The outer office was abuzz with activity. Most were crowded around
viewscreens watching some official ceremony and even the secretary to the
Vice Admirals office was intent on watching. Loren could feel air of
expectation and celebration before he even left the turbolift doors.

for a few moments and watched, half his attention on the screen but an equal
half on the staff around him. As the Admiral continued he saw some tears
form and be wiped away as well as some smiles. It was like attending a
funeral at which a new birth is announced. As the commissioning ceremony
ended he saw a few shake their heads in wonder and some money pass hands.

Z-minus 1 hour before the Issahi attack would come.<br>
The choices for this mission had to be made carefully,
and thus Koreth and Allard's time had been spent mainly
on that.
Anyone in the two departments who had high levels of
combat and engineering training or experience was
automaticly 'volunteered'. That consisted of 8 people...
which included Dunnon, K'tal, and Majkel from engineering.
<Any NPC security choices?>
Tarrant, true to his nature, also made some adaptations to
the Phaser Rifles which would be issued to all. A modified
tricorder would be securely fastened to the top section of
each rifle - thus allowing full scanning ability without putting
the weapon down. Each tricorder was stripped of all general
starfleet information in case it fell to enemy hands.
There was one further addition the two officers wanted.
An asset combat-wise and science-wise, and a powerhouse
when it came to processing data.
Scene: Science station 1
Lts. Koreth and Allard walked in to find the lab hard at
work on the ytterbium equation... as was the CSO
Lt. Meleah.
"Lieutenant, " said Koreth as he approached the android,
"If at all possible would you be able to join us on the
away 'team' in recovering the stolen Shuttlepod?"
<Answer?>

Scene: Tarrant's Quarters<br>
Tarrant sat on the floor, legs crossed, with the lights dimmed.
Before him lies his Katana, wrapped in a sheath of some
crimson cloth. Each race of which he belonged had different
rituals performed before oncoming battles... the Feynman officer
had adapted elements of both to his own.
"Grant me strength against my enemies, power to endure what
is to come, honor for my deeds, the knowledge to obtain success,
and forgiveness for what I may have to do."

Just trying to set a mood.<br>
Meleah would be VERY helpful on the mission, if she can get away

Loren awoke with an ache he swore was going to split his skull. Shaking
his head to get rid of the grogginess caused rivulets of pain shoot all
across his temples. <nowiki>*Mistake*</nowiki> he thought.
Slowly his vision cleared to reveal the four walls of what appeared to be
a holding cell. The walls themselves were bare as was the floor and
ceiling. Loren unsteadily clambered to his feet and began surveying his new
surroundings. He was halfway through running his fingers over one of the
walls searching for a means of egress when he stopped.
Grabbing his temples he began to concentrate, <nowiki>*What in the devil are all
these clicks and whistles I'm hearing?*</nowiki> The unintelligible clicks began
to dissolve into emotions as Loren concentrated harder... emotions he
could immediately recognize.
<nowiki>*The Federation...technology...an attack...a trap carefully laid...and
the FEYNMAN*</nowiki> The thoughts came rapidly and easily to Loren, so easily
that he put up a mental block because he began to lose himself to the
thoughts.
Loren's head began to pound again and his legs simply gave way. He curled
himself into a ball on the floor and began to meditate to force away the
pain and formulate a plan.

