and many casualties,
but her actions managed to save the ship and serve to gather important
intel on the Shard activities in the closest borders with Cardassian
Union and Federation territories.

During this battle she suffered an injury on her left leg that caused
severe neural trauma. While her her has recovered, she keeps limping a
bit, probably an aftereffect of her psychic abilities. She was awarded
several medals, promoted to CDR and offered her first command, which
she declined to stay on the TSUNAMI, which was shortly decommissioned
due to the damage sustained.

V. Skills Profile
==================

Due to intensive training and a somewhat unusual genetic
heritage, Anastasiya shows operand psychic powers at an
unconscious level. That had helped her to acquire high
skills in navigation and all kinds of creative activities.
She is also very sensitive to telepathic messages and
sometimes experiences proleptic visions that can help her
in stress situations.

With many years of training and experience, she has developed what
some had dubbed 'spider-sense', which usually manifests at the
personal level, but sometimes appears at much larger scales. This
ability has made her a legendary pilot and has served her well in
many hairy situations. Thanks to these abilities and her experience
in StarFleet, she managed to fend off an attack by rebel Cardassian
warships and emerge victorious.

VI. Recent Fitness Reports
==========================

Commander Bariseva is an extraordinary woman. She took control of
the TSUNAMI-B when the CO was incapacitated and not only managed
to survive and save the ship, she forced the attacking forces to
retreat after a violent combat. Her actions not only saved her ship
and crew, but recovered data from one of the assaulting ships that was
destroyed showed very important evidence for the ongoing Cardassian
Union process for Federation membership.

Her amazing abilities have helped her to deal with the associated
trauma, but she retains, after some months of rehabilitation, a slight
limp due to a ghost pain, surely due to the very same abilities. Back
in active duty, she has been offered her first command, but she remains
attached to the TSUNAMI and 'all her ghosts', as she has put it.
However, it's more than probable that the ship, that suffered really
heavy damage, will be retired in favor of a more modern model. It is
our hope she will accept a new station then. In whichever position
she ends with, I am sure she will shine like a star.

ENS Bariseva shows some characteristic acidic rests on her blood
stream generally associated, in natural telepathic species, to
extreme telepathic stress. As Ens Bariseva has shown natural mental
abilities, we can only help her to diminish the stress by means of
the new treatment that should be taken for at least a period of time
for about 1 month. Plus, periodical sessions with her ship's COUNS
should be held, as the patient's brain seems to still be in a pseudo-
shock state, although only at the most deep level. On the other hand
she is perfectly fit for duty, and her strong personality should help
her to overcome the facts that happenned on board the lost USS TSUNAMI
and that she had denied to comment.

Bariseva has been a good student: enthusiastic, involved in her studies
and with a great intuition when dealing with problems. She has a good,
strong personality, iron will and great sense of responsibility. She
likes people and always tries to be friendly and give her best for
others. Without being disrespectful, she is able to stand with a

ordered not to do so.
