USS FEYNMAN: Short post for your friendly Ship's Counselor

by Kristen Gant 1-1-1996

[Zane to Ensign Jenn.]

“Jenn here.”

[Ensign would you report to my office and when your duties allow?]

“On my way.”

Stardate: 80101.0635
Scene: Counselor’s Office
Shipdate: 1.2145

Krysa was startled from her meditation with the creature by the FO. It was probably a good thing. The captain had ordered the ship to leave the anomaly behind to go help the colonists. Krysa had the distinct feeling that they would eventually have to deal with the anomaly any when they were done anyway.

She quickly stood and headed for Commander Zane’s Office.

Scene: FO’s Office Shipdate: 1.2230

Commander Zane filled Krysa in on some ships operations and answered some questions for her.

“Any other questions?” the Commander asked her.

Krysa thought about it for a short time and then decided not to mention her recent contact with the anomaly. She still was unsure as to what she was dealing with. She was very sure she was getting an accurate picture of what the creature was feeling, but the empathic capabilities of the creature were still in question. Maybe her own fear had been clouding her senses. She wanted to wait until she was sure.

“No, Commander, not at this time. But I promise that when something comes up, I’ll call you.”

The Commander nodded, and dismissed her. Krysa quickly headed out the door. She was very tired. She had had very little rest in the last few days since graduating from training. There was still a few hours before Alpha shift would start. She figured she should take full advantage of it.

Scene: Counselor’s Quarters Shipdate: 1.2245

Krysa relaxed as she slipped under the covers. She was really looking forward to this nights sleep.

NRPG:

Andy: Hope your FIL is feeling better.

All: I am also kinda out of it right now. I had a disturbing Dr.’s appt. on Saturday. More tests scheduled for Wed. Keep your fingers crossed that this won’t require surgery. If it does, I’ll let you know. Until then I am available, just stressed<EG>

Also, I still haven't figured out what GMT time is. Can anyone tell me how to calculate it from any US time zone. I can take it from there. As of today, I am still using CST (Central Standard Time) which is what it is here in the Chicago 'burbs<G>

BTW, Happy New Year!!

USS FEYNMAN: Maril's Quarters

by Max Felsher 1-3-1996

SD 80103.1330(GMT)

Lt. Maril's Quarters

Lt. Maril woke up, still feeling somewhat tired, but knowing he would have to be on the Bridge in 45 minutes to relieve SCPO Meln.

"Bajoran pasta with caliterio sauce," Maril ordered from the replicator. As he pulled the dish off of the replicator, he got into his uniform and took a glance at the current situation.

"Hmmm. Eve is now only traveling at Warp 7.7. It must be really tired," he said to himself. He then finished his breakfast and started walking towards his office at about 0715 hours.

As he walked into his office, he saw that WO Ein was already there. "Oh, I didn't realize you were coming here, sir," he blurted out quickly. "It is alright, Ein. Someone should be here most of the time. So, what has happened?"

"We are approximately 6 hours away from the Delta-Tyron system. The anomaly has slowed to Warp 7.7. We have received several more distress signalsee you."

"He did?" Maril asked, surprised.

"Yes, sir, he did."

"Well, where is he?"

"I believe he went back to Docking Bay 12, sir."

"Lieutenant Maril to Lieutenant Williams. You wanted to see me?"

[Yes, sir. I'll be right there...where are you?]

"I'm in my office. Maril out."

A few minutes later the confident Marine walked through the door. "Hello, Mr. Williams. What did you want to see me about?"

"Well, sir, with all due respect, I'm on to your game."

"My game?"

"Yes, your game. I know we've been gipped."

"Gipped?"

"Yes. The Marines have less power to use per capita than any other section on the entire ship!"

"Well, Mr. Williams, when I organized the power grid, I gave a 5% increase to every section and I gave your section, which had not existed before, 7.5% of the power. Now, I did not organize it by the number of people in a section! Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir," the somewhat startled MCO replied.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a shift on the Bridge very soon."

With that, Lt. Maril walked out of his office, leaving 1st Lt. Williams alone and a little bit confused.