"Um, Lieutenant - It's time." Ens. Dunnon poked his
head into the CEO's quarters, but didn't dare enter.
The security vest he wore was awkward and cutting into
his neck.
Tarrant allowed his eyes to slowly open. Letting his mind,
body, and soul awake from it's almost trance-like state.
He unwrapped the Katana before him, and promptly sheathed
it in an apparatus behind his back. Then went about putting
on the blast vest.
Dunnon watched the scene with amusement. Tarrant was
tough in Engineering, but reasonable. Always busy working
on something - involved. It was as if he now transfered all that
energy into himself. Every movement was a fluid arc, every
step, every motion. Dunnon almost missed the question when
his superior spoke.
"Have you completed the modifications on the rifles?"
"Yes sir, the modified tricorders are attached exactly like the
prototype you gave me. They're in Transporter Room 2, "
replied the Terran.
Tarrant nodded.
The walk to the transporter room was a quiet one. The few crew
who were in the corridors during the yellow alert status stepped
back to give room as the two made their way. For Dunnon, the
silence and stares were almost unbearable and strangely surreal.
They walked in to find they were the last to arrive.
"Glad to see you two finally showed up." said Allard with a bit
of a grin. "Thought I might have had to command this task force
all by myself."
Lt. Koreth grabbed one of the rifles, "And let you play with my new toys
unsupervised? I don't think so 'junior'."
<NRPG: Not sure If Meleah is in.. so I'll leave that open>
The partial klingon only had a few years on Allard, but the tactical
officer's young face made him appear much less aged.
Tarrant liked Allard ever since he had come on board. Sure, the then
ensign was green.. but there was something in his eyes... And as he
looked into that young face now, both forcing relaxed grins, Tarrant
could tell that they both knew the possibilities of what was to come.
"Sirs, " interrupted the transporter chief, "the Issahi attack has begun."
Allard turned to the team, "Ok, everone up. Circle formation, weapons
out. If you perseive something as a threat do not hesitate to protect
yourselves." He knew that the speech wasn't necessary, but gave
it anyway.
One by one they took up position. Koreth and Allard facing exact
opposite each other.
"Try to find a place free from as much activity as you can for the
transport. But, if you can look on to any familiar Federation signatures
in that time.. then send us there." said Tarrant to the transporter
chief.
Time passed. Yet when the word came, it was remembered
as but a fleeting second.
<Bridge to transporter room,> It was Cmdr Maril <Beam down the landing
party, and may Kazanti quench the flames of Azule.>
Shimmering blue light engulfed them, then faded as fast as it came on.
The passageway was barely lit. Honeycomb type patterns seemd to make
up the walls and floor. Two rows, one about 1/2 a meter up and another
about the same distance from the ceiling, emitted a dull yellowish light
from between the lines. The 'floor' seemed grippy, like rubber or as if a
light adhesive had been applied. The corridor itself extended in two
directions. No doors in the conventional sense were visible. Nor
was the enemy.
Tarrant held up his rifle to look at the tricorder attached to it.
"Picking up multiple energy readings all over, and multiple unknown
lifeforms... 400 meters this direction. "
"Are any Federation signatures?" asked Allard, not turning from
his position.
"No. I guess they weren't able to pick up a signature before beam-in."
"There dosen't appear to be any interfaces here." said Dunnon as
he looked at around. He slowly reached out and touched the wall.
"It feels like the floor... WHOA!" he pulled his hand back as if
bitten.
"What is it Ensign?"
"It.. 'changed' . When I pushed on it, I could feel it changing. Kinda
strengthening under the force."
"Make a scan of it Dunnon, but do it quick. " announced Tarrant
in a final type voice, "We have a mission."
"Which way, Koreth" said Allard. HE obviously didn't like the idea
of staying in a hallway all day.
"I'm reading power fluxuations and some light firepower in your direction.
Probably where the Issahi have started the ground attack."
Allard nodded, "Which means that the Shuttle pod would probably be
in a more secure section." It sounded good, but they knew that either
way they were just shooting in the dark. Splitting up would have been
the quickest way, but in this type of combat situation there was
required safety in numbers. "Then we head that way."
The corridor continued, which lead to a few intersections. Each time they
chose the direction closest to the strange power signatures. Again
no doorways seemed evident, but Tarrant saw on the tricorder evidence
that pockets of space existed behind them.
Allard kept track of the bio-readings... which started bothering him
quite a bit. "Hold up here."
"What is it?"
"Something strange is going on. " said the SEC officer who continued to
explain, "Three times now I've picked up bio readings, of at least 6
separate creatures in each group, and each time we've gotten within
50 meters they suddenly veer off... away from our location."
"Avoiding confrontation on your own base during a raid? Some
thing is not right." announced Koreth.

Ok, here we go.
Wanted to allow some play off of the trap part set by
our new officer in his last post so.....
BTW: PLEASE! Don't send Krysa in with a shuttle craft to save us.
All we need is two downed shuttles to search for.
(Sorry, couldn't resist... everyone else gets to have fun)
Respectfully,<br>

Scene: Holding Cell on Reaver's Base<br>
It didn't take long for Loren to achieve the proper mind state to block
the pain he was feeling. Sitting up he remembered that his body was
still damaged but his mind was no longer registering the pain. He
couldn't keep it that way for long, but maybe long enough to escape.
Running his hands once again over the seemingly featureless walls he
could feel them getting stronger in response to his applied force. On
top of that the floor seemed like it was gripping his feet. <nowiki>*This is
useless*</nowiki> he thought angrily as he kicked the wall he faced.
What happened next totally surprised him. His foot went through the wall
along with his leg and then the rest of his body. Jumping to his feet on
the other side Loren glanced around quickly to confirm what his Betazoid
senses had already told him...he was alone. Looking back at the wall he
tried to tentatively put his hand back through the wall but it was just
as hard as ever.
He then envisioned himself fighting someone, beating them, and put his
hand back up to the wall. It passed right through as if the wall were
made of water. Loren drew upon other emotions as he repeated the test.
<nowiki>*Amazing, certain emotions namely anger, allowed one to pass through the
walls or doors or whatever they are here*</nowiki> Loren realized.
With his newfound knowledge Loren made his way towards an open corridor
with the one intention of finding a way out.
After making it a few meters down the corridor, Loren stopped. <nowiki>*Bad guys
ahead*.</nowiki> He eased himself into their thoughts for a brief moment and drew
his mind back abruptly. He couldn't see them around the corner but he
sensed six of them and they were anxious. Once again Loren made out the
ideas of a trap but it wasn't directed at anything or anyone nearby. The
idea seemed to concern something bigger and farther away.
Then it hit him. The FEYNMAN was headed for a trap. The thoughts
came fast and furious. <nowiki>*The base was expendable...first lead the Isaahi
fleet into the asteroid field, destroy them while the FEYNMAN attempts to
leave the area. While the Isaahi are occupied with the base, an ambush
of a large number of our ships will capture the FEYNMAN...They're going
to try to capture the ship. No time for this, I gotta go*</nowiki>
Loren spun around to come face to face with hooded creature about 2
meters tall shuffling even closer to him. <nowiki>*Damn, too preoccupied to
sense this one coming up on me*</nowiki> The thing reached out to grab Loren who
grabbed the thing's left appendage, twisted it to the right, and
using the momentum generated threw the thing to the floor.
Bounding over the fallen creature, Loren ran for all he was worth.

