Notes:

The BOGUE-class escort carrier fills a very particular niche in
the fleet. With the expanse of the Federation making it
impossible for full starships to patrol every region of space or
to escort every convoy, there is a need for cost effective
deployment of lighter craft for that purpose.

Thus was born the escort carrier. Only a fraction of the size of
an assault carrier and carrying only one quarter of the air wing
and far fewer auxiliary shuttles, they are not intended for
large-scale engagements. However, in patroling border regions
and in transporting and deploying small air wings, there are no
other comparable vessels in the inventory.

The one feature that the BOUGUE shares with many of its larger
assault and fleet carrier cousins is the large sensor tracking
dish which rides on a pylon on the after of the ship.

The landing bay is narrow, little more than needed for two combat
shuttles to sit side-by side in the bay, and extends through the
ship. Storage and maintenance facilities are located to each
side of the bay. The bay doors are located on the ventral (lo
wer) side of the vessel, facing fore and aft.

It is normal for CVE's to operate in close proximity to
auxilliary forces including destroyers and frigates so that these
vessels may be called in to assist in the case on a larger
threat.

*Complement includes 24 single-seat craft and pilots and sensor
intercept officers for the E-12's. If there are 2 two-seat
combat shuttles aboard, there would be an additional officer for
each who would act as sensor intercept officer (SIO).