NRPG: All:I didn't want to add anything to the thread in case someone wanted to add something during the GAMMA shift. By the way, we should be at Delta-Tyron at about 1300 hours(ALPHA shift).
Jason:I believe Koreth is in charge for the BETA shift.
Colby:Same for Charles, except GAMMA.
Andrew:One question:When an officer has a shortened ALPHA shift, is it from 0745-1200 or from 1145-1600?

USS FEYNMAN: Arrival in the Delta-Tyron System

by Andrew Nugteren 1-4-1996

Stardate: 80104
Ship's Date: 2.1300
Scene: Bridge

"Sir," the helmsman plucked up. "We are entering the Delta-Tyron system."

Paul looked the part of a relaxed Commanding Officer, although inside his head thoughts were rushing around helter-skelter. "Very well," he replied. "Take us out of warp. Maximum impulse toward the planet. Standard orbit."

Several minutes passed. "Standard orbit, sir."

In the hours leading up to the arrival, the away team had been prepared. This was perhaps the largest planetside operation the USS FEYNMAN had been involved in so far, and in addition to the officers beaming down, a large team of Engineers and Medical Staff were also to accompany them. Who was to know what assistance the colony would need?

"Mr. Zane, prepare the away team for beam down."

"Aye sir," Zane grinned. In a way he still wished that he would be aboard the ship, but the Captain's job was to his ship and there was always the possibility of danger on a planet-side mission. "Mr. Tok, Mr. Maril, Mr. Koreth. Report to Transporter Room 2 in 10 minutes."

==========
Ship's Date: 2.1320 Scene: Transporter Room 2

The four chosen officers stood on the transporter pads awaiting beam down. In the heart of the ship, the many other security, engineering and medical staff also stood awaiting the order. Zane was not one to muck around waiting.

"Mr. Woeghenhart, *Energize*"

A few moments later, the shimmering had died down and the platform was empty. The transporter room doors opened almost immediately, and likewise all around the ship, as the various equipment needed on the planet was assembled in place for beam-down. Among the various items Zane had requested were a portable high-output power generator, several phase controllers, various manipulative equipment and other essentials such as food/water, and medical supplies. This equipment too shimmered its way down to the surface only moments later.

Ship's Date: 2.1322 Scene: Bridge

[Commander Zane to Bridge.]

"Paul here. Go ahead."

[It's a real mess down here, though probably nothing we can't deal with. We're fine.]

"Thank you Zane," Paul replied. "I expect we'll be back within 2-3 days after we conclude our investigations. Feynman out."

Paul stood and moved over to the helm.

"Helmsman. Lay in an intercept course for 'Eve'. Maximum impulse, Warp 8.5 when we're out of the system. Engage!"

Respectfully submitted Cmdr. Paul Paxwax

<<NRPG>>

Okay everyone... there's a lot of time passed aboard the ship since the last post came in. In the interim the probe that was being prepared has been launched, and I imagine we have the results of its investigation to hand. Obviously nothing that made the Captain change his mind. I just felt it would be good to keep our investigations moving along again.

Planetside team: Since Andy C is probably still going to be away for a few more days with his FIL, Max will be in charge of the team in the interim. Our CMO is still on holiday for almost another three weeks so that leaves Andy C/Max/Jason on the planet.

Following along the lines of Jason's post, maybe something can be found planetside that confirms/denies the existance of this cloaked ship idea. I imagine there's plenty of work to do if the colony has been damaged as much as we thought it was. If the colony sensors can be made to work, perhaps you guys can observe the second anomoly that's near the planet. Let's get writing!

Shipside team: Anyone go ahead and write away. I imagine we'll be both investigating 'Eve' and possibly the cloaked ship. I've a few ideas as I dearsay you all do as well.

Kristen: My fingers are crossed!

Colby: Welcome back!

