About William Franklin:
William Franklin was born in the town of Safford Arizona on July 31st in
2374. His parents were Starfleet Officers. When he was five years old in
2379, his parents boarded the Ambassador-class USS Holland. His father
was the commanding officer, and his mother was the ship’s chief medical
officer. Six months into their expedition the ship was attacked by
Cardassian Pirates. The Holland was ambushed in the Aragon System.

Young William Franklin was placed into an emergency cryogenic stasis unit
during the battle to keep him safe by his mother. The ship was boarded
and everything of value and military significance was taken. He watched
frozen in time, that his mother was murdered by Cardassian Pirates before
his eyes.

Unknown to the young boy, Klingons picked up the Holland distress signal
and answered it. It drove off the three Cardassian Pirate Ships. The
vessel that responded was the Vor’cha class cruiser IKV Khitomer commanded
by Captain Kagg of the Klingon Self-Defense Force. Captain Kagg led a
rescue party to the hulk when they discovered human life signs barely
registering.

Kagg and his people discovered the pod lying among the wreckage in sickbay.
After having the field switched off and finding a young human boy Kagg
decided that any human much less a baby could withstand the onslaught
had Klingon blood in him. Indeed the youngster did attack with ferocity
one of Kagg’s officers biting his arm and poking his eyes with as much
strength as the strength of a child could offer.

Electing to take the child back to Qu’Nos he contacted the Federation
Embassy on the Klingon Homeworld and attempted to locate human family
members of the young orphan.

The Federation Government responded quickly stating there were no living
human relatives of the boy and he would be placed in an Orphanage on
Bajor for proper care and adoption.

Kagg spoke to his wife about the situation and with his wife’s
agreement adopted the young boy and began to teach him the value of
honor, life and sacrifice. Molding him into harnessing the power
of a survivor from a war torn situation. Turning him into what
a Klingon is.

He attended the Klingon Warrior Academy, a sort of school of children
of Elite Klingon Military Members. He often fought with his adopted
siblings sometimes being called weak to the point where both his
adopted brother and he were often having to be in sickbay and other
medical facilities for treatment of broken bones and bruises.

He attracted the daughter of a visiting Human delegation but had no
interest in Human women; in fact he pursued a friend of his
sister.

At age 17 just before he entered Starfleet Academy, William Franklin
had taken part in the Klingon Batleth Tournament taking Champion
Third Standing.

His freshman year in Starfleet Academy he began fighting with several
fellow cadets, who mocked his upbringing, questioned his family. He
was bullied but never backed down. He was disciplined twice in
that year. His third year in the academy he got into a very verbal
fight or spirited discussion with a visiting professor, a Cardassian
over his interpretation of the Federation-Cardassian Wars and the
First Dominion War. He wound up ensuring a demerit, a disciplinary
citation and two week suspension from the academy.

However, the Cardassian Scholar spoke on his behalf about how he had
failed to address all points of view during the debate only allowing
those pro Cardassian debates. Cadet Franklin’s suspension was cut
short to 4 days and community service. The Scholar never again
threatened or questioned the validly of other points of view.

His senior year, the final physical examination, a test of leadership
and bravery, one of the pop quiz tests that some instructors choose
to inflict without using holographic materials.

Cadet Franklin was in a group of six people. They were out on
a hiking/camping trip when a rock slide took place gravely
injuring the chaperone of their trip, Commander Greg Lusby.
With Commander Lusby unable to walk with a broken left ankle and
a broken leg and lost in an area where the Federation Bureau of
Interior says no technology or communications of any kind were
allowed it was up to the cadets to determine how they can work.

With Franklin a history of teamwork failures in the group many
of the cadets began voicing the fact to abandon their work and
head for safety.

Cadet Franklin, using his Klingon upbringing took charge of the
situation. He had two cadets and himself prop Commander Lusby
up with makeshift medical what would be considered dark ages.
He then fashioned a spear from wood to go hunting stating.
“Survival is the first priority, honor demands it. Food,
Shelter. The strong protects the weak.”

Cadet Estrada challenged the Cadet’s honor and integrity stating.
“Klingons can get us killed. You don’t know what we’re doing here.
Our plan has changed we need to leave Lusby and head for safety,
we’ll bring back a rescue party.”

“Go then if you are afraid of staying here. First priority in
an accident, remain where you are. Use your resources, protect
yourself from the elements. Keep yourself secure until help
arrives. However, if you must choose the path of felknor by
all means go ahead.”

Four days later Help arrived. When Commander Lusby was stabilized
he called the cadet’s actions into question. Franklin knew he
had the opportunity to leave since Klingon tradition usually left
weak and injured to their own devices yet when the rest of the
cadets left to head for safety and security and to find help, Cadet
Franklin stayed protecting his superior officer from the elements,
predators and others of the like. However, the Commander pointed
out that Franklin not only passed the survivor course and training
but displayed a rare courage found in leaders. A Man willing to
stake his life for his fellow man. Despite protestations otherwise
that staying there would harm the cadets, he let the other cadets
leave for safety and he himself remained behind out of honor and
loyalty to Lusby.

