NOTES:

The CORAL REEF-class is the latest modular design for an utility
ship that is designed for all sort of tasks within friendly space,
mainly supplies cargo, engineering tasks, scientific studies and even
diplomatic missions.

There are three types of CORAL REEF-class ships, specialized in
Engineering, Sciences or Command, signaled by the corresponding
yellow, blue or red stripes.

Engineering ships are mainly tasked with supplies redistribution,
general repairs, outpost deployment and maintenance and station
and ship support. Science ships are mainly tasked with long range
sensor array deployments and maintenance, second layer astrometry
and cartography and assistance to other ships in scientific missions,
even assisting in medical relief missions. Command ships are tasked
with diplomatic missions, assistance to first and second contact
missions, command and flag personnel transport and general duty
support to other ships in the area, if necessary.

The ships are fast and nimble, well manned and with a slight
overabundance of the key personnel for each mission profile. They
have excellent generalistic sensors, top of the class shields and
are sufficiently well armed for their mission profiles. They are not
the most glamorous ships, but they are deceptively sturdy, extremely
hard working ships that run seamlessly in the background, liberating
other ships from routine, important 'maintenance tasks'.

The new ILN-70x nacelle series has improved Warp coils using a
system of multiple concentrical layers that provides an exceptional
thermal reaction and allows for softer acceleration curves and finer
control in the local manifold deformation. Dedicated computer nodes,
gathering information in real time, are able to calculate the Warp
bubble geometry tensor at triple the frequency and almost ten times
as precisely as older models. This allows for faster speeds with less
energy expenditure, allowing for faster, longer Warp travels.

In addition to the new Warp system, the CORAL REEF-class FF is the
first frigate to be equipped with the latest Gen V D-Warp technology,
which coupled with the improved shields and SRPS-1 radiation phase
shielding system, allows for considerably faster and more robust
D-Warp travel in all Hyperspace bands. This new D-Warp iteration
offers improved control over local gravimetrics, providing extremely
agile and responsive sublight flight. Coupled with the very light and
sturdy spaceframe of the ship, this provides one of the best gravitic
plane drive in the whole catalog of StarFleet.

The primary hull comprises 9 decks of 4 meters high each, and contains
the bridge on deck 1, aux Hangar bays 2 and 3 and the phaser strips and
torpedo launchers, as well as a big mess hall on de forward starboard
side of deck 4 called 'The Lucky Clover' or 4-Forward. It also has
a heavy duty tractor beam emitter on decks 5 and 6 aft, useful for
towing orbital structures and even other ships up to Warp 6.

The secondary hull has 3 decks of 4 meters each and contains Hangar
bay 1, with the SESR modules, the main deflector and the Warp core
and M/AM reactor. The Engineering section is attached to the nacelles
through a couple of secondary pylons, like the Oberth-class. The
communication between the primary and secondary hulls is performed
via dedicated turbolifts that travel through the pylons and nacelles
in dedicated tubes, as well as all energy conduits.

Ships of the class are named after important coral reefs and places
near them all throughout the Federation, registry numbers in the
NCC-755xx series.
