III.    BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Balthazar “Grey” Westcot was born to a well off family in the Chelsea section of old London on Earth. He attended boarding schools including Westminster School until attending Clare College, Cambridge University. During his early schooling he was never quite at home, finishing at the lower end of each form and having records for violating curfew, usually by climbing out of windows. Teachers uniformly praised his intelligence, but challenged his focus and interests.

Upon starting in the engineering program after acceptance to Clare College (due to family influence), he found a focus and drive and an environment that he could apply himself to. He focused on electrical engineering areas and also, at the urging of a mentor, delved into the study of philosophy including cognitive theory and understanding machine thought.

After a falling out with his parents over not wanting to enter the family finance business, Grey joined Starfleet and entered Officer Candidate School, selecting as an Engineering officer and gaining first assignment aboard a large combat shuttle carrier. He followed a normal career path until a turn to support technology development for OSFI. There he was involved in engineering small items that could be assembled from components hidden in common items without using a replicator.

After an extended double tour supporting OSFI, he was convinced to return to the Fleet and take a position as a Chief Engineer, selecting for an anti-piracy cruiser. Due to last minute shifts, he was instead posted to the CIRCE.

Following his graduation from Command and Staff College, his father began to have a different view and relax his view of Grey and his choices.

Greyson has a passion for tea, making sure that he has a pot and non-replicated tea from across the Federation. He has a small collection of teapots along with his teas.
