QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Current Star Fleet, SFMC or OSFI member? Contact your unit’s Counselor or Human Resources Officer to confirm your eligibility for an inter-service transfer.

The ideal candidate for the position of SFSECIS Probationary Field Agent will have at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree from a UFP accredited college or university, as well as at least three years cumulative work experience in law enforcement, criminal investigations, and intelligence-related fields. Applicants with recognized certifications in these fields, prior Star Fleet/SFMC service, or prior military/intelligence service will be considered highly competitive.

  • Must be a United Federation of Planets member or Protectorate born or naturalized UFP citizen
(waiver possible for highly qualified applicants).
  • Must have a valid small craft pilot’s license.
  • Must pass all phases of the hiring process, including a polygraph, medical exam, drug test, and extensive background investigation.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Star Fleet Top Secret clearance.
  • Competitive candidates for the position of Probationary Agent will have at a minimum a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

PROBATIONARY AGENT HIRING PROCESS:

PHASE 1 – Initial Screening: Applications are screened for eligibility, suitability, desired skillsets, and experience based on the current needs of the service.

PHASE 2 – Interview Panel: Once the applicant has successfully completed the Initial Screening Phase, they will be scheduled for the Interview Panel Phase. Interviews are generally scheduled at the nearest SFSECIS field office location to the applicant given available resources. Interviews must be in person, holographic communications are not acceptable.

PHASE 3 – Holographic Physical Fitness Self-Test: All Probationary Agent applicants are required to meet physical fitness standards to effectively conduct law enforcement activities. You must conduct your own physical fitness evaluation and determine that you met the required standards. You will be sent a simulation program that must be completed within seven [7] days of receipt.

PHASE 4 – Polygraph: Upon successful completion of the Physical Fitness Phase, applicants will be scheduled for a pre-employment polygraph examination. Applicants must successfully pass the pre-employment polygraph examination. Those who do not successfully complete the polygraph will be removed from the applicant process and are not eligible to reapply for a position with SFSECIS.

PHASE 5 – Background Investigation: An extensive background investigation is conducted to ensure that the applicant is reliable, trustworthy, of good conduct and character, and loyal to the United Federation of Planets, i.e., suitable for employment.

The duration of the background investigation varies from applicant to applicant and is based on where the applicant has lived, worked, and traveled, as well as the volume of applicants SFSECIS is currently processing in a given sector.

PHASE 6 – Medical Examination & Drug Test: A thorough medical examination is conducted to determine if the potential employee is physically able to perform the duties of an SFSECIS Probationary Agent. The applicant may have a physical condition or injury that precludes them from performing the physical duties required. Examinations will be conducted by a Star Fleet Medical Officer on temporary additional duty with the service. SFSECIS is firmly committed to a drug-free society and workplace. The unlawful use of drugs by SFSECIS employees is not tolerated, and those who apply for employment with SFSECIS and currently use illegal drugs are considered unsuitable for employment.

PHASE 7 – Review Board: Following the successful completion of the aforementioned steps of the applicant process, a Review Board will be convened. The board consists of at least three senior-level managers from within SFSECIS. If the panel agrees the applicant would make a good candidate for a Special Agent position with SFSECIS, the applicant will be placed into the current hiring pool.

PHASE 8 – Hiring Pool: Applicants that were successful in the Review Board Phase are placed into the hiring pool. Applicants in the hiring pool are eligible to receive an offer of employment and may be selected for a position as Probationary Agent. Note: being placed into the hiring pool indicates that an applicant is eligible to receive an offer of employment but does not guarantee an offer will be made. Selections from the hiring pool are highly competitive and are based on the skills, experience, and education from those in the hiring pool at a given time.
