B. Background Summary

Jack Steele had an unremarkable childhood.  Raised in the Canadian North 
he was an avid and gifted hunter and outdoorsman by the age of 12.  The 
Steele family had a long and proud tradition of police/security work 
dating back to the Legendary Samual Steele who was an integral part of 
the formation of the North West Mounted Police in the mid 1870s.  Rick 
caused quite a stir when he opted not to join the Mounties and instead 
listed in Starfleet Academy.

His first two years at the Acadmey Rick enjoyed exemplary.  While always 
a good student he had excelled in his studies at the detriment of his 
social and non-acadmeic life.  While he a good rapport with his fellow 
students and squadmates he picked up the nickname ‘worm’ as when he 
wasn’t in class or training he generally had a book in his hand.  This 
was noted on several occasions by his acamedmic advisor and finally by 
the end of his second year he was ‘ordered’ to involve himself in 
extracurrilar activities.  At the beginning of the third year he 
managed to make onto the 2nd squad of the Academy Soccer Team and also 
became active in the Wargaming Society.

Jack’s early Starfleet years where unremarkable until he distinguished 
himself on SD: 2249.331 while a member of a Landing Party on Artel III.  
The party was ambushed by the primitive Artellians during their survey 
mission.  The officer in command was killed and several of the team were 
captured.  Steele kept a cool head and was able to free the Landing 
Party and escape the planet all without harming any of the natives.  
This seemed to be a turning point in Steele’s career and he began to 
receive more important assignments.

As Steele moved up in rank and responsibility his command style has 
continued to grow.  While a stickler for the rules and regulations 
in his earlier years he has developed into a seasoned and well rounded 
commander.  He still hates to delegate and like to ‘keep his hands 
dirty’ but he has learned to trust his subordinates and takes great 
pride in their accomplishments.

CDR Jack Steele has been a well rounded and stable individual.  However 
he harbours some internal guilt over the actions that led to his current 
assignement.  Intellectually he is aware of the guilt and has taken steps 
to ensure it does not affect his command.  It remains to be seen whether 
he will be able to come to terms with this survivor’s guilt on an 
emotional level.  Given the history of his strong mental health I do not 
forsee this being a long term issue.

Sean is an emminently capable science officer and commander.  He 
possesses an almost single-minded dedication to his work.  His fellows 
describe him as stern, but approachable; quick tempered, but loyal.  

For all his effectiveness as an officer, Sean is haunted by the death of 
his ex-wife, Jeri Wilson.  

Sean met Jeri at Starbase 10 in Jiu Jitsu class (she taught him 
everything he knows about the martial arts).  They married after just 
six months of wrestling on the mat.  Their careers exacerbated an 
already rocky relationship.  As an aerospace architect, Jeri frequently 
worked at remote construction sites.  Sean, of course, was often deployed.  
They quickly grew apart and finally divorced after several bittersweet 
years.  

Jeri headed back for Earth to make a fresh start with a new building 
project.  On her return voyage, she accepted a friend's invitation to 
visit a retreat on Vulcan.  She felt that, after her tumultuous divorce, 
she would benefit from that world's calm serenity.  

The week of her arrival, the renegade Nero destroyed Vulcan.  Jeri was 35 
when she died and Sean has never forgiven himself for driving her away to 
her death.  

Afterward, Sean turned his self-loathing and disappointment with God 
into an obsessive devotion to his career.  On his better days, he uses 
his time off to scan and contribute to the Starfleet Exosciences White 
Pages.  On his worse days, he drowns his sorrows in virtual reality 
pornography and alcohol.  

Sean has always had an eye for women and they generally see him as 
attractive.  But even 2 years after losing Jeri, he has not had much 
interest in dating.  Furthermore, his sense of humor carries a new, 
decidedly cynical edge.  

Sean's ground combat experience extends to skirmishes on Arrancar VI 
and Monil IV.  He saw space combat against Klingons as a Helmsman aboard 
the FARSTAR.