USS FEYNMAN: Counselor to the Bridge

by Kristen Gant 1-4-1996

Stardate: 80104.1222
Scene: Counselor’s Office
Ship’s Date: 2.1330

Krysa Jenn was in her office going over the many files that she needed to familiarize herself with. The Feynman had a ships complement of over 400 people. Reading through 400 bios would be impossible, but she did need to organize them and at least have a fair understanding of who she would be dealing with. Once they were organized they would be available for her perusal at a moments notice.

Looking up she noticed the stars starting to slide by the viewport, indicating that the ship was going back into warp. Krysa realized that meant that the Captain had transported the assistance team down to the colony and they were now headed out to meet the anomaly, “Eve”. She decided now was the time to report to the bridge to see what she could do to help.

Securing her computer data, she got up from her desk and headed for the bridge.

Scene: Bridge
Ship’s Date: 2.1345

Krysa entered the bridge. This was her first time on the bridge of the FEYNMAN. The captain sat in his chair looking remarkably relaxed and in control. The rest of the bridge crew were busily doing thier jobs and if they took note of her entrance didn’t bother to acknowledge it.

The Captain, on the other hand, looked up at her and stood and beckoned her over. “Welcome to the bridge, Ens. Jenn.”

“Thank you, Sir. I realized that we must be heading out to intercept “Eve”, so I thought I’d like to be here when we did.”

“Of course,” the Captain said.

“Sir, I do have a theory, I’d like to discuss with you when you have a moment. It might add a little to our investigations.”

Respectfully,
Ens. Krysa Jenn, Ship's Counselor, USS FEYNMAN

NRPG: My theory being that “Eve” is a baby or young one. That’s the total that I can add at this point<G> I don’t know what happened to the other creature, or “Eve” for that matter, but I’m assuming since she was following the ship we will meet her very soon.

Colby: Thanks for the info on the time zones<G> I think I got it.

Andrew: Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed<BG> I think it worked. No invasive surgical procedures are necessary at this time. I think I was just being paranoid. Though doc said to continue watching for the next month or so just to be sure<G> Doctors can be so annoying<EG>

"In addition to our starved conditions before that...thing attacked, we were also severely damaged in its attack," Lt. Commander Delvik, the CO of the science station, told them.

"Commander, you call it a thing. Do you not know what it is?" Lt. Maril inquired.

"No, unfortunately, our sensors were knocked out almost immediately after the attack began."

"Very well," Zane sighed. "Mr. Maril, Mr. Koreth, you will work on repairing the station and restoring power. If you get a chance, contact the security station on this planet. Also-"

"That may be a little tough because the security station is on the other side of the planet," Delvik interrupted.

"Well, how did you communicate with them before?" Koreth asked, a little impatient.

"Well, we had some communication satelites and we were planning a base on the second moon, but then we were attacked and all of our satelites were knocked out."

"Well, then," Zane continued, "it may be a little harder. But, as I was saying, Mr. Maril, Mr. Koreth, you might be able to check the cloaked ship theory if you have the time. Now, Mr. Tok, you should probably see to the wounded and the starving. Dismissed."

As Maril and Koreth walked away, Maril said, "I suggest we split up, Mr. Koreth. Now, although I do have some engineering training, I believe you are the more experienced engineer. Because of that, you should take the primary systems. I'll take the secondary systems. When we are done, we will meet here. Is that fine with you?"

"Yes it is, sir," Lt.<jg> Koreth replied.

As the two officers walked away from each other, Maril sat down at a console and started to work. It wasn't easy. Almost the entire sensor array had been destroyed. At last, though, he got at least some sensor readings. He was able to restore most of the other secondary systems as well. At about 1530 hours, the senior officers met again.

"We have sensors and communications, and Lieutenant Koreth has told me that all of the major systems have been restored, although there is still quite a bit of damage," Maril reported.

"The station has been supplied and the wounded have been tended to," Lt.<jg> Tok told Zane.

"Very good. Gather up all the personnel. We'll leave as soon as the Feynman gets back," Zane ordered.

Just then, Delvik entered the room. "Wait. We appreciate all that you've done. And we'd like to thank you." As he said that, the sound of phaser rifles being aimed was heard. As the officers turned around, they could see several soldiers armed with rifles pointed straight at them.

