Welcome to Alt.Starfleet.RPG

Welcome to ASR, or alt.starfleet.rpg- a PBEM interactive role-play game made up of more than 100 writers spread across 17 units assigned to one of three "timelines": the PRIME Universe, which is set around 40 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis, in the Earth calendar year 2422; ORIGINS, the alternate timeline set just after the events of the 2009 Star Trek movie in the Earth calendar year 2261; and BEYOND, the "future" timeline set in the Earth calendar year 2771.

Our writers explore a wide range of topics and missions set on starships, starbases, and planets alike. Writing Groups

ASR: Prime (Stardate: 2422) Contact PRIME Administration Where it all began- in existence since 1991, currently supports 12 starships and starbase writing units spread across three "color" fleets- Gold Fleet, Blue Fleet and Silver Fleet. Their goal: protect the Federation and its members in an ever-increasingly dangerous galaxy, all while pushing the frontiers of science and discovery.

ASR: ORIGINS (Stardate: 2261) Contact ORIGINS Administration Opened in May 2009 shortly after the release of Star Trek in theaters, ORIGNIS is set shortly after the destrcution of Vulcan by the Romulan renegade Nero. The Captains of the Constitution-class starships are tasked with "seeking out new life and new civilizations" first and foremost. But not everyone shares the Federation's high morals and ethics...

ASR: BEYOND (Stardate: 2771) Contact BEYOND Administration The newest ASR creation, this one is set several hundred years beyond ASR's traditional writing groups. Once again, exploration is the focus, as the Federation breaks into the new, vaster frontiers of Bode's Galaxy.

What is ASR?

Alt.StarFleet.RPG (or ASR) is a Usenet newsgroup on the Internet. Using email and Usenet, ASR players create an interactive fiction universe based on Star Trek: The Next Generation, extrapolated approximately 40 years after the end of the series. Players create characters and, along with other players, develop stories set around starships, starbases, and the various beings that inhabit both. ASR, founded in 1991, has grown to 17 role-playing units, organized into 3 distinct timelines, involving around 100 players. It continues to grow and prosper.
