Notes:

The RELENTLESS-class Frigate is the successor of a venerable design
that goes back to the Miranda-class, a type of ship that has proven
itself countless times.

Fast, maneuverable, resilient and packing a punch, the RELENTLESS-class
ships can serve a number of mission profiles, not just as
escorts. Despite her size, she has surprising autonomy that makes
her able to perform scientific, diplomatic and exploratory missions
if so ordered. Prepared for combat and to defend her protegées, the
ship has excellent tactical systems and sensors, including planetary
observation.

The new ILN-70x nacelle series has improved Warp coils using a
system of multiple concentric layers that provides an exceptional
thermal reaction and allows for softer acceleration curves and finer
control in the local manifold deformation. Dedicated computer nodes,
gathering information in real time, are able to calculate the Warp
bubble geometry tensor at triple the frequency and almost ten times
as precisely as older models. This allows for faster speeds with less
energy expenditure, allowing for faster, longer Warp travels.

In addition to the new Warp system, the RELENTLESS-class is equipped
with the latest Gen V D-Warp technology, which coupled with the
improved shields and SRPS-1 radiation phase shielding system,
allows for considerably faster and more robust D-Warp travel in all
Hyperspace bands. This new D-Warp iteration offers improved control
over local gravimetrics, providing extremely agile and responsive
sublight flight. Coupled with the very light and sturdy spaceframe
of the ship, this provides one of best gravitic plane drive in the
whole catalog of StarFleet.

The ship has 12 decks of roughly 3.8 meters high, with the Bridge on
deck 4. Decks 1 and 2 correspond to the weapons pod and maintenance
rooms, and deck 3 is mostly the arch that conforms the roll
bar. There's a mess hall in the saucer section, on deck 9, called
'The Nine Planets'.

The ample main Hangar is on decks 7,8 and 9 and faces aft, while
there's an auxiliary Hangar facing forward on decks 6 and 7.

Ship names are based on "classic" ship names of the past, preferably
from the Royal Navy:

USS INDEFATIGABLE* USS RELIANT
USS SWIFTSURE USS SCEPTRE
USS VINDICTIVE USS REDOUBTABLE
USS DEFENSE USS CORAGEAUX
USS SUPERB

Note: this ship class was named originally Indefatigable as a homage
to Greg Rickards, who played as her CO for many years. The ship name
is currently borne by a KIROV-class cruiser. It is suggested that the
name gets attached to this class of starship once the current owner
is decommissioned from that moment onwards.
