B. Background Summary:
======================
Eric grew up on the Falora Prime colony, a mining colony that is a
member of the Federation but owned largely by Davram Mineral
Extraction Industries. His father and most of his extended family
worked as grunt labor in the mines (DMEI does not use automation for a
large part of its operation). He was given a very basic and
simplistic education by the DMEI school system, but only went to
school half days and worked in the mines the other half. All workers
at DMEI are provided very basic housing and little else.
When he was 9, Eric began using his share of DMEI “credits” to obtain
“book PADDS.” He read these in whatever free time he had. When the
Federation learned of the appalling educational situation on DMEI
worlds, they established secondary schools and enforced that the DMEI
require attendance. Eric excelled in the Federation Secondary school
and in his second year at the school began reading books on tactics,
which he found extremely interesting. He learned of Starfleet, and
decided that he was going to be a member.
His family laughed at the idea and rebuked him, telling him that
mining was all he’d ever be good for, just like the rest of them. In
his Senior year at the Federation school, Eric worked his hardest,
taking extra study sessions with the teachers there to be able to test
into SFA. He was accepted, and immediately enrolled.
At SFA, Eric continued to excel at tactical studies, and made that, in
conjunction with Security, his major. At SFA Eric discovered that in
conjunction with his Tactical studies, he thoroughly enjoyed the
Starfleet Security program. He took courses his Junior and Senior
years in Close Combat and Weapon Specialization. The UFP had been the
first to give him a chance to move beyond where he was, and he wanted
to give back to them. He knew that Security and Tactical was his
calling. He also discovered that he enjoyed the sciences, and found
engineering fascinating, so he minored in Engineering in the free time
opened up by moving ahead of most of his freshman and sophomore year
major-specific classes.
His posting to the CONCORD was a scarring experience, and it led to
him be selective in developing close relationships early in his
career, for fear of losing those close to him again after being
ostracized by his family for joining Starfleet.
His grief and repressed sense of helplessness from the CONCORD was
finally dealt with thanks to his relationship with his wife, Lyrica
Shae, and the birth of their son. Since then, his knack for
developing close relationships with fellow members of the senior staff
has only grown thanks to his openness, and he is considered by his
colleagues to be someone that they can rely on, both on and off duty.
His experiences on DS13 allowed him to grow as an officer and develop
in his command experience, testing him with some difficult situations.
He enjoys tactics and intelligence work, and so spent a long shore
rotation at TACFLEET, but desired to return to active line duty which
is what finally led him back to his posting on the ISIS.
C. Personality Summary:
Eric is a very kind and outgoing person. Having worked his way up to
a promising career in Starfleet from being expected to be grunt labor
for Davram Mineral Extraction Industries has given him a sense of
place. He is content with where he is; knowing that he put himself
where he is through a lot of hard work. He feels a deep respect for
the UFP and wants to serve it through Starfleet because he feels that
they were the first ones to help him do what he wanted to.
Eric is very self motivated. He taught himself most of what he knows
about tactics, and continues to expand his knowledge. He minored in
Engineering at the Academy, mainly because he excelled so well in his
majors that he found time to pursue other interests. He loves the
field of Security and Tactics, and shows great promise in both areas.
He works very well with other people, developing as a strong leader in
his time in Starfleet.
He is faithful to Starfleet regulations, but is also willing to break
the rules when he thinks there is a greater good to be accomplished.

D. Service Notes
After completing training at ALB, Eric was assigned to the USS CONCORD
as assistant CSO. He served there for almost a year, until the
CONCORD was destroyed (information on the destruction of the CONCORD
is classified). For his service shortly before the destruction of the
CONCORD, and especially his service in keeping the survivors of the
CONCORD alive, Eric was promoted to Lt. (jg) following the official
Starfleet investigation and report.
Eric was then appointed as Chief Security Officer on the USS Ariane,
Red Fleet’s newest ship and the first of its class. Eric served
admirably on the Ariane, and his ingenuity in helping the ship through
a dangerous search and rescue mission gone awry resulted in his
promotion to full Lieutenant. Immediately thereafter, Eric was
reassigned to the newly created Gold Fleet, where he was given the
post of Combat Information Center Officer on Space Station Deep Space
13. In this post, he also served as the acting CO of one of the
station’s support vessel’s the USS TITANIA. He was assigned as acting
Operations Officer to fill a brief leave of absence and was later
given the position permanently.
He continued to distinguish himself on DS13, eventually being
appointed Executive Officer and frequently commanding the station's
support vessels in action. Based on his performance on DS13, he was
given a slot in the new Special Tactical and Command Warfare Training
at the Space Warfare Officers School. Following his work at SWOS, he
was assigned to a Shore Rotation at TACLFLEET. At TACFLEET, he
oversaw the Woren/Lehrren Section based on his first-hand experience
while at DS13, then worked on the GAMMA Quadrant division, and was
eventually promoted to Commander. He was recently assigned as XO on
the USS ISIS, a support vessel in the tactical squadron assigned to
the USS FEARLESS. When the FEARLESS' Captain was incapacitated
during their expedition in the GAMMA Quadrant, Eric was reassigned to
serve as XO on the FEARLESS.

“Eric is by far one of the most amazing tacticians I’ve had come
through my classroom doors in years. He is self-motivated and a
natural leader. He combines these skills with his knowledge and
experience to make a stunning tactical officer. He is also excellent
in the field of security, being very methodical, and able to think on
his feet. He had one of the highest scores in his class on his final
Tactical and Security Simulation and written exams. Eric was already
heavily into Tactics when he came to the Academy, but he discovered he
enjoyed the field of Security as well. He took courses in his Junior
and Senior years that allowed him to minor in Personal Combat. His
size and strength made it somewhat easy for him to fit in and learn
quickly. He also took many weapons specialization classes, and thus
in my opinion will make a good chief of security. It has been a
pleasure to have a student who I could banter with about tactics. His
“Team” for his tactical major won a good majority of simulated battles
under his leadership. He will go far in his career in SF.”
