“Whats he doing?” Jack asked over the din of the phaser, disrupter fire and occasional Klingon bellow. | |||
“Who?” Sean said, his attention firmly on the four Romulans who were trying to get around on their flank. He finally ducked down to take a quick look in the direction Jack was pointing. “Whats he doing?” Sean finally exclaimed. | |||
“That’s what I said!” The captain replied as he took aim and brought down a chunk of ceiling support on the Romulans. The plan had been to keep the phasers on stun so as not to make a bad situation much worse. But as things were slowly spinning out of anyone’s control and as he looked down at the dwindling power level of his phaser he was being increasingly more creative. He didn’t want to kill any Romulans for several reasons. First, as a Starfleet officer he was keenly aware of the political situation and dead Romulans would increase the already present tension exponentially. Next, this mission was a fiasco on the Starfleet side of things and he had little doubt the Romulans that had been dispatched here were just as confused with the whole mess. Judging from the very young age and relative inexperience of the majority of troopers they faced he had his suspicions that this was a training mission that had been given an impossible set of orders merely because they happened to be closest to the scene. Sixty veteran Romulans would have walked right through the 6 Starfleet officers, even with a bunch of crazed Klingons running around and swinging their Bat’leths at anything that moved. All of that meant, that unless he or his team were in mortal danger he was trying very hard not to take any Romulan lives. He found himself laughing at the idea that they weren’t in any mortal danger yet. | |||
“Do you think he knows he’s going the wrong way?” Sean asked. | |||
Jack shook his head. “You never can tell with Stile. Let’s give him some help.” On the count of three both men bobbed up from behind the half wall and laid down suppressing fire allowing the doctor to sprint and then slide his way over. | |||
“Good day gentlemen, how are y’all doing.” | |||
“Peachy.” Sean replied. | |||
“Whats our status?” Jack demanded. | |||
“Our getaway shuttle is on the roof as are the rest of the team. I volunteered at great personal danger to stroll over here and inquire if you will be returning with us or if you’ve had a change of allegiance and decided to join up with our green blooded friends yonder?” | |||
“Do we have Sachen?” | |||
“We do. He is on the roof but at this point there seems to be some confusion as to how he got there.” | |||
“Time to go then.” Jack decided. | |||
“Only problem is that they seem to have cut off our nearest escape route.” Sean said as he pointed over to the squad of Romulans who had taken up position in front of the gateway leading to the stairwell. | |||
Jack grabbed for his communicator. “I’m going to order the shuttles to depart. They’ve completed the mission and the longer they sit there the more the danger increases. We’ll have to get out of here on our own.” | |||
“Now hold on a second.” Stile said as he took a long pull of his cigar. “Granted the direct route might be bit tricky however there is always a Plan B.” | |||
“Like?” Sean prompted. | |||
“This!” Stile swung his plasma rifle around and set it to wide beam. With a grin he aimed at the nearby wall and fired blowing a hole through to the access tunnel. “Shall we?” | |||

As you can see I have used all my years of ASR experience to fix the continuity problem by merely hitting the fast forward/vague answer button. Stile would be proud! | |||
