Kate Murray, born in a large city of Seattle, WA, grew up in a middle class family. Her father was a firefighter and her mother was a librarian.

Her brother Henry Murray, the eldest, was the first to join Starfleet. It caused a ripple effect in the family and had such an impact on his sibling who followed in his footsteps. Kate, the second born child  was a tomboy and dreamed one day become a Captain.

During her academic years in Star Fleet Academy she took up jogging and found she loved it. She excelled  in school and learned everything she could get her hands on. She was considered eccentric by her classmates but the didn't stop Kate from dressing her own way and living her life the way she preferred.  

While in StarFleet  Academy she meet and roomed with Carrie Davison.  It was thru Carrie that Kate met her future husband Luke Randell. As soon as she graduated from Starfleet Luke proposed but Kate refuse to settle down and get married. She felt her career was just starting and she was not about to get strapped down with a husband. She knew what she wanted and she would not let anyone stand in her dream...to one day become a Captain.

Luke Randell decided he would wait for her. He felt one day she would give in. After she had been assigned to the USS AMBERJACK she and Luke Randell took shore leave together. They partied and loved hard. A week later, after a night of heavy drinking, Kate found she had become Mrs. Luke Randell...much to her dismay.

Kate wanted it annulled but Luke convinced her to wait and see how she felt about it in a month or two. She agreed. A month later she was still married and had been reassigned to USS MACRONIN.
