Anna was just starting what was supposed to be a relaxing shore leave when
she was approached by two Bajorans.
"Excuse Me, Ms. Lee, I'm Ryna Itre and this is my assistant Muji John,
we're from the Bajoran Freedom News and I was wondering if we could ask you
a few questions."
Anna recognized the name right away, The Bajoran Freedom News, a news
program available in Bajor, known for its attacks on everything except the
Bajoran people and Bajor itself. The program was especially known for its
negative views on the Federation and Starfleet.
"Were you not able to attend the press conference?" asked Anna.
"Oh, we were, but we are more interested in you and your role in
Starfleet." replied the Ryna.
"It's just that we've done research and we thought a story about you would
be more interesting." said the assistant. "I mean considering the fact that
as a Bajoran Cadet in Starfleet, you were once convicted of aiding the
Maquis. We have concluded that your were not actually guilty but that the
human-run so called Federation assumed you were guilty because of the fact
you are a Bajoran."
"That is NOT true" stated Anna in a louder voice then she normally used.
"Are you saying you were guilty?" asked Ryna.
"No. I was and still am innocent. The fact I was convicted had nothing to
do with race. At the trial, several on the jury as well as the judge
happened to be Bajoran. The Federation and Starfleet are not human-run. As a
non-human Starfleet officer once said "The United Federation of Planets is
based on a simple but important idea: Diversity, indeed diversity makes up
the very fabric of the Federation, which is essentially an amalgamation of
different worlds, races, and cultures." This officer went on to say that
the federation worlds are bound together by " awareness, respect and trust".
I would add that this diversity also makes up Starfleet and is a great
benefit to Starfleet as Starfleet officers also have awareness, respect and
trust of one other." stated Anna.
"Then in your opinion, why were you convicted?" inquired the assistant.
"It was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Answered Anna and adding silently to herself, sort of like right now. "I
have no further comments." Anna quickly walked off and jumped into the
nearest turbolift trying to get as far away from those reporters as possible.
Scene: USS FEYNMAN: Lee Anna's quaters
Anna had gotten tired of avoiding those two reporters and saying "no
comment" so she returned to her quatres and began the book she had bought
during her short time on Epsilon, "Trinity" by Leon Uris.
To take a break from her reading, Anna decided to catch some of the news.
"Computer are there any local Federation News broadcast programs on?"
[[Negative]]
"All right, then computer have a recording of the latest local Federation
news program sent to the terminal in my quatres"
Anna watched the recording, one of the top stories was the Feynman's last
mission. After the story on the mission itself, the news reporter went on
to mention that a Bajoran News Station had done a story on a related issue.
What followed was the showing of the complete "interview" Anna had with the
two Bajoran Freedom News reporters plus a commentary but the reporter Ryna
Itre. Ryna's commentary was basically that Lee Anna was just saying what
she had been told by the Federation. Then the news went back to the
Federation reporter who did another commentary stating that this particular
Bajoran News program was an extremist group and did not reflect the opinions
of all of Bajor which was followed by interviews with randomly selected
Bajorans.
By the time the news finally went onto another story, Anna was becoming
quite angry at the "Bajoran Free News" (especially Ryna Itre) and the fact
that a Federation News Station would actually have covered it. Must have
been a slow news day! Lee Anna decided to calm down by going to a holodeck
to relax, taking her skates with her.
Scene: USS FEYNMAN: Holodeck
Anna went into one of the empty holodecks and ran one of her favourite
programs,
Skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa Ontario, Canada.
NRPG:
Finally! A post from me!! Hope I didn't bore anyone too much.
I didn't want to have Anna enter into anyone's holodeck program since I'm
still catching up on where everyone is. If anyone wants to join Anna
skating, that would be great.
If shore leave has ended and I'm just not that caught up yet then consider
this a backpost.
From:
Donna, who finally has a post out :)
