RT0510- CINCSF Report
From StarFleet Bureau of Information
Assembled delegates, Welcome again to the RT. The October RT does not need to have elections, so we have a chance to concentrate on the other reasons for the RT process; to look at the general running of the club. There are many items I personally would like to cover, but I am not ASR, and only one of her many Captains. I would like to offer a list of possible discussion points and then if others are interested, they could formally start the discussion in a particular direction. First of all though, reports. Once those are complete, then we can discuss. My report will raise the main areas I think need to be covered. In general, the player side of the fence is working reasonably well. I will let the CSFO report cover that in more detail. The exceptions to this are posting rates of some vessels, mainly due to vacancies. The new Fleet Sapphire has integrated in well with the rest of ASR, as we knew it would. She is a benefit to the club. On the admin side, there is more cause for concern. At the moment is the number of vacancies in administration rolls. They are: - DIRECTOR OF INTELLIGENCE, STARFLEET INTELLIGENCE - COMMANDER, JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL CORPS - DEPUTY COMMANDER, JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL CORPS - CHIEF OF STAFF, STARFLEET MARINE CORPS - ADJUTANT, STARFLEET MARINE CORPS - STARFLEET SCIENCES EXECUTIVE OFFICER - DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF COLONIAL AFFAIRS As you can see, two areas, JAG and Marines have no head and no XO. Calls have been sent out on numerous occasions, but no luck. http://alt-starfleet-rpg.org/admin.htm gives a full rundown of the branches and vacancies. One thing the list does not show is the lack of activity in some of the other branch areas. Some of these areas are virtually vacant as the very busy people in those positions have run out of time to do anything more but the basics. Do we want to see more, or as a group, are we happy with what we've got? There is a lot of information on the website, are the general members of ASR aware of it? The possibility has been raised that booklets designed to give a quick run down for each area be made available. The command booklet should have been sent out to all of you already, but it is available in the files section of this Yahoo group to download. http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/asr-rt-1005/files/. I would also like to gain an idea of what the rest of you think. I have created a poll of possible areas of concern. Please visit the list http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/asr-rt-1005/surveys?id=1798197 and let me know what is actually a concern to you. If you do not see your concerns on the list, let me know and I will add them on. If you are worried, others are likely to be as well. The areas I have listed at in no particular order, just as I thought of them. Other areas I would like to get sounding on are: - Keeping units humming; - Reports: too many or not enough The first line for discussion is obviously the current state of recruitment efforts for new players. Possible alternatives to the established procedures and some extra ideas could be offered as the delegate for Sapphire Fleet brought that one up separately. Once all the reports are in, I will open the discussion period and everyone can dive right in. Remember though, this is for the club, egos are left at the door. We are brainstorming, everything has merit as an idea. Respectfully, Karen Fainges CINCSF Chair, October 2005 ASR Round Table
