Scene: Bridge<br>
Captain Zane stood leaning over the science station along with Lt. Jenn,
studying the difference in the communication pattern. They all watched the
dancing light patterns on the console in front of them. When place side by
side, the differences became clear.
"Could it be an advanced scout?" asked Jenn. "Sending a homing beacon to
the Reavers." There was a clear sense of dread in her voice.
"The Ceevan." Said a quiet voice behind her. They turned to see Jerran
standing there his face as emotionless as usual. "It's the Ceevan."
Something in the emotionlessness of his voice and his face was enough
silence them all. Even Loth who had been gloating over his discovery.
Zane nodded, "It's a possibility. Perhaps our fractured Romulan faction has
become somewhat of a 'Jem'Haddar' for the Reavers."
Krysa shuddered visibly, the others though showing no outward signs,
understood the woman's apprehension. "Should we inform the away team?"
Zane shook his head. "It's not going to make a difference in their mission.
Besides, I don't think we should make any rash judgments until we hear what
Koroth finds." He turned to Commander Maril who was standing just a short
distance away. "Commander, you have the bridge, I'll be in my ready room."
Zane turned and headed to his ready room, leaving the other officers
watching behind him.
Krysa moved to sit back at Ops. There really wasn't much for her to do
right now but continue to scan the area. However, her mind began to wander
unfortunately not to the things she should have been thinking about.

"Krysa?" Jerran called. The Ops officer didn't answer as she leaned back in
her chair.
"Lt.!" called Maril.
Krysa spun to look at him, "Sir?"
"You need to recalibrate your right sensor sweep," he said sternly.
Krysa looked down at her panel and saw the light blinking. "Of course,
sir." She said quickly making the adjustments that any first year cadet
ought to do without even thinking during a sensor sweep.
Jerran chuckled, "Now you know why I don't let you fly my ships anymore."
Krysa grinned at him. "That's because you don't know how to share, Mr.
Jerran. Something most kindergartners have already learned."
The light hearted joking had served to relieve a bit of tension from the
bridge. However, Mr. Maril was not amused.
"This is the bridge of a starship, Lts." He said from behind them. Krysa
looked up at him and nodded. She could see the tension in his face as well
as feel it emanating from him. He'd been kept off the last two away teams
and she could see that he wasn't pleased about it.
The past week, surveying the wreckage of the SERAPIS and the introduction
of the Reavers, had been difficult on the entire crew. They'd known it
wouldn't be a pleasant mission, and they'd prepared as best they could. But
it was impossible for any of them to simply brush off the effects of the
devastation they'd had to salvage.
And now with the introduction of an enemy like the Reavers, who seemed to
have little regard for any form of life, the crew was becoming
overwhelmed. She knew that was a part of her distraction. She still made it
a habit of surveying the general feelings of the crew and the more agitated
they became, the more agitated she also found herself.
