B. Background Summary
---------------------
In the chaos following World War III, the ancient and honourable
Onslow family soon re-established itself as a force for stability
in the South-Eastern area of an England devastated by the ravages
of the Optimum Movement. So the official family history goes, and
since few records exist from before that time, the family's version
of history is generally accepted as true, or close enough.

The Frosts, on the other hand, were colonials--natives of Victoria,
Australia. Before many generations had passed, the accent had been
lost, and nobody batted an eyelid when the heir to the Frost fortune,
Richard, married Lady Evelyn Onslow, assuming control of that august
family's fortunes too.

Anna was their firstborn, a disappointment to a man who wanted a son
to carry on the family name, and a disappointment to a woman who
wanted a daughter who would uphold the family's reputation in the
upper echelons of society. Anna is no society lady, hearkening back
to the adventure-lust and bold independence of her Aussie forefathers:
Her interests lay in the stars and exploration. Starfleet Academy was
glad to accept her upon the recommendation of an influential and
somewhat rebellious uncle, and she was glad to go.

It turned out that society's loss was Starfleet's gain, and Anna
found her true calling--to boldly go where no Frost had gone
before, to seek out new life and new civilisations, and if necessary,
meet aggression and hostility with deadly force and iron will.

The prime example was when the USS ULYSSES, a destroyer, encountered a
Klingon battle-cruiser in the primitive but resource-rich Ar Lucasi
system. Negotiations quickly failed and shots were fired; when Captain
Evan Foster was killed, Anna assumed command. After an inconclusive
skirmish, Anna herself led a boarding party which captured the Klingon
bridge and activated the cruiser's self-destruct system. The people of
Ar Lucasi still speak of 'the bright star that shone in the daytime'.
Her actions that day have had significant consequences for her health,
but Anna nevertheless believes she did the right thing that day.

Perhaps this incident was foreshadowed by her performance during the
infamous 'Kobayashi Maru' test at the Academy: Although she was not
able to 'beat' the test by saving her ship, she did set the record
for the highest number of Klingon casualties inflicted.

In the years since the Ar Lucasi incident, probably due to the influence
of Captain Jack Veld, her CO aboard the USS CONSTELLATION, it seems
Anna has mellowed slightly. During a confrontation with a duplicate
of the CONSTELLATION hailing from a parallel universe, she captured
the hostile vessel and its crew without ordering a single shot fired.
Has the hawk turned over a new leaf and become a dove? Time will tell.

Commander Frost is in superb physical shape, displaying the agility and
stamina of a former Academy gymnastics champion. Her recent injuries have
healed remarkably well and should leave no permanent impairment of
function. Passed fit for active duty.

Commander Frost began exhibiting infrequent bouts of clumsiness and
disorientation. Then she surprised us all--herself included--by walking
right through the door to my office. Diagnostic tests confirmed that her
use of an improperly calibrated Klingon transporter device has damaged
her molecular structure--a condition known as Erickson Transporter
Syndrome. In effect, she partially dematerialises at random, becoming like
a 'ghost'. Currently, the condition is irreversible and, without regular
medication, degenerative.

I have prescribed a daily dose of somatriptin, which should help Commander
Frost keep her 'episodes of fading' under control; and hexamethidine, to
control the physical pain (apparently, falling to pieces at a quantum level
is not a pleasant experience--that's one for the medical books.)

Anna Frost combines a keen intellect, a polished air and a lion's heart.
She conducts herself in a manner which can only be described as ladylike
--polite and calm when possible, but firm and commanding when necessary.

She has an aggressive streak that propels her to great feats of bravery,
and sometimes ruthlessness, that reveals something of the iron fist
inside the velvet glove of her usually-refined manner.

Consequently, she is equally at home in a verbal sparring match with
the Romulan ambassador over cocktails, or going toe to toe with a Klingon

VIII. Current Recreational Interests
====================================
She has recently discontinued her study of the Vulcan ponn-ifla combat
style in favour of the more aggressive kareel-ifla form. When there's the
opportunity, she loves swimming.

Though she would be unlikely to admit it, she occasionally engages in 
needlepoint and crochet--just to increase manual dexterity, you
understand . . . She's a keen baker, having developed a formula for
exploding toffee sauce--harmless but oh-so-messy.

And after years of persistence, she has also had to admit that she is
never going to be a decent violinist!
