has potential to eventually achieve a department head position but
many captains still judge their Chief Engineer solely by their
understanding of warp technology.

before her through sheer stubbornness if nothing else works. Off-duty
she is outgoing and friendly, calm and helpful. On-duty she is very
serious and professional, trying to be the more-than-perfect officer.
It took me some effort to convince her that she did no have to adapt
the rigid behaviour of a Marine to fullfilll the requirements of
Starfleet. I was partially sucessful, although Cadet Lorress still
reminds me of an iron rod more than anything else whenever she snaps to
attention. This discrepancy between the private person and the officer
tends to confuse others until they get to know Cadet Lorress a bit
better.

I write this letter to recommend and affirm the abilities of Dr. Lyrica
Shae.
In the years she has spent in StarFleet Academy, I would have to say she is
the epitome of what the Officer Training Course was founded for. She is a
consummate scientist, and a well read counselor. I found her views on
certain issues refreshing, if not exasperating. But to her credit, she never
came to an argument unprepared.
But all in all, one of the finest minds I've encountered.
I can say unreservedly, that she will make a fine addition to any crew she
assigned to. Her strength lies in her diplomacy and nurturing quality which
both seem to stem from her telepathic ability. In fact, the only quirk on
her record, is her particular habit of wearing religious iconal
jewelry...normally not an issue with StarFleet Regulations governing the
religious expression of officers and crew... however, Dr. Shae seemed to
wear as  DIFFERENT religious icon every week or so.

In the years she has spent in StarFleet Academy, I would have to say she is
the epitome of what the Officer Training Course was founded for. She is a
consummate scientist, and a well read counselor. I found her views on
certain issues refreshing, if not exasperating. But to her credit, she never
came to an argument unprepared.
But all in all, one of the finest minds I've encountered.
I can say unreservedly, that she will make a fine addition to any crew she
assigned to. Her strength lies in her diplomacy and nurturing quality which
both seem to stem from her telepathic ability. In fact, the only quirk on
her record, is her particular habit of wearing religious iconal
jewelry...normally not an issue with StarFleet Regulations governing the
religious expression of officers and crew... however, Dr. Shae seemed to

Julian Persick was raised by her mother, a Dabo hostess at

trip Rispin Persickmade to Euro/Britain. Although her mother
was a devout member of the Church of England, she had been
easily charmed by the empathic salesman, who is reputed to
have several other children by various women in other parts
of the quadrant.


Samantha made the best of her difficult situation. She

examination in the top 20%, she matriculated at Campion Hall,

While still in school, she began to feel a need to use her

way. Studying medieval history, the intricate diplomatic
tangles and subtleties caught her imagination. She began to
see the frontier of space, and the newly-contacted potential

from her father's abandonment of her and her mother. This
manifests in paradoxical ways. On one hand, she usually
dresses in the least flattering styles possible, and
abhors flirtation of all kinds – a 'protective coloring'
to shield her from possible seductors. On the other, when
she does dress up - usually to go to a gaming hall – she is
known for treating men as "marks"...taking revenge on her
father by taking her opponents' money. In this mode, she
has no compunctions about using all the wiles she has
learned growing up in a gaming hall, with a Dabo girl for
a mother.
 
Due to her abandonment, Persick's deep insecurity will
never allow her to feel "good enough". She has managed to
turn this to her advantage in school, becoming an excellent
student who has had no disciplinary problems whatsoever.
Her constant (unmet) need to prove that her father was
wrong to leave her results in a perfectionism that creates
a great deal of psychological pressure.
 
Persick will do well to find outlets for her energy other
than the gaming halls, where she puts herself in physical
jeopardy – perhaps with unconscious intent. She also needs
to look for ways of accepting that neither she, nor her
mother, was the cause of her father's inconstancy.
Although I have no doubt that she will be successful,
unless she can manage this second task, she will never be
happy.
 
That having been said, I see no reason why Persick should
not be graduated and given the rank of Ensign. Her
adaptation to her difficult background shows remarkable
strength and creativity. Her choice of Academy studies
shows a healthy desire to use her empathic gifts (gotten
from her problematic father) in constructive ways. Her
perfectionism will work for whatever ship is lucky enough
to get her, and may eventually give her Command potential. "

Lieutenant Persick's removal, mid-mission and under protest,
has left a tangible gap in our crew and seriously flattened
the morale of the diplomatic away team on Betazed. Her
negotiating skills, martial abilities, and resourcefulness
have been important assets to the ENDEAVOUR, contributing
significantly to the successful outcome of the missions for

It is hard to imagine how anyone could bear the news that
their fiancé was their half-brother without the need for
extended counseling. Ms. Persick’s suicide attempt was not
unexpected, given that her disappointment was compounded by
residual anger toward her father, who was also CAPT
Ridgeway’s. Ms. Persick has made steady, if slow, progress
toward renewed emotional stability. Her transition from
patient to Counselor has been marked by new depth of
compassion, perhaps facilitated by her extended therapeutic
leave on Aletheia. I’ll admit I’m surprised by Julian’s
desire to accept a space posting, but I believe she’s ready
to make a new start.

Planet information:
Deria is an odd world of mists and some say, magic. Women hold the power
 
on the planet. Almost all important posts are filled by women, although

Betazoid-style mental skills, but the men rarely do. However, once in
awhile, men do have these skills. Serl does. This is attributed to his
being a triplet.
 
The males of the planet concentrate on being warriors. If not at war,
they fight in challenge contests in which killing is quite common. They
are usually strong and physically fit. When too old or too injured to
fight, they train more warriors.
 
They have recently joined the Federation.
 
Personal history:
Serl is the son of a Derian mother and a Terran father. His father was a
mining engineer on Deria's moon when he met his future wife.

Cadet Montoya has the most startling eyes I've ever seen. When you can
get him to respond in class, he always knows his answers. He is studious

Confederate leaders.  As such, the Embassay was reformed, in a hope to