B. Background Summary

Son of the famous actor Paul Ventura, Chance grew up with a privileged 
lifestyle, even going so far as to follow in his father's footsteps, 
making a couple of action-oriented projects, but his heart just wasn't 
in it.  All he could really find any peace in was SPEED.  

He got into motorcycles and car clubs and learned the ins and out of most 
earthbound passenger vehicles.  After a couple of brushes with the law, 
tarnishing his squeaky clean teen heartthrob image with a couple of 
'errors in judgement', his father enrolled him in Starfleet Academy in 
the hopes that a military lifestyle could curb some of his headstrong 
ways ... as well as keep him from stealing any more cars.

His first year in the Academy was, putting it mildly, ugly.  Not only did 
he barely pass most of his classes, but he almost got himself expelled 
several times for sneaking off campus during restricted hours to 
participate in some illegal street racing.

The start of his second year wrought an interesting change, though.  He 
started it off pretty much the same as his first year, but became 
captivated by a mechanical engineering class he had signed up for with 
just the barest hint of interest.  

The instructor, Alastair Secundus, recognized the passion Chance had for 
vehicles and attempted to take him under his wing, channelling his 
interests into something that Starfleet could utilize.  It was there that 
he discovered that he LOVED to fly and was good at it.  In fact, flying 
became the greatest love of his life, and he began to distinguish himself 
amongst his peers and instructors as a great natural flyer.  He dedicated 
the rest of his Academy time to becoming a pilot and pursued that aim 
slavishly.  

Perhaps a little too slavishly.

Of course, Nova Squadron fell straight into Chance's crosshairs and at 
the beginning of his third year, he applied for membership.  With his 
natural flying talent and passion, it was assumed that he was a shoe-in.  
The Academy gasped collectively when they announced the membership of 
Nova Squadron that year, and the name Chance Ventura was not on the list.  

Barely containing his anger and disappointment, he confronted his 
instructors to find out why he had been denied membership.  To his shock, 
all his instructors had approved his candidacy, except one - Alastair 
Secundus, his mentor and the man who had taught him the joys of flying.

Enraged, Chance struck his mentor and stormed off, but Secundus later 
found him and explained that despite his natural talent and ability for 
flying, it was not enough that he concentrate on JUST that.  He had to 
learn everything else he was being taught, not just piloting.  

After a few discussions and arguments, Chance eventually understood his 
mentor's point of view and agreed to work on the rest of his curriculum 
as hard as he had worked on becoming a pilot.  While the reprimand for 
striking a professor had to stay on the record, it was mitigated by the 
fact that the professor (Secundus) admitted to goading Chance into such 
an action, for a specific reason.  By the middle of the year, he had 
brought the rest of his grades up to the standard he had set for himself 
as a pilot.

Karmically, he was indeed rewarded near the end of the year when one of 
Nova Squadron's pilots was called home from the Academy due to a death in 
the family.  Chance was the unanimously agreed-upon replacement, and so 
despite a rocky third year, ended that year having brought up all his 
grades and he was now the newest member of Nova Squadron.

Chance's final year in the Academy was stellar, a complete turnaround 
from how he came in.  Automatically accepted as a member of Nova Squadron 
for his first 'official' year, he distinguished himself in the field of 
mechanical engineering.  His final project was designing a one-man flier 
that was so advanced that the Academy is considering adapting it to 
retrofit the Nova Squadron fliers.  

While he decided to hit the command track a little late, he has currently 
applied to the USS Hood as Helmsman and plans to continue his studies for 
the eventual command track.

Cadet Chance Ventura is still brash and reckless, but no longer arrogant, 
as I once reported during his entry exam into the Academy.  During his time 
here, I have seen him many times and he has matured from what some would 
describe as a 'spoiled brat' to a highly motivated, focused and talented 
individual.  He is quick to rise to a challenge, but easily goaded into doing 
something foolish, if pushed.  

