As Maril sat down in a chair, he touched the communications console on the
nearby table. "Maril to Commander Zane," he started.
Soon, the Captain's face appeared on the same console. [What's the matter,
Commander?] he asked.
"Just the spy returning to the headquarters."
[What do you have to report?]
"Lieutenant Jenn is still resting after I told her the news that Kavan has died,
although she would be the mountain in the storm if she is not affected by that."
[Or perhaps a Vulcan,] Zane smiled.
Maril laughed at the joke, then continued. "Lieutenant Glin'kharr is ill for
unknown reasons. He claimed, while he was in a fever state, that the Ring is trying to
change his species somehow. After that, he became more delirious, however. T'Del is
looking into it."
[Hmm.... Rather strange. Well, continue.]
"Ensign Serra has contracted the Plague, and-"
[Serra has gotten the Plague! Great! My 2O, my CMO, and CSciO, all sick or
injured. If you hadn't escaped from the settlement, there might not be a functioning
senior officer down there!] Zane took a deep breath. [Anything else, Commander?]
"Well, it doesn't look good for Serra. If we don't find a cure, he may die. Also,
now that the virus has found a way around the vaccine, it may start to spread more
quickly."
The Captain did not look happy.
"However, I do have some good news. All of the settlement team escaped, and
we were also able to bring all of our equipment and the records and information. So, all
of the information gathered in the settlement is now available."
[Well, we believe that operatives of the Order have escaped onto a convoy of
Panarik freighters. Accordingly, Lieutenant Jerran and a group of officers have set out
on a health and safety examination of the freighters. Hopefully, we will find the
fugitives.]
Maril looked thoughtful for a second, and then replied. "We should make sure
we are not fighting the river and the army at the same time. I think we should have a
conference of all available officers at...2000 hours?"
[Very well. Everyone up here except for Jerran can be in the conference. What
about down there?]
"I'm not sure. Possibly Jenn, but I don't think either Glin'kharr or Serra will be
able to attend."
[Well, we'll do what we can. Zane out.]
The screen on the console faded to black. Maril sighed. Was it possible to
defeat this virus which could mutate so quickly?

NRPG:
Well, I'm just throwing these ideas around. We'll see who can get to the conference. :) I
guess it will be a holo-conference so that we don't risk spread of the virus. I've got a
few ideas on how to defeat this Plague. Hopefully, I'm not the only one. ;)
