Delbrak is one of the Dommo identical triplets.  His skin tone is slightly darker than that of the typical Bolian, a trait that he shares with his brothers.  The one definable physical difference between Dremak and his brothers is that Delbrak possesses a cleft chin; the other two do not.  Otherwise, his basic build- height, weight, bearing, etc.- is so close to that of his brothers that it impossible to distinguish them without from one another without a tricorder.

Of course, Delbrak does not behave entirely like his brothers.  If such a thing could be said about Bolians, Delbrak is the more authoritative of the three (probably the reason he is a department head over the other two); however, he still resists the urge to indulge this authoritative side unless it is necessary from a chain of command standpoint.  In practice, he treats every exercise and assignment like a giant group project. While somewhat less formal, he DOES get results- and excellent ones at that.

This is Delbrak's 2nd assignment as a department head.  However, one notable piece of information is that he has never served anywhere without his brothers; in fact, they have always been assigned to the same department.  His last billet- TAC on the CEASAR AUGUSTUS-CA USS LEE, was the first time he had been placed in a position of direct authority over his brothers.

Most of the time, he chose to ignore that fact.

Delvok can be characterized as the "fun-lover" of the bunch- this is saying something given the normally extroverted behavior of the typical Bolian.  Delvok is usually the first one to begin talking to someone new, or set up the poker game, or arrange an impromptu party.  He is also the one in charge of the ship's "single's scene."  However, he does not participate himself-in true Bolian fashion, dating is done in groups, the larger the better.  Since most species consider this level of intimacy private, Delvok does not seek to date openly.

As a rule, he follows the chain of command except when behind closed doors or when at work with his brothers.

Delnax is the third of the Dommo triplets.  He is almost indistinguishable from the others (aside from small differences in height and weight) aside from a small, deep blue birthmark just over his right eyebrow.  This birthmark is the source of a running joke between the Dommo brothers; during a boarding operation while serving on USS LEE, his brother Delvok claimed that the mark appeared to be almost a spot-on replica of the very Romulan scout ship they were boarding.  His last job on INDEFATIGABLE has only added more fuel to this fire.

None of his brothers have this birthmark, though Delvin claims each of them has one as well- one of a Klingon bird-of-prey (Delbrak, on his leg) and a Borg cube (Delvok, on his chest).

Delnax has the most keen mind of the three Dommo brothers; he excels at all things mathematical- thus his posting as OPS' Cryptanalyst.  He is a natural code-breaker, able to see patterns that most people- and some computers- overlook.  When he doesn't see a pattern, he applies good old-fashioned Bolian work ethic to the problem, and usually wins out as a result.

Taneko Uzor is the product of an unusual union between his mother, an Andorian, and his father, a Bolian.  This has influenced his physical appearance some- he is shorter and stockier than typical Bolians, and his skin tone is darker than even the darkest of Bolians, making him more like Andorians than Bolians.  However, having been raised on Bolarus IX, he abides by all Bolian customs- including the ritual shaving of all body hair, which would be typical Andorian white would he allow it to grow.  His eye color

Uzor owes much of his behavior to his Andorian side as well.  He is more aggressive and individualistic than typical Bolians- his abilities in hand-to-hand combat are formidable.  He is also in possession of a "short fuse"- though most humans and Andorians would still call Taneko a "patient" person, he is positively short-tempered when compared against Bolians.

This being said, a lifetime of growing up immersed in Bolian culture has had its affect.  He is considerably more chipper and social in demeanor than most Andorians, and feels quite comfortable working in larger groups.  He also maintains a pronounced desire to please others...though not at the complete expense of himself.

Darzana is the wife of Pellor Jaxx, another technician in the Stellar Cartography division.  Her appearance is rather typical of Bolians- tall, sturdy and bald.  In Bolian society, even the women shave their body hair according to ritual; Darzana does not ignore this.  Her head, aside from the bifurcated ridge present on all Bolians, is smooth.

Darzana is one of those people that function better in a group setting than alone; her work in stellar cartography is almost always done in the company of her husband.  Essentially, they make sure the star maps are updated; every time INDEFATIGABLE traverses a region of space, the Jaxxes compare sensor readings with current maps and note any differences.  It can be a tedious job...but they do it well, so long as they do it together.

Pellor is somewhat stockier than average, but that is not a genetic condition; he simply enjoys his food too much.  He also bears orange eyes, the recessive gene for this trait coming from his father's side.  Otherwise, he is typically Bolian in appearance.