Delvik smiled. "Computer, save program," he said.

"It is like Rekgia at Seliro," Maril said to himself. "What?" Delvik asked, confused.

"Just a metaphor. Rekgia was the captain of a Derestian fleet. Seliro was an enemy city. Seliro offered friendship to Deresta in order to lure Rekgia in. Rekgia seemed to fall for it and the Selirans were ready to capture Rekgia's fleet. However, as they were about to do so, a Derestian army attacked the city and conquered the city. You, sir, are the governor of Seliro," Maril told the story of the metaphor. Then, very quickly, he said, "Computer, run sequence - Maril, Gamma, Rekgia, 9, Maril." The four officers *appeared* to beam away.

"Very well Counsellor. Mr. Ein," he said to the Officer on Watch. "The Counsellor and I will be in my ready room. Notify me if there are any changes to our current situation."

"Aye sir."

==========
Scene: Captain's Ready Room

Paul gestured towards one of the comfortable chairs in front of his desk. The polished marble surface glinted with a reflection of the starscape streaming past. Paul sat back in his chair and gave Krysa a moment to collect her thoughts.

"You had a theory to discuss, Counsellor?"

"Yes sir. I think that Eve is a young one of her species, a child. Initially I sensed fear, fear that turned to comfort as it picked up a Betazoid song I was singing to myself. Captain, I think it needs protection."

"Protection from what?"

"We as children rely on our parents Captain. They supply us with all that we need to survive. I think that Eve has been seperated from her mother."

Paul scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Hmmm.. There is a possibility that the other anomoly near the planet is in fact another creature, perhaps even its mother, so to speak. Why wouldn't it simply fly back though. It certainly has the speed."

"Maybe it can't see, or sense the other presence. So far it's been following our subspace emissions. Perhaps that is how it *see's*. Perhaps we could act as its guide."

Paul considered this carefully as well. "Paxwax to Bridge. ETA for the rendevzous with Eve?"

[ETA 43 minutes now sir.]

Paul turned back to Krysa. "We'll give it a go. I'd like you on the bridge when we meet Eve, Counsellor," he ordered. "Maybe you can calm it and show Eve that we mean no harm."

Ensign Thomas Jared was busy making minute adjustments to the Anti-matter storage when the call came through from the bridge. He answered immediately.

[Ensign. I'd like you to modify our subspace emmissions to provide us with an obvious trail behind us. We're going to have Eve follow us back to the planet.]

"Aye sir. We'll be ready."

Kristen: I figured I had to expand on your idea a bit. We couldn't have the Cousnellor figure everything out <G>

Jason: I know you're on the planet, but you could still write in for your NPC's aboard the FEYNMAN. (the offers open for anybody else too :-) Also, I haven't discarded your "cloaked ship" idea. I think it will fit in nicely with what's happening on the planet!

Max: I see you've got yourselves into a bit of trouble. btw, this isn't a holodeck simulation. You can't just halt the program! Good luck!

Andy: Good to see you back again!

Maril and Zane strode toward the station's research center. There was a lot of work to be done. The two officers sat down at the consoles inside, and got to work.

"It appears that we were correct. The station's log reports several experiments with Mu-spectrum radiation on the atmosphere of the third moon," Maril reported.

"Well, that's at least a step forward. Is that what attracted the anomalies?"

"Actually, it looks like it wasn't. It may be that our original theory about subspace activity is the correct one."

"Does the Mu-spectrum radiation have anything to do with it?"

"Well, it does appear that 'Eve' appeared at the time of a Mu-spectrum radiation burst from the station." Just then, the station's Red Alert sirens went off.

"We better go see what this is about," Zane said. They walked as quickly as they could, but it still took them a while to get to the station's Command Center. When they did, they found that the highest ranking officer there was a Lt.<jg>.

"What's happening here?" Zane asked that officer.

"There was a disturbance in orbit of the planet, and now it's just become the anomaly that was here before,...sir."

"Very well," Zane said. "As of right now, I'm relieving you of command."