SCENE: Bridge<br>
Maril monitored the battle closely, watching for any strange occurrences.
Nothing so far.
Unfortunately, the Issahi were losing despite their superior numbers. The
Reavers were taking advantage of their better firepower and the Issahi lack of
maneuverability. A good quarter of the Issahi attack fleet had been destroyed, as
opposed to less than an eighth of the Reavers.
But, then, as it looked like the Reavers would force the Issahi back, different
Issahi ships started to enter the battle. These were about the same length and
thickness as the others, but much wider. And when the Reavers fired their
weapons, it took about twelve high-power shots to bring these strange ships'
shields down even 25%.
Suddenly, it hit Maril as suddenly as the lightning hit Regampha. He recalled
the data from Lt. Meleah's experiments with the dilithium sword. The energy
readouts were very similar. So it was dilithium the Issahi were using!
"The attack of the valmbirds at Cidema," he whispered under his breath.
He looked up to see what was happening around the Bridge. Seemingly, all
was quiet. Very few Reavers had attacked since the Feynman had beamed down
the away team. Perhaps they were too focused on the Issahi attack.
"Reaver ship at bearing 212, mark 308," Jerran reported calmly. Maril had
thought too soon.
"Red alert," Maril ordered quickly.
"Hold your fire, Tactical," Zane said slowly. "Let them fire first. Mr. Jerran,
bring us about to face the Reaver ship, but keep us within communications range
of the away team."
"Aye, sir, but two more ships have just appeared at bearings 257, mark 7 and
104, mark 76."
"All three ships are firing weapons, sir," the tactical officer reported with some
worry.
The ship rocked violently, almost throwing Maril out of his chair. "Damage
report," he said sternly as he attempted to regain his bearings.
"Shields down to 37%. Damage to decks 14-16 of the Engineering section."
"Get some repair teams down there," Maril ordered.
"You may open fire, Tactical," the Captain gave the command.
"Aye, sir."
The ship shuddered again. "Report."
"The ship in front of us has been destroyed. Our shields went down for 4
seconds, but they are now back up to 10%. Damage to the starboard nacelle
pylon."
"Continue firing," Zane ordered.
Jenn suddenly spoke up. "Sir, somehow a small probe got close to us when
our shields were down for 4 seconds. It is creating a magnetic field." Then she
held her breath for a second. "Sir, the probe's magnetic field is disrupting our
anti-matter containment field. If our containment field fails-"
"We won't be here to fight the Reavers at all," Zane finished the sentence.
"The Jacolian tunnelers attacking from below," Maril whispered.
Zane shivered for a second, but quickly gained control. "Can we destroy it?"
"Not by conventional means," Jenn answered. "The probe is much too close
to the ship. An explosion would cause a major hull breach."
"Can we get a tractor beam on it?" Maril asked, worried.
"Possibly. The probe is very small. We may grab a lot of empty space
instead of the probe."
"I think that's a chance we have to take," Zane said, seemingly calm.
"Tactical, get a tractor beam lock on it. When you have it, swing the tractor
beam outwards and let go at the end of the arc."
"Aye, sir, I have a lock on it, engaging tractor beam, missed it," the tactical
officer reported. "Got another lock, engaging tractor beam, got it this time.
Swinging the tractor beam to the port, disengaging tractor beam...now! The
probe is continuing on its path outwards."
"Good job, everyone," Zane said with some relief. "Are there any Reaver
ships still attacking us?"
"One, sir. The other one has gone to the main battle."
"Status of shields?" Maril asked.
"They're up to 24%. The Reaver ship is firing again."
"Return fire!" Zane ordered as the ship shook.