He posses amazing intuitive ability, that when coupled with his famous 
relexes, make it appear almost like precognition, but I have no evidence to 
prove that he possesses any such mental ability.

Stile Corbett is a Texan, plain and simple, he proudly as well as 
repeatedly will let anyone and everyone know that his family is very old 
Texan with at least one relative who died defending the Alamo.

Athletic and Muscular, Corbett’s striking feature is his neon green 
eyes, which were an in-utero side effect of a medication his mother took 
while pregnant. Corbett’s eyes actually seem to glow in the dark. This 
anatomical anomaly allows him to see in low light situations.

Extremely confident sometimes bordering on cocky. He has a very 
decisive, analytical, and disciplined mind. However, he rounds out his 
personality as a lothario and a mischievous practical joker.

Corbett was introduced to shooting and the outdoor life at an early age, 
by his Father an avid outdoorsman and Texas Ranger. While Corbett was a 
marksman and excellent hunter, he proffered the intellectual and social 
pursuits introduced him by his mother.  

Corbett’s years at the Starfleet Medical Academy were rocky to say the 
least. Although he graduated with honors; his file is filled with 
multiple disciplinary actions due to diagnostic arguments with senior 
medical staff and several practical jokes that went awry. 

During his 4th year of medical school while on a training rotation, his 
ship came under fire by a Klingon BOP and was boarded. The sickbay was 
destroyed leaving Corbett as the only medical personnel aboard. While 
the cadet and instructor crew managed to repel the boarders and save the 
ship, a cadet was severely injured by a Daqtagh. With 23rd century 
medical equipment unavailable Corbett used a small paring knife and 
equipment from the galley to perform a chest cut-down and intercardiac 
massage to save the cadets life. This earned Corbett the nickname Cuttey.

Corbett has many moral character flaws, but is a true son of Texas; he 
loves tequila, Cuban cigars, shooting vintage pistols, and playing 
poker.  His beloved cowboy hat is never off his head, and he also 
carries a 375 year old colt cobra pistol in an ankle holster in his left 
boot.

Dr. Corbett is in excellent physical condition.  He has been counseled 
that he needs to decrease or preferably eliminate his use of tobacco and 
alcohol if he wishes to remain in peak condition. I have further noted 
that Dr. Corbett’s unique eye coloration which allows him visual acuity 
in low light has deteriorated slightly in bright light conditions; this 
represents a 4% change from his last physical exam. This deterioration is 
within Starfleet parameters and is attributed to ageing. I have discussed 
with him the need to use protective eyewear when in bright sunlight. I 
find no other physical limitations, diseases or conditions.  Dr. Corbett 
is cleared for active duty.

VII. Psychological Profile
==========================

Dr. Corbett presents himself as a well rounded and stable individual.  
However he harbors an almost narcissistic attitude about his abilities 
with females of any species. This was evident in his attempts to entice 
me to a sexual liaison during his psychological profile exam. Dr. Corbett 
is vain, egotistical, and completely consumed with his own abilities. 
Intellectually he is well suited for medical duty aboard a starship as 
evidenced by his academic and post graduate training. 

Given Dr. Corbett’s strong history of defiance to authority I questioned 
his ability to operate in the highly structured and hierarchal environment 
of a military unit such as a starship. Dr. Corbett remarked that he has 
strong respect for command personnel just not always the incompetence of 
other physicians that have been placed in charge of him.  While this seems 
to exemplify Dr. Corbett’s egoism and disregard for authority I believe it 
has been situational.  After reviewing his personnel file I find no 
reprimands or disciplinary action by any command staff with regard to ship 
operation or crew safety.  