The officer stood down and took the Tactical station while Maril took Ops.

"Commander, the anomaly is interfering with our communication with the Feynman," Maril reported.

"Is there any way to cut through it?" Zane asked.

"Possibly, if we use a lower subspace frequency....Wait, there seems to be a pattern to the interference. It could be a form of communication. I'm putting it through the Universal Translator." After waiting for a few moments, Maril continued, "It appears to be quite primitive. Should I play the translation?"

"Make it so."

In a somewhat crackly voice, the translation began: [You...take...baby...... Hard, slow flyer...take...mate......You...get hurt.]

"Atmosphere becoming very unstable," Maril reported.

"Try to send a communication saying we mean no harm," Zane ordered.

"Sending communication," Maril said.

The sun has met the sea, Lieutenant Onta Maril, Second/Operations Officer, USS Feynman, aka Max Felsher

NRPG: All:Forgot to put it in the post, but the "hard, slow flyer" is the Feynman(hard as in solid(as opposed to the anomalies)and slow because it's slower than the anomalies).

USS FEYNMAN: Tactical Situation

by Colby D. Beck 1-6-1996

Ship's Date 2.1425
Stardate 80105
Scence: Bridge

Jordan was keeping a close eye on Eve and on the colony to make sure nothing snuck up on it. He was still bothered by the power flux between Eve and the other anomoly. Something made him think they were connected. He would explre that on his own time. Now he had to try and find the second anomoly and hope it wouldn't interfere with their meeting with Eve.

As Jordan made a routine senor sweep off the port side, he caught a glimse of a...well a something. Unsure as to his readings, he did another sensor check. The disturbance, was moving at a speed just slightly faster than the Feynman, and was keeping a constant distance of 50,000 Kms. Jordan decided to test a theory.

"Captain, I've picked up some sort of spacial disturbance off to port. It appears to be moving. Its position has changed along with ours. Its impossible to pin down, but I would say, it is trying to stay just ahead of us. I would suggest a change in speed to warp 8 and a change in heading to 101 mark 4 to see if the disturbance matches us. It wouldn't slow our arrival to Eve, and we could return to the previous heading once we see if this things turns with us."

"Very well, Helm, change speed to warp 8 and come to heading 101 mark 4."

As the ship made her adjustments, Jordan eyed the disturbance. As he thought, the thing was moving with the ship. Its speed increased to warp 8.2 and it heading changed to maintain its position off the port bow.

"Captain, the disturbance has increased its speed again to warp 8.2 and is maintaining its position off our port. Either it is a complex sensor echo, which is unlikely because the sensors are operating correctly, a space being like we suspect Eve to be, or it is a ship with a crude, or malfunctioning cloak. I would suggest yellow alert."

"Can you get any idea of its size Ensign?" The Captain asked.

"Not with any kind of specificity, but it is big, definitely bigger than Eve."

All: Ok...I'm a bit off on the cloaked ship Idea because I was going with Kristen's baby/mommy idea, but this may work.

The two-person security team stood, actually shivered, watching the display on the motion detector. "Whatever it is its moving slowly."

They had been monitoring the unknown for two minutes. It was definitly heading for the research station and although it was only 500m away they were unable to ascertain what it was. The electromgnetic elements in the storm and in the canyon walls which surrounded the station had left the tricorders all but inoperative. Both wanted to get a closer look but the orders from their superior had been clear, they were to wait for reinforcements.

"I think I hate this place." the first one spoke.

"You think! Can you come up with a place that is worse?"

"Well let's see. It's -40 C, visibility is about 1 metre, the electromags make my body feel like it crawling with insects and we've got an unknown on its way. There's worse places."

"Name one...the unknown is slowing."

"Report." A new voice joined the conversation. Both men turned to see WO Kir Tiaman. _________________________________________________________________________

"Any response?" Zane asked.

"No sir." Maril's fingers flew across the board. "However, the lifeform seems to have taken a more 'peaceful posture' I will keep trying to communicate."

