B. Background Summary:
----------------------
When Dabo girl Jaden Nala met a dashing young Human Starfleet
officer enjoying some well-deserved R&R, little did she realise
how her life was about to change. The Starfleet officer is still
unaware of the result of their one-night-stand; Nala had no way
of contacting him, and so she raised her son by herself.
Life aboard a space station gave young Tor a great deal
of enthusiasm for the stars and starships, but his application
to Starfleet Academy was turned down when he couldn't find a
sponsor; the station's commanding officer decided not to help
in view of a number of minor legal scrapes the Bajoran national
had managed to get mixed up in. So Nala sent her son back to her
home planet to study for a career in the Bajoran merchant fleet.
It turned out to be a good decision: within seven years, he had
gone from apprentice navigator to captain of a small transport
ship, the ORB OF CHANCE. A year later he bought the ship from
its previous owner, who considered it obsolete anyway, and began
a career as an independent trader.
Which happened to be a polite way of saying 'smuggler'.
As it turned out, Jaden Tor was a very gifted smuggler,
managing to rack up a huge number of successful runs under the
ever-vigilant noses of Starfleet and Federation Customs. He
gained numerous contacts, legitimate and otherwise, throughout
Federation space and among the neighbouring regions.
Eventually, Federation Customs decided something had to
be done. A six-year investigation finally gathered sufficient
evidence to narrow the field to ten possible smuggling ships.
Customs officers boarded and searched all ten vessels, one of
which happened to be carrying contraband. That vessel was the
ORB OF CHANCE . . .
Facing some serious prison-time, Tor reluctantly agreed
when a representative for Star Fleet Intelligence asked to speak
with him. The conversation which followed was classified, but
the end result was that Jaden Tor found himself drafted into
Starfleet as a junior NCO and assigned to a small unit he'd
never heard of before, TASK FORCE something-or-other . . .
Since then he has been shot at, shipwrecked, beaten,
threatened, sworn at . . . and he's loving it.
 
 
C. Personality Summary:
-----------------------
To survive as a smuggler, a man has to be mentally tough and
self-disciplined, able to play a role with conviction. He also
needs to be physically tough, because he'll be dealing with the
wrong sort of people every day of his life. Jaden Tor has these
qualities in spades, combined with a rugged sense of humour
which helps him cope with the uncertainties of life on the far
side of the law.
 
For a man following a criminal career, he has surprisingly
strong morals--of a sort. He never takes 'dirty' jobs, which
is fluidly defined as 'any job which involves helping dirtbags
to hurt innocent folk', and sticks to the bargains he makes,
expecting others to do the same. He's no saint though, and if a
job requires stretching the truth or a little 'rough work', then
so be it. And all bets are off when it comes to making sure
dirtbags get what they deserve.

Personal History:


About eight years ago, for no clear external reason, the senior chief

seems to have finally cleaned up his act.  At about that time, he seems
to have developed a friendship with a green security officer aboard USS
PROMETHEUS.  That officer, CDR Jack Danger, is presently XO of USS NOVA.


Burreson is one the the first generation of Federation citizens to have

III. Biographical Notes
Lieutenant Landor-Pensin is a superb officer. His ingenious tactical solution during the Dominion attack on
Talus IV saved this ship against overwhelming odds and while my Executive Officer and I were on the surface in a
mission. Although sometimes volatile of character, in general he's an inspired tactician and a loyal and honorable
officer. If I were to choose anyone to fight at my side, I'd choose Lieutenant Landor.

At the rank of Lieutenant, Kirk, equipped with an experimental

and fought her ship to the point of crippling one of the Romulan
cruisers while managing to destroy the prototype cloaking device
before the Kirk was boarded by the Romulans.
She was held captive by the Romulans for nearly six years, though
the details were entirely classified as neither the Federation nor
the Romulans admit to holding any prisoners. During the three years
following her return (the other seven all took their lives within a
year of repatriation), Grace was thoroughly debriefed, interrogated
by OSFI, and eventually cleared to return to service, though she
remained at Starfleet academy as an instructor for three years while
OSFI closely monitored her behavior.
Finally she was cleared to return to space duty and promoted to full
Commander.
Grace has no recollection of what occurred at the Romulan prison
except that she was permitted to keep her violin and had access to a
gymnasium.

VII. Psychological Profile
Star Fleet's got an outstanding officer in Lieutenant Commander Landor. Only problem is that he loses his temper.
The Counselor and myself have tried working with his temper, but to no success. A good officer all around, but he
must learn to control his temper.  


Commander Kim is a very difficult nut to crack. We have employed
Capt. Adar Tallon, USS IOWA
nine telepaths of four different species to try and get an inside
look at her thoughts, but her thoughts remain a mystery to us.
Commander Kim claims that she is Esper Blind, as are all members of
her family, a claim verified by both of her parents, and thus
completely immune to psionic treatments.
Despite our inability to get inside Commander Kim's mind, she is
very well-adjusted and does not appear to have been mistreated
during her Romulan incarceration. I have no reason to doubt her when
she says that she and her shipmates were treated well and not abused
in any way.

A good and loyal officer. Good tactician. Always able to come up with creative solutions to problems. However still
needs to work with his temper. The incident in which he stole the LEVIATHAN while on drydock was another example of
needing to stop and think before acting. Although he was able to rescue the hostages, the LEVIATHAN was destroyed.
His inability to detach himself from the situation was costly, especially with the loss of a battlecruiser.

Romulus is very different than what actually happened. The fact is,
Grace Kim's Esper Blindness was overcome, and she was programmed by
her Romulan captors. When she describes being treated well she is
not lying, as her memories of the period were fabricated by a
Romulan psionicist and emplanted in her mind. She has no
recollection of the grueling physical training program that the
Romulans subjected her to, creating in effect the perfect assassin.
Grace Kim has no idea that she is able to shoot a flying sparrow at
1,000 meters with a hand phaser, nor has she any clue that she was
trained to kill even a martial arts master with her bare hands in
mere seconds.


Until her programming is triggered by the correct stimulus, she is a

mild-mannered though competent and confident woman who takes her
duties as a Starfleet officer very seriously. Once activated,
however, best stay out of the way, she has a level of physical
ability and mental resistance that make her formidable indeed.
More recently, she has become aware that something was done on
account of her being activated by a Romulan plan on board the
Daedalus. While activated, she killed a Federation senator, a
retired intelligence operative and almost killed Commodore Madison
Fitzgerald. She was tried and found innocent of those crimes, though
now the difficulty is finding a way to deprogram her or at least
make sure that the Romulans cannot access her.


One consequence of her recent activation was an awareness by OSFI of
