TITLE:  ASR Admin Mentorship Program

RATIONALE: To formalize a mentorship program between ASR senior 
players with adminstration (admin) experience and newer players 
who are interested in serving in the ASR administration.  The 
Program would provide an infrastructure that provides advice, 
guidance and possible apprenticeships.

In the past, ASR has trained its new administrators at all levels 
on an informal and ad hoc basis.  This has resulted in a 
haphazard recruitment process by which those who are lucky enough 
to be in contact with senior players who are willing to advise 
them got guidance and neglected others who have been just as 
talented and interested in serving in admin positions but not 
quite so lucky in finding people to advise them.
 
A formal mentorship program provides an infrastructure that would 
bring together senior players who are currently in admin or have 
been in the past (mentors), and newer players who are interested 
in being more involved in admin (mentees).
 
A Mentorship Coordinator would be necessary to do the initial 
match up between mentors and mentees.  The person should be a 
senior player who is knowledgeable about how the various parts of 
ASR admin works and its current state, as well as a broad awareness 
of the current pool of senior players.
 
Mentors are senior players with some degree of experience in ASR 
admin (current or past, at any level - Flag Council, Branches, 
Fleet admin, COs) who volunteer to be available to one (or more, 
depending) mentees to provide advice and guidance.  If the mentor 
is currently in a role that the mentee would like to consider in 
future, the mentor might consider taking him/her on as an 
apprentice/observer.
 
Mentees are players who have been in ASR for at least one 
consecutive year and are interested and has shown potential for 
admin-type roles through pro-active posting and NRPG activities and 
otherwise shows through actions a desire and willingness to take on 
more responsibilities in the running of the club.  The players 
should apply through their COs and should be recommended by them.  
COs can also ask players who they think have potential whether they 
would like to participate in the program.
 
This program does not prevent those who have developed informal 
advisor/advisee relationships with more experienced players from 
continuing those relationships.  The program would in fact 
encourage those kinds of relationships and also provide a way for 
those who have not found an advisor informally but would like to 
learn more about ASR admin and gives them a place to go find such 
an advisor.
