The Star Fleet Intelligence Agency is the predecessor of today's Office of Star Fleet Intelligence. It was characterized by efficient service and intelligence gathering, but was plagued by accusations of use of illegal methods for the same. The mounting evidence of black and grey operations outside those acceptable to Federation law ultimately led to a reorganization of Star Fleet Intelligence and a purge of the office in 2407. This purge led to the removal and prosecution of a number of personnel for participation in activities associated with Section 31