One caveat for follow up is Dr. Corbett’s irrational fear of matter 
transmission.  While this might preclude him from Starship duty I find he 
has instituted adequate coping mechanisms to temporarily overcome this 
fear. While this has been noted in his past psychological exams I find no 
incidents in his personnel record that would suggest the contrary. This 
phobia should be readdressed at all subsequent psychological exams.

Given Dr. Corbett’s history of strong mental health and coping skills I do 
not forsee any psychological barriers to his posting as Chief Medical 
Officer.

B. Background Summary
---------------------

ARr’Rhiana Hemux is an average Denobulan female who joined Starfleet more 
then twenty years ago.  Since Denobulans have a long lifespan (even  
longer then Vulcans) she is still a relative young female by the standards 
of her people.  Her actual age is 95 Terran years, which is comparable to 
a 30 year old human female origin. 

ARr’Rhiana was born into a family group of over 600 relatives.  More than 
60 are in committed sexual relationships with each other.  For Denobulans, 
this is considered normal. 

ARr’Rhiana was a happy, normal and intelligent child who spent much of her 
childhood playing and hanging around the family.  She attended the 
usual schools and joined the Denobulan Academy around her 24th year.  For 
Denobulans, this is relatively young.

In total, she earned five Academic degrees in broad fields of knowledge, 
including culture, history, languages, biology, chemistry and engineering.  
Most of her interests in foreign cultures as well as Starfleet science and 
engineering came from a rather awkward incident.  Most details are known 
only by herself and few others, but it essentially came down to an unhappy 
marriage. 

ARr’Rhiana was married out to three members of other Denobulan families 
and, over time, gave birth to five children.  All are now adults and still 
living on Denobulan.  After two of her husbands died in a rage during a 
mating season, she broke up with her third husband to live free.  This 
caused her to be regarded by her family as an outcast.

She has since had little contact with her family.  Only her youngest 
daughter supported her strongly in her decision.  ARr’Rhiana still keeps 
in close contact with her daughter.  It is one of the few good bonds that
she maintains with her homeworld.

Because of this incident she gained more interest in other civilizations 
and worlds.  In periods between her studies, she worked for the 
Denobulan Embassy and in that way came into contact with Star Fleet.  

While working for Star Fleet, some of the technicians and engineers took 
note of her talents for language.  They put her to work translating 
Denobulan manuscripts and manuals.  Before long, they convinced her to 
join the Star Fleet Denobulan Division to work as scientist and engineer.  
Her superiors found her a hard worker and her wide field of knowledge 
remarkable.  They convinced her to join Star Fleet Academy on Earth for 
further study and eventual service in the Fleet.

On Earth, Hemux had a rather hard time adapting to the ‘lone and 
individual’ culture of Earth and humans.  She was not used to life in 
small groups, work in small classes or living with only one or two 
roommates.  This caused some cultural and social problems, but in time 
she was able to adapt.  

Incidents with her pheromones, sexual habits and social misunderstandings 
were, in beginning, frequent.  Once she became accustomed to the social 
rules and habits, Arr’Rhiana was able to complete her studies in the 
Academy and eventually go into active duty on a Starship.

Her first assignment on the USS WARRANT was satisfactory to both herself 
and her superiors and after a few years she ended up as Chief Science 
Officer on board of the USS WARRANT.  During this service she was promoted 
to Lieutenant <Jg>.

She later transferred to the USS TRIFFID as Engineering officer and spent
about ten years on board that ship without much incident or unusual 
events.  She performed at good standards and was a praised asset to the 
crew.  Her ability to function and adapt to the crowded place of a 
starship made her a friend and listening ear for many of the crew.

In 2158 the USS TRIFFID was sent out to the boundaries with the Orions to 
negotiate a peace treaty between Orion factions and a newly contacted 
civilization that was threatened to be overwhelmed by the Orions for use 
as slaves in the Orion slavecamps.  

