B. Background Summary:
There are no early records of DiFalco's birth or upbringing. At the age of 12 she was living on the streets of a remote Federation Planet and picked up occasional "jobs" whenever possible. The jobs were not all of a legal nature. While that life is far in the past the memory of some of the survival skills remains. Alicia DiFalco (great-grand niece of Calvin DiFalco) noticed her hanging around a cafe and talked to her frequently. Eventually they became friends and then she adopted Alaina. When Alicia DiFalco returned to Earth, Alaina accompanied her and began a rapid reeducation in the niceties of a more civilized society. Alicia DiFalco had a collection of memorabilia from Calvin and Catherine DiFalco's service in Starfleet and although which intrigued Alaina but she decided to follow an academic carrier after spending several summer school terms in various science camps.
Her college years were spent in very earth centric departments. Wanting to expand her knowledge to soil development in nonterran environments, she appied to Ni'Var and was accepted. After completion of her studies at Ni'Var she obtained a civilian appointment to Memory Alpha directing a small research group and began comparative studies of other planetary soil chemistries. She found the wealth of information in Memory Alpha's files overwhelming but somehow cold and static. It was all already known. Memories of Alicia DiFalco's collection of DiFalco memorabilia lead her to consider a career in Star Fleet.