Zane turned to the young officer he had assumed command from. "Civilian research station's don't generally have a Lieutenant junior grade in command...."

"I'm from the garrison sir. We noticed strange emanations coming from the facility that did not correspond with the research we were briefed on. I was sent to investigate, but moments after I arrived all hell broke loose."

"What type of emmissions?"

"Unknown sir. We're only a military outpost. We didn't have the scientific equipment to examine them with. Have you had any contact with the Garrison? I can't get through."

"No." Zane frowned. "The garrison is still just a very large question mark."

"I've established contact with the lifeform." Maril announced triumphantly. "I've explained our peaceful intentions and told it the ship is here to help find its baby. It's not sure if it trusts us but its agreed not to attack....for now."

"Good work lieutenant! Forward the information to the FEYNMAN."

[Warrant Officer Kir to Commander Zane.]

"Zane here, go ahead."

[Sir, we found a survivor of the garrison. He claims the base was destroyed and he escaped in a shuttle which crashed just short of the facility.]

"What's his condition?" Zane asked

[Relatively unharmed. We are currently enroute to your position.]

"Understood. Zane out."

Maril and Zane traded a glance. The young lieutenant who claimed to be a member of the garrison force seemed unaffected by the news of the potential death of all his comrades.

Zane was getting worried. His instincts were telling him that not all was going as well as it seemed. "Zane to Lieutenant Koreth."

Silence.

"Lieutenant Koreth. Report!"

Paul nodded carefully to himself, considering their options quickly in his head. "All right Mr Charles, go to Yellow Alert."

Jordan adjusted a few controls on his console, and ordered Yellow Alert to all stations.

"Paxwax to Engineering. Is the subspace emission generator ready yet?"

[Engineering. All but, sir. We're just completing some final touches.]

The communication broke off, and was continued only seconds later. [Engineering to Bridge. We're all done here.]

"Well done," Paul replied. "Prepare to activate on my mark from the bridge. Paxwax out."

Paul turned back and faced his Operations Officer. "Mr. Ein," he began. "I intend to increase speed to maximum warp and tow 'Eve' along behind us. I'm gambling that if the ship off our bow has such a faulty cloaking device that they won't be able to match our speed. There is also the possibility that 'Eve' following so closely behind us may in fact modify our own warp bubble and increase our speed. We've seen that she can certainly match us warp for warp."

"Aye sir," Ein responded. "I'll adjust the reactor flows."

Paul steadied himself for a moment on the armrest of his chair, and then sank thankfully into it. "Bridge to Engineering, activate now!! Helm, increase speed to Warp 9.6."

"Warp 9.6 sir."

"Sir, 'Eve' has begun to follow us. She has our same heading and speed."

"The cloaked ship is maintaining our new speed sir," Jordan spoke from Tactical.

"Helm, increase to Warp 9.7"

"The cloaked ship is still maintaining our new speed," Jordan confirmed.

"Warp 9.8"

"Still maintaining sir."

The officer at the helm turned in alarm. "Captain, my console is showing an increase in speed to Warp 9.85, wait Warp 9.87 now."

"Adjust your speed then," Paul replied.

"The controls are reading our set Warp still at 9.8, yet we *are* travelling at 9.9 now."

"Red Alert," Paul ordered. "Mr. Charles, the other ship."

"It's losing ground on us," Jordan confirmed. "Eve is still maintaining our new speed."

Mr. Ein at the Operations Console spoke up. "Captain, our ship-based energy readings are climbing rapidly. It appears that in entering our Warp Bubble, Eve has managed to transfer energy both onto the ship, and also to increase the efficiency of our warp bubble. That would account for our increasing speed."

"Warp 9.93," Helm continued the commentary. "Warp 9.94. Still increasing."

