RT0204- P0402-1a
From StarFleet Bureau of Information
Assembled delegates, As directed by the Chair, this is the modification to proposal 0402-1 as submitted by the originating delegate from DS13. Very Respectfully, Chris Mayberry RT Secretary ************** Unit-by-unit Fleets Reports --------------------------- Years ago, in the times when ASR units had a gamemaster, there was a resource, called weekly-reports, that gamemasters or XOs had to send in to their respective CINCs. These reports of the happenings of the unit were then sent to the units. This way, everybody could know what was going on in other units of their same Fleet and even in other Fleets. I think this was a valuable resource. It allowed everybody to know what was going on around them without the time-burden of reading all the posts in the newsgroups. It also allowed people to find interesting threads to follow if they found the time and interest. They were also a vehicle for uniting story arcs and creating shared backgrounds from which new plots could be drawn. It was also a valuable tool for getting new players, as they could read on the newsgroup what was going on in the different Fleets and get an idea of the kind of wonderful gaming experience we have in ASR. And once a new player had passed through ALB training, he could have an easy method to look for the units he or she may be interested in playing and thus issuing better preferences to the COMALB and CSFO in SB ALPHA. This proposal calls for the RT to issue a recommendation to Fleet Commanders and units COs to resume this practice on a regular basis and commit to make a recopilation of unit reports available to all players through public posting or publication on a web site. The RT should probably recommend a frequency for such unit and Fleet reports to be posted. A quartely posting rate is recommended, as it will give time enough for enough things to happen in all units and not to be a burden to anyone involved. This proposal also extends an invitation to the Flag Council to keep regularly posting news related to the Fleets or any of its branches and made them available through the ASR web site to all the players.
