Andy | Jack got up from his desk and stretched unsure what to do with himself. Leaning against the window he watched as the planet he had come to despise slid away as the impulse engines came to life. The door chime went. “Come.” | ||
The doors slid open. “Figured you might want to beat me in person.” Sean said as he entered the cabin. “Things not go well with the admiral. Did he ask about me?” | |||
Jack grinned. “No surprisingly your name didn’t come up. Although I did mention that you gave of yourself to help out Commander Gar.” | |||
“Funny.” Sean replied as he dropped into a chair. “At the risk of asking, why aren’t we waiting for a relief ship?” | |||
“Apparently we are needed for our next mission immediately and the quarantine buoys we’ve deployed are adequate security.” | |||
“Do you buy that?” | |||
Jack turned away and looked out the window as he felt the ship leap to warp. Finally he turned back to face his first officer. “Its such a load of manure I’m insulted I’m expected to buy it. There’s something going on here, it was going on before we arrived and it is going on as we leave. I don’t know why we got stuck in the middle of it and I don’t know if we were even successful. It frakin doesn’t feel successful.” | |||
“Not much we can do about it.” Sean offered. | |||
“I know.” Jack grated. “And I think its that fact that frustrates me more then anything.” | |||
Several minutes passed by in silence before Sean spoke again. “Jack you look like shit.” | |||
“That’s good cause that’s how I feel. I’ve got a headache that would kill a moose.” He stood up from his chair. “Lets go see what the good doctor has in his black bag.” | |||
“Good doctor?” Sean asked innocently. “Did you replace Stile?” | |||
Jack grinned. “I’m telling him you said that.” | |||