Respectfully submitted Cmdr. Paul Paxwax

I guess travelling quickly improves the time to reunite our two teams, plus the time to return Eve to her 'mother' :-) And now, who *is* in that cloaked ship <G>

USS FEYNMAN: I'm Still Here on the Bridge

by Kristen Gant 1-8-1996

Stardate: 80107.1334
Ship’s Date: 2.1445
Scene: Bridge

Counselor Krysa Jenn watched the viewscreen with great interest. The anomaly/creature “Eve”, was following them and it seemed, actually pushing them to get where they were going. Then Krysa had a fleeting thought. What was “Eve” actually afraid of? “Eve” wanted her mother. That much Krysa was sure of. But it occurred to her that “Eve’s” fear went beyond being afraid of being lost and alone.

“Captain. I think “Eve” is afraid of that ship out there. Whatever happened to these creatures was caused by that ship. I’m almost positive of it. It just makes sense.”

“I think you are right, Ens. The two events are definitely related.”

Krysa felt herself tense. They had a terrified creature and a clocked, probably hostile ship following them.

Regards, Ens. Krysa Jenn, Ship’s Counselor, USS Feynman

NRPG: I know it isn’t much, but I am feeling some limitations here on what I can do as a counselor and as a brand new member of the crew<G>. Just wanted you all to know that I’ve had my say, and I’m still here watching and listening.

Colby: Andy pointed out to me that the Feynman is supposed to look black. Don’t know if that picture can be darkened up enough. Don’t know how I missed that in the specs<EG>

USS FEYNMAN: Delta-Tyron VII Science Station

by Max Felsher 1-8-1996

SD 80108.2215(GMT) ShD 2.1700 Delta-Tyron VII Science Station:Command Center

As Maril continued to scan for any further action, four officers walked in, one leading and two others helping the last.

"Hello," Zane said, getting up. "I am Lieutenant Commander Zane. Who are you?" gesturing towards the one who was being supported.

"My name is Ensign Steven Calder. I was assigned to the Delta-Tyron VII Security Garrison," the officer said weakly.

"Can you tell us what happened, Ensign?" Zane asked.

"Everything was normal. Then, all of a sudden, an unknown vessel decloaked in orbit. They attacked us. We were no match for them. Lieutenant Fielter, our CO, ordered me to get over here and warn you. I did, and as I left, I saw the Garrison exploding. As I neared here, my engines just failed. It had to have been sabotage, sir," the Ensign explained.

"One more question, Ensign. This man has claimed to be from your garrison," pointing to the Lt.<jg> who had been in command earlier. "Do you know him?" "I've never seen him in my life," he replied.

"This man lies! Do you actually trust him, with his wild account of unknown ships and sabotage?" the Lt.<jg> exclaimed.

As he said this, his hand started to morph into a knife. He walked behind the Ensign and stabbed him in the back. He staggered forward, then collapsed on the floor.
"Grab that man!" Zane cried out, trying to carry out his order himself.

As security officers rushed towards the shapeshifter, it again morphed-this time into a Ktarian porcupine. It shot out several poisonous quills, one of which hit Lt. Maril in the arm. Maril cringed in pain but stayed conscious. As the security officers gave the shapeshifter some distance, it rushed out of the room.

"Security Alert!" Zane said over the intercom system. "A hostile shapeshifter is on the loose!" Then, to Maril, he asked, "Are you okay? How is Ensign Calder?"

"I will be fine, but Mr. Calder definitely needs medical attention," Maril replied.

"Why don't you take him there, Lieutenant, since you are slightly injured yourself."

"Aye, sir."

Maril grabbed Calder and pulled him up. Supporting Calder with his arm, Maril walked out of the room.

"Do not worry. You will be pulled from the Sedjera Trench, as Gubali was," Maril tried to comfort the injured security officer.

As they neared the Infirmirary, they met Dr. Tok, who suggested they continue as it would be easier to treat the problem there.

However, as they walked into the room, they saw Dr. Tok in there. Dr. Tok was standing right next to them, yet he was further into the room, near the biobed. Who was Devillus and who was Jekeli? Maril didn't really know.

NRPG: All:Wasn't this supposed to be a simple "mail run"? Well, I guess something exciting has to happen. :)
BTW, Maril should be delirious and/or ill as the poison in his blood returns to a gelatinous state. Does anybody know who the real Tok is? :)
