B. Background Summary:
Mark had a fairly standard upbringing in rural East Yorkshire, but while his parents and siblings were content with life
on Earth, Mark had a wanderlust that led him to dream of joining Star Fleet and exploring far-flung corners of the galaxy.

As a child who did well in science subjects, and biology in particular, he found himself naturally drawn towards medicine. He 
followed the path he had mentally set out for himself eventually studying at the Academy and then Star Fleet Medical.

However, his life took a turn he hadn't planned when he met and fell in love with Yrina Haworth during his second year of active 
duty in Star Fleet.

A free spirit, Yrina did not approve of the militaristic nature of Mark's job and encouraged him to resign his commission and move 
to her home, L'h'Rassa colony.

He took over the medical practice of a retiring doctor, spending the next four years dealing with the complaints of the rich and 
pampered who either lived at or were visiting the colony, which is a well-known spa destination.

Unfortunately the marriage was short-lived, Mark found it difficult to adjust to the slow pace of life on the colony and found 
running the practice far duller than life in Star Fleet. Yrina accused him of being depressed, and of blaming her for the turn 
his life had taken.

She left him after rekindling a relationship with an old flame on the colony.

Mark continued for a short while with his medical practice before selling up and re-enlisting in Star Fleet.

C. Personality Summary:
By nature Mark is quite an open and friendly person, but he was hurt by his divorce and is a little more cautious as a result.
He is however keen to throw himself back into Star Fleet and build a new life.

VIII. Current Recreational Interests
======================
Mark enjoys playing music, particularly piano or keys, either solo or as part of a band. He can find his way around several other 
instruments if needs be.

He is a keen skier, including alpine skiing, cross country skiing and the biathlon. Mark also likes the odd game of squash, using 
British rules.

He has formed a close friendship with CSO Terrh tr'Khev and can often be found in his company off duty (as well as during work hours).
