Notes:

The design for the GALAXY-class starship has changed little since
the days of Captain Jean Luc-Picard, who commanded on of the
first ships of this class, USS ENTERPRISE, NCC-1701-D. Systems
upgrades have made this spaceframe viable dispite its nearly
fifty (50) years in service. In 2343, the GALAXY Class Project
was approved. This project bore its first fruits when the USS
GALAXY was launched in 2358.

The GALAXY-class spaceframe is the basis for the OLYMPIC-class
command cruiser and the experimental USS FENRIS, designated as a
fourth generation experimental ship of the GALAXY line. All of
these ship classes are capable of seperating and reattaching the
saucer section from the stardrive section in space operations.
Most major Starfleet capitol ships use the GALAXY-class
spaceframe.