The other Cadets were given satisfactory passing grades, but Cadet
Franklin was given a citation for remaining behind above and
beyond the call of duty.

He graduated in the top ten percent of his academy class.

Following his graduation, Franklin, now an Ensign was posted to
the USS Sovereign as chief helm officer under the command of
Captain Rudy Reed. He stayed on the Sovereign for two years.
He never once questioned Captain Reed in public believing that
one’s superior officer, knowledge and ability were never to be
questioned in front of others. Instead he privately talked
with Captain Reed about his concerns.

Reed enjoyed these private discussions stating that a leader
finds time to question and times to follow orders. After two
years on the Sovereign he was posted to the USS Oriskany, as
Chief of Security and promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.
During his time on the Oriskany his ship was engaged in battle
with Yridian Arms Merchants. The Oriskany was boarded; the
ship’s captain and first officer were killed. Lieutenant JG
Franklin took what remained of the ship’s bridge crew and
drove the Yridian Scavenger’s back. The Oriskany, a
Franklin-class destroyer was then scrapped due to damage it
sustained in the incident.

Promoted to Full Lieutenant, Will took a position on the USS Ajax
as chief of operations. This was where he began to be groomed
for eventual command. Four months into his service aboard the
Ajax Lieutenant Franklin was appointed second officer, but
since the First Officer was temporarily filling in for the
Captain, young Lieutenant Franklin had to lead his first
away mission to the planet of Caledonia Prime.

The Planet was a federation fortress; Fort Caledonia had been
attacked and sent out a distress call. Upon Arrival the Ajax
sent down Lieutenant Franklin and several Starfleet medical,
security and marine reinforcement units to back up the
facility.

The Exact conditions and actions on the ground by Lieutenant
Franklin and his team found and actions conducted remain
classified by Starfleet Intelligence Command. He was promoted
to Lieutenant Commander a year after that incident.

At the end of his tour of duty, Franklin accepted a position
of Second officer on the USS George Washington, a Caesar
Augustus Class Heavy Cruiser. It was here during the second
dominion war, that William Franklin’s abilities as a solider
and a combat leader were then called into action. The Second
Dominion War broke out; the George Washington intercepted a
Jem-Hadar Phantom Class Corvette attacking a Federation
Humanitarian Relief Convoy heading for Romulus. The George
Washington took a direct torpedo hit killing the Captain.
The First officer was in a coma as a result of battle damage
sustained.

The duty fell to Lieutenant Commander Franklin to escort the
badly damaged convoy with an even worse off starship under
his temporary command. The ships made it to their
destination. The George Washington was repaired and Refitted
at RMF Six, near the Federation-Romulan Border. Franklin
continued to serve as Second officer under the new Captain,
formerly the first officer, and Commander Koori, a Klingon
First Officer.

After four years on the GW he took the first officer’s
position on the USS John Paul Jones under the command of
his first commanding officer, Rudy Reed, now a Commodore.

The Jones was responsible for conducting raids against the
Dominion Supply Lines and other essential facilities. One
mission the Jones struck at a Dominion Shipyard held deep
within Ferengi Territory. Commander Franklin led a party to
repel boarders. He was wounded badly but still managed to
hold them off until the Jones received assistance in the form
of several other starships most notably, the CYCLOPS and the
Athena both were Battlecruisers.

He served with distinction for five years on the Jones until
he was offered and accepted the promotion to Captain and
commanding officer of the Jones’s sister ship, the Farragut,
another Caesar Augustus Class heavy Cruiser.

He embarked on a Five year Mission on the Farragut eventually
earning several battle commendations for combat actions
against the Fardons and several other hostile species such
as the Holdfast and the Gorn. His last action, the Farragut
was so badly damaged and had to be scuttled for fear that the
Fardon’s would gain the tactical advantage they require to
gain a foothold on Federation Territory.

Captain Franklin was briefly questioned about the Farragut
and her destruction but Starfleet command reviewed his
service record and found the incident without complaint.
He acted within the bounds of his orders after battle with
Fardon Forces. He was rescued by the USS Julius Caesar
and returned to Federation Space.

After the exoneration during the Farragut Inquiry, he was
quickly returned to duty and placed at a shipyard that was
primarily responsible for building Federation Warships
such as the Agamemnon.

He was in command USS ODYSSEUS NCC 25034 during her final
trial runs prior to commissioning when a Foothold
situation occurred. Admiral Conrad Veld ordered Captain
Franklin to head to Starbase Foothold to reinforce the
defenses of the station.

William Franklin Remains in command of the ODYSSEUS.
