Biographical Notes

Chronology:

0-13: Lived with Parents in Marseilles, France. When She was 8 her father passed away, a victim of DHT Outbreak, and her mother took Romana to Delhi for 1 year where she attended an Elementary Educational Facility, then returned to Marseilles.

13-18: Attended Persephone College For Girls - Marseilles, France.

19: Married Daniel Farran Mishta, a prominent multimedia artist and moved to Paris, France.

19-31: Worked in Sustenance Supply Facility in Paris, France. Fell pregnant with daughter, Sigila Mishta-Singh

31: Sigila Mishta-Singh born in Marseilles, France. Husband Daniel Farran Mishta develops drug addiction to medical substance Metacyclone-I, a central nervous system stimulant used by doctors to awaken coma patients.

31-40: Continued work in Paris, France. Daniel Darran Mishta's drug abuse worsens and he begins to physically and mentally abuse Romana and Sigila. Romana attempts to help Daniel with his problem whilst protecting her daughter.

40-41: After 10 years of abuse, Romana collapses at her workplace and is diagnosed with PTS and Maladaptive Anxiety Disorder.

41: During the night, Romana takes her 10 year old daughter Sigila from her bed and attempts to escape Paris to stay with her mother Azara Singh. Azara informs Daniel Mishta of Romana's plan and she is apprehended 2 hours into her journey by law enforcement and charged with kidnapping. The charges are later dropped but because of Daniel Mishta's prominence, all claims of his violence and abuse are ignored and Romana is order to remand Sigila Mishta-Singh into her father's custody.

Daniel Mishta is successful in obtaining a restraining order against Romana Singh and takes their daughter to an undisclosed location.

41-42: Romana searches frantically for her daughter. She finds her in the north of France, safe and well in the custody of her father. Sigila, having been indoctrinated by her father for the past 18 months tells her mother not to come looking for her again and that she wants no contact between them.

42: In an attempt to deal with the tragedy in her life, Romana enrolls in Starfleet Academy.

Background Summary

Romana was raised on Earth, between Delhi (India) and Marseilles (France). She speaks both languages fluently and dresses in traditional southern Indian silks. When she was married she donned the tika as a mark of respect for her culture, rather than an affinity for is religious attachments.

Her mother Azara Singh met her father Gordon Echard in Northern France. They remained in a de facto relationship until her father died when Romana was 8. Romana has only a few, treasured memories of her father today.

Romana’s mother married Baskta Ali Bashir when Romana was 12. Baskta was an abusive alcoholic and as such Romana’s teenage years were destructive.

Romana admits that it was probably her experience with her step-father that led her to become involed with a Metacyclone-I addict when she was 19.

Romana and Daniel Mishta got married quickly and lived in Paris for 12 years until Romana became pregnant with her daughter Sigila Mishta-Singh.

It was around this time that Daniel Mishta’s drug problem became exacerbated by anxiety relating to becoming a father and he became a violent and abusive man.

After 10 years of abuse, Romana decides at 41 that enough is enough and takes her daughter Sigila during the night and makes for her mother’s residence in the south of France.

Romana’s mother Azara informs Daniel Mishta of Romana’s plans and he organizes for law enforcement to pick her up about 2 hours into the trip.

Subsequently, legal action ensued and Romana was estranged from her daughter.