In a major conflict with Orion Raiders and pirates, the TRIFFID was 
destroyed and looted.  More then 400 of the crew died in the TRIFFID's 
destruction.  Many of the survivors weere taken as hostages and POWs.  
Hemux was one of them.  She spent more then a year in an Orion slavecamp 
and was severely brutalized and raped during this time.  Later, the
negotiations of Star Fleet made an exchange of prisoners possible and 
Hemux gained her freedom back.  Since those days in the labor camps she 
has since harbored a deep hatred of Orions and their brutality against 
females or children.

After careful treatment and physiological check ups Hemux was declared 
fit for active duty again.

ARr’Rhiana is a female who loves to be around people and tries to make 
friends quickly.  She is trustful of anyone and believe in the good of 
people until proven wrong and even then she tries to find the best in the 
worst out of anyone.  

She loves to talk and chat about just anything, sometimes to annoyance of 
people around her.  She is also a very good listening and has gained the 
trust of many of her former classmates or crewmembers and became a good 
friend and help in difficult situations.

She is not into many physical activities although she likes to play 
Pareses Squares (and is rather good at it since she has already playing 
for more then fifteen years.  And as all Denobulans, she is very good in 
climbing and loves to spend time in the Holodeck creating new challenges 
or replicate famous slopes and mountains from planets to climb.

Her major pastimes are entomology and photographing all kind off insects 
and other anrthropods of any planets she visits.  She has a collection 
of more then 20.000 species photographed and collected.  She is also a 
member of the Star Fleet entomological society.

As interested as she is in Engineering and Science she is also a member 
of the Star Fleet Warp Dynamics Science Club to exchange ideas and 
theories about better propulsion, play with miniature starships, design 
new (mostly impossible) theories or specifications for warpdrives and so 
on.

handle almost anything that is thrown at her.  She is very social and 
able to interact with many people of different species.

She will make a great asset to any crew, as she never gives up, 
working on a problem until it is solved, (whether that is to her 
detriment or not).  I have high hopes that she will one day, extend to 
her full potential, and form great friendships.

V. Skills Profile
=================

ARr’Rhiana is in a good physical condition as expected for any Star Fleet 
officer in active duty.  She is rather skilled in hand to hand combat.  
During her time in the Orion slave camps she has learn many of the ‘dirty 
tricks’ to fight and survive in hostile situations although she only will 
use those ‘tricks’ when it is really necessary.

As any Denobulan she is perfectly skilled in climbing.

As most Denobulans Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux is also skilled in many scientific 
area’s.  Her long lifespan makes it possible to take several studies and 
classes so she is rather good in languages, biology, engineering and 
chemistry.

VI. Recent Fitness Reports
==========================

Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux is in good athletic condition.  She averages in most 
sports and disciplines except for climbing and jumping where she excels over 
most other members of Star Fleet.

Her normal senses are excellent, good vision ,hearing, above average 
touch and incredible smell (probably from her Denobulan origin as 
pheromones play a major role in mating sexual life for the Denobulans.)

She had several minor injuries as a left ankle dislocation, broken wrist 
from climbing, two broken ribs from falling of a cliff.  Also several 
minor scars gained during normal situations in the Star Fleet.

VI. Recent Fitness Reports, CLASSIFIED
======================================

Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux has been held as a POW in an Orion labour camp for 
about a year.  During this time she has been abused and tortured both 
mentally and physically.  She has been known to endure torture by burning 
(severe burning wounds on back and side of upper abdominal section), 
breaking and dislocation of limbs and extrements (right upper arm broken 
twice, all fingers been dislocated, noose and jaw been broken).

Other means of torture that have been confirmed are pulling out toenails 
(very humiliating and painfull for Denobulans) to such degree that at 
least two will never grow back again.  Also the tongue of Lt Hemux has 
been pierced and burned several times.

Finally she has been abused and raped on several occasions,  both by 
Orion guards and some other prisoners in the labour camp.

Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux  has a strong and keen mind, in general she is a 
friendly, enjoyable companion.  Her main draw back is that, as Denobulan, 
she is not very comfortable with open spaces, loneliness and lack of 
company.

Since her time in the Orion camps Lt Hemux sometimes suffers from periods 
with nightmares and outbursts of anger or fear.  She has developed a 
dislike, close to hatred for Orions or any people who abuse people or 
restrict any ones freedom, certainly woman and children.

VII. Psychological Profile CLASSIFIED
=====================================

Although both physical and mental testing shows Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux is 
capable of resuming duty in Star Fleet we recommend a close follow up by 
the ships doctor or counsellor.  It might be possible thet Lt ARr’Rhiana 
Hemux suffers from stress and nightmares or other symptoms once again in 
full duty and under stressful situations.  This might affect her 
possibility to perform her duty as expected.

Also personal conversations with Lt Hemux  have revealed a hatred towards 
Orions, labour-camps and people who brutalize or abuse innocent females 
and children.  Since some cultures Star Fleet works with or might 
encounter on a First Contact have not developed highly cultural status 
for all individuals it might cause problems.

Also the nightmares from Lt Hemux are an indication she still suffers 
from mental problems caused by her time in the labour-camps.  
Furthermore is Lt ARr’Rhiana Hemux shamed about some of her injuries she 
has gained during her stay in the camps.  The loss of two toenails, the 
fact that her tongue has been pierced and burned and her being raped are 
subjects she likes to ignore and suppress, any remarks on those subjects 
might cause aggression, depression or other problems.

Gar is, in most ways, a typical Andorian: passionate, prone to violence, 
organized almost to a fault, and disciplined- most of the time.  He is
usually very much the epitome of professionalism, albeit a little excited.

However, unlike most Andorians his age, he is not married; he rejected the
typical marriage arrangements made by his parents and struck out on his
own.  This has given him a detachment from Andoria that other Andorians do
not usually possess.  While he harbors no ill-will towards his homeworld,
and still maintains a romantic attachment to his birthplace, he considers
Starfleet very much his home.

Physically, he is, as most Andorians are, hardier and stronger than most
humans, as well as being taller and heavier- this is due to the greater
gravity and harsher conditions of Andoria.

Like many Andorians, Gar is well-trained in the martial arts of his culture,
and has attained the equivalent of a 2nd-degree black belt in his studies.

He is also a crack shot with a phaser, to the point where he does not even
need to level his weapon at eye height to hit his target.

Gar is also an accomplished artist, preferring to work mostly in watercolors.
As one would imagine given his homeworld, his landscapes tend to be of frozen
wastelands.

Finally, Gar has a wonderful singing voice.  Though not quite at the level
of the great Andorian vocalists, he can more than hold a tune.

13: 	Tried for his first felony, later acquitted on all counts. He was 
	tried for Manslaughter in the First Degree due to a fight that 
	broke out in his colony in New Atlantis while he was on break 
	from the School, a fight broke out between his father and another 
	man, he broke it up, and killed the man who attacked his father.

31-32:	Served in Naval Special Ground Operations Core as a forward 
	outpost commander in actions against the Romulans, the Klingons, 
	and what might have been the Gorn.  For his distinguished 
	service, he was promoted to Lieutenant.  

32:	Received Medal of Honor for action on the planet Demetrius IV, 
	where hundreds thousands of miles away from Federation space, 
	with almost no equipment, and with three wounds in the legs 
	and the side of his torso, he was able to carry out a successful 
	mission and rescued three of his comrades.  Reassigned to SEC,
	USS HOOD.

If a man could come close to a bull, you have found him. His body mass is 
possibly up to 85% muscle. Cardiovascular functions are amazing, and 
scans estimate his heart to be about the size of a football. He is also 
resilient and has extremely high pain tolerance. In studies of crew 
susceptibility to phaser stuns, his mass and insensitivity to pain made 
it take 5 long bursts from a phaser to bring him down.
