Father: Marcus Callas, a human born on Alpha Centauri Prime.  Marcus was an chief mining engineer who worked at Drakan IV 
for a large mining corporation who mined deep core mines for valuable metals and ores. He died at age 78 in a mining 
accident on Drakan IV.

Mother: T’rell, Vulcan born on Vulcan, age 113 standard years.  T’rell was a praised and highly praised diplomat and 
member of the Vulcan Ambassador Council.  She spend most of her time on Drakan IV as first liaison and aide to the 
Vulcan Ambassador in the system.  She married Marcus Callas at age 78 and gave birth to Marasmius after 7 years of 
marriage.  When Marcus died she transferred back to Vulcan to move closer to her relatives and away from the place 
where her husband died.

Today she spends most of her time as head of the Embassy of Vulcan and takes little time of to visit her son on Earth.

Marasmius is only child and has little contact with the rest of his family.  Part because he lives on Earth away from 
Vulcan, part because he has embraced the old religion of V'tosh ka'tur.
He has spend part of his youth on Drakan IV where he spend a lot of his time with his father in the mines and with his 
mother on social occasions.  He had very few friends but the few he had where very close and appreciated his keen and 
smart mind.

On Vulcan he had some troubles in adapting to the cold, logical and emotionless ways the Vulcans praise so much.  
Marasmius had spent most of his time with more emotional species and was never pressed to abandon his emotions.  
Although half Vulcan he had become used to express and appreciate the possibility of having and expressing emotions.

On Vulcan he was taught that emotions where not appreciated and need to be suppressed.  Mixed with these opposite 
feelings he studied the ancient history of Vulcan and embraced the V'tosh ka'tur.  This was not appreciated and 
certainly not accepted by many of his fellow students and instructors. 

After his time on Vulcan he took some time of to help his mother with her social and diplomatic tasks and traveled 
across the galaxy to plot out his future possibilities and wishes.  After several short relations and jobs he decided 
to graduate at Vulcan in Science and Engineering and then go for a position as Officer in Star Fleet. He went to the 
Vulcan Science Academy for a undergraduate work in Warp Systems Science and Engineering and was able to keep his 
emotions under control for the most of the time and graduated with high grades.

After the Academy he worked for some years at Luna and then was offered a possibility at the  Star Fleet Postgraduate 
School for his doctorate. There he studied and helped in designing and creating advanced shielding techniques and 
propulsion upgrades.  he also spend some time practicing martial arts.

Simultaniously with his work to earn a doctorate he joined the Officer Candidate School coincident with his doctorate 
program to earn his grade as Star Fleet officer.

After his doctorate he kept working as an assistant on SFA San Francisco untill he was assigned to the USS EXCALIBUR 
as science officer.  A bit reluctant he joined the EXCALIBUR as chief science officer and had a difficult time to 
adapt to the life aboard a starship and the military regime of StarFleet.

V'tosh ka'tur:

The v'tosh ka'tur was a Vulcan term which translates as "Vulcans without logic”. In the 22nd century, the term was 
taken as a name by a diverging branch of the Vulcan people who were considered 'outcasts' by their brethren.

This is because the group believe that far from abandoning logic entirely, It would be wise to use emotions in their 
life.  The main believe was that emotions should not be repressed but actually work in balance with logic and thus 
gain the profits and advantages of both. To continue their line of beliefs without interference from the Elders, the 
group journeyed in a starship and left their homeworld of Vulcan.

Although Marasmius often acts and behaves as a full - blood and true Vulcan, he acknowledges the fact that he has and 
feels emotions and tries to work with them.  He also tries to be in control f his emotions, rather then have his 
emotions and feelings control his life and behaviour.


Traditions:

Tries to keep in shape by one hour combat training each day, loves long warm baths while reading a book and drinking 
a good cup of Raktahinjo.
			

Ambitions:

Marasmius is not a very ambitious person, he is quiet happy with his life as scientist and the ability to publish his 
findings in several well-respected magazines. 

This all changed when he was forced to adopt a little Romulan girl named Mayia.  During a rescue mission at a Romulan 
colony named ToVok'kor Callas was able to safe some of the colonist, but in the attempt the mother of the girl died 
in rescuing Marasmius.

After the mission Marasmius tried to find the father from the girl, only to discover the man was not the biological 
father of the child but only interested in the mother.  The father was willing to sell the child to Marasmius for a 
huge prize.  Since then Marasmius finds himself responsible for the girl, together with the Andorian female, Sheres, 
who had turned out to be an excellent, although rather unusual foster - mother for the girl.

In addition to this situation he has made an oath to once find the man that made him pay for Mayia to adopt her and 
bring him for justice.  He also finds it a repulsive idea that, in a way, he "owns" Mayia because he was forced to 
pay a price for her adoption.

Chronology:

0-14:   Lived with parents on Drakan IV.

