Persons selected for the grade of the Special Agent (SA) is considered the entry-level position of the supervisory grades for Field Operations within the SFSECIS, and as such is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and leading an investigative partnership under the guidance of the assigned Bureau Chief. SSAs have significant combination of accomplishments, education and experience within the Service, typically a minimum of 4-6+ years.<br>

This section details the functions of the AG-4, while those of the SP-4 are entirely focused on the nature of the technical field of the individual.</b><br>
<b>*SFSECIS recognizes the use of force is a critical aspect of law enforcement, and as such, SAs will be required to exercise sound judgment and discretion when determining the appropriate level of force in the apprehension of suspects. The Service follows strict guidelines for the minimal use of force, prioritizing de-escalation techniques and non-lethal alternatives whenever possible.
