Star Fleet Engineering
Bureau of Ships

Introduction

This file contains information relevant to the Alt.StarFleet.RPG game universe and is intended to provide information for the players of that game. This is in no way an attempt to create a comprehensive list of ships from any of the TV series or movies.

Naming and Registry Policy: Basic overview of SFE policy regarding the creation or change of unit names / registries.

A note of caution: Ships of classes no longer in service are listed as with their original ship type designator. However, this does not mean that they are necessarily comparable with current ships of the type or even current ships of lesser class. One prime examples are USS Paladin, a Federation-class dreadnought (Battleship), which is, by the standards of 2408, an antique of similar displacement to a modern frigate. Another example is the Hermes-class destroyer, USS Carson, which is less than half the displacement of a modern corvette. Other classes, like the Wellington-class light cruisers, have only been retired for a few years and are generally comparable to modern vessels of similar class, but were retired in favor of commissioning newer vessels rather than refitting the older designs. Many Wellington-class cruisers still see limited service as local patrol ships, though none are currently in service as RPing ships.