12-14:  Attended Drakan IV High School

14-22:  Moved to Vulcan with his mother after his father has died in a mining accident on Drakan IV
14-20:  Continued his High school at Vulcan Prime High School.

20-22:  Took two years vacation of school to help his mother with diplomatic issues and travel the galaxy to decide 
about his future.

23-27:   Attended the Vulcan Science Academy . Ended his studies in the top  15 % of his class with Majors in science 
and engineering.

27-30:   Worked as assistant in a computer designing and Artificial Intelligence experimental factory on Luna Colony.  
Helped developing new types of targeting computers, Holodeck AI and was introduced to the science of Propulsion and 
shielding technology.

31-34:  Moved to Earth to attended Star Fleet Postgraduate School to earn a doctorate in Warp and Shielding 
technology.  Helped developing new ways of fluctuating Shielding against Borg and aided with new experiments in 
tachyon drives and improved impulse drives. Earned his degree in fields of Science (propulsion and shielding) 
and Engineering.

31-34: Joined the Officer Candidate School coincident with his doctorate program to earn his grade as Star 
Fleet officer.

34- till SD 190731: works as first assistant in the Star Fleet Postgraduate School while waiting for a position 
in active service in Star Fleet.

SD 2412: Cadet Callas, Marasmius has ended his final physical and physiological examination within the expected 
limits and standards.  he is declared all fit, both mental and physically, for active duty as a Starfleet officer.

Cadet Marasmius Callas has asked for a medical review because of finishing his Doctorate and attending a Active 
Duty position in the Fleet.  There are no reasons to withhold named person for active duty, although, under 
certain circumstances, a guidance by a Counsellor might be needed to control Cadet Callas his emotional outbursts.

Psychological Profile

Cadet Callas has expressed great difficulties to control his emotions and feelings.  Guidance was needed after a 
broken relation with a fellow Cadet but Cadet Callas has shown great progress in this matters.  If he takes 
enough free time and keeps working on his attitude towards his emotions Cadet Callas will be able to function 
perfect in the Fleet.

Commendations and reprimands :

Commendation I:

SD 2405: Although not in a conventional way Marasmius has shown an exemplary attitude in study and scholar activities.  
His input and aide in classes and with other students and professors is highly appreciated by all parties.

Commendation II:

SD 2406: Helping to win the School Interplanetary Athletic Championship is a great effort; doing so by helping and 
training other students to go above and beyond their own capacities is more then remarkable.  Keep up the good work!

Commendation III:

SD 4207: Marasmius given the Cochrane Science Award for his aide in developing new shielding techniques and a 
simulation - program for adaptic shielding.  His work under Professor Blister has given our scientists the 
opportunity to design more powerful shields in a time when threats of enemies in the Galaxy are still around.  



Reprimand I: 

SD 2405: Although it might be necessary in real life the Rules of the Academy are not meant to be bend or 
broken to achieve a goal.  Field-tests and military drills are not only to test Cadets for physical health 
and capabilities but also to test their psychological and emotional state and resistance.  I am sorry to say 
that emotional outbursts and aggression towards fellow students are NOT allowed under any circumstances.  
Cadet Marasmius is hereby condemned to one month public service and a reprimand in his personal record.

Reprimand II: 
SD 2406: Stalking a fellow student and harassing her with holomessages, tri-D calls and unwanted attentions, 
even after a clear notification of the Cadet in question and a reprimand of the Head of the Academy can not 
be tolerated.  A Future StarFleet Officer should be disciplined and well-mannered in all situations.  A person's 
love-life may not interfere with his or her schoolwork and behaviour.  I hereby condemn Marasmius Callas to be 
grounded for two months and excluded from LOA in those two months.  Also apologies to the Cadet in question 
are needed.


Skills:

Marasmius is build as a casual Vulcan male with strong physical musculature, the adaptions to desert life 
(secondary eyelid, high resistance to heat and dehydration, copper based blood).

He has a keen and analytical mind as all Vulcans have.  He is highly capable of analytical evaluations, absorbing 
data and information swift and accurate and can reproduce and summarize large amounts of data fast and detailed.

He has a eye for detail and thrives to find solutions for problems with anything available, even if it is beyond 
standard procedures and outside the casual or normal circumstances.  

Marasmius is well trained as any STF officer in physical and mental abilities and loves hand to hand combat and 
ancient martial techniques.  

Although a Vulcan Marasmius still believes emotions are valid and even useful to someone.  He believe it is 
better to accept emotions and work to control them but not to suppress or denial the possession of emotions.  
This has brought him in trouble more then once as there is a conflict in his heritage and teaching as Vulcan 
and his life on Earth and as Half-breed.  In times of stress he tries to find way to let of steam by training 
in martial arts or going for long hikes and walks, or taking long hot baths.  If under to much stress he can 
get very emotional.