Bakal Mott is exceptionally tall and thin as compared to the average Bolian, and his cheekbones are set somewhat higher than typical.  These differences are due to the fact that, unlike the rest of the Bolian contingent on INDEFATIGABLE, he was born on the Bolian colony on Bolarus VIII, a smaller, warmer planet than Bolarus IX.  As a result, its lighter gravity produces taller people; it being closer to the sun produces a warmer, brighter climate, darkening natives of Bolarus VIII more than typical Bolians.

Most inhabitants of Bolarus VIII behave in a similar manner to those of Bolarus IX, as they took their culture and beliefs with them as they went.  The colonists' experiences on Bolarus VIII were not difficult and harsh; they received the full support of those on Bolarus IX- emotional and political as well as scientific and materiel.  As such, they encountered no hardships which would have caused a paradigm shift in behavior as a people- they are simply taller and darker than their more numerous brethren.

Hanudaroon is one of the Hoccu identical twins.  (Hisbrother, Hanuruk, is not in Starfleet; a childhood disease left Hanuruk permanently weakened, and he now assists his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins in administering the family’s agribusiness.)  Hanudaroon is somewhat rotund.  His skin tone is quite dark by Bolian standards.  However, his most distinctive physical feature is actually his eye color; amber eyes are far less common than even orange.  (In terms of rarity, the equivalent among humans would be violet eyes.)  Although his looks would generally be considered average, his amber eyes have been known to drive some young Bolian women wild.

Hanudaroon comes from an old agrarian family that provides much of the naturally-grown food on Bolarus IX’s southern continent.  A childhood interest in geology and geography ultimately led him to Starfleet Academy, and he graduated in 2411. Relatively soon after being posted to his first ship, the USS CLARK, that vessel was severely damaged; at the beginning on 2412, Hanudaroon (along with much of the CLARK’s crew) was transferred to a newly-built vessel, the USS INDEFATIGABLE.

Hanudaroon is particularly sociable, even by Bolian standards.  This is partly a consequence of a minor Bolian psychological disorder called Jekkom Syndrome (anxiety caused by separation from siblings), which is treated through medication but cannot be cured while he lives apart from his family.  He is enthusiastic, eager to please and industrious.  Well aware that his work as Ship’s Geologist is rarely of importance during the vessel’s missions, he tries to compensate by preparing endless reports, geological surveys and planetary profiles, just on the off-chance that they will be needed.

NOTES ON BOLIANS AND BOLIAN CULTURE

BASIC INFORMATION

  • Official Name in Standard: The Bolians
  • National Name: Bolarus (Bolarus VIII and IX).
  • Title of the Head of State: Councilor
  • Title of the Head of Government: Councilor

GEOGRAPHY/POPULATION

  • Quadrant/Sector/System: Bolian Sector
  • Suns/Planets/Planetoids/Moons: No natural satellites.

  • Population: 5.7 billion
  • Capital City: Lommat (Population 17.25 million)

  • Race(s) of Native Sentients: 100% Bolian
  • Land/Water Ratio(s) of Planets: 20/80
  • Largest City: Hosppat (Population 22.67 million)

ECONOMIC SUMMARY

Bolarus' economy revolves around high-tech industries, most prominently the development of anti-gravitational technology. They are becoming more and more immersed in anything related to ship-building, particularly warp and dimension-warp engineering.

Breakdown of living standards

  • Technosocialist age: 87 percent of population
  • Information age: 8 percent of population
  • Industrial age: 0 percent of population
  • Agrarian age: 5 percent of population

Bolarus is very much a modern world, as evidenced by the shear breakdown of its population. Only 5 percent of its economy is geared towards agribusiness- but that's all they need. Their technological level is sophisticated enough so that 5% more than fills the world's food needs. Of course, replication technology augments what is naturally grown. Animals on Bolarus are not bred and/or killed for food sources.

Atmosphere of the planet is Class M. Belarus' major imports consist largely of luxury items- exotic goods that cannot be produced on Bolarus proper. Most exports revolve around its high-tech manufacturing goods.

GOVERNMENT/HISTORY

  • Member of Federation? Yes, since 2320.
  • Planetary government since 2289.
  • Federation Protectorate from 2289-2320.

Bolians did not develop a planetary government until relatively late in comparison to other cultures; they saw no reason to do so earlier. There had not been a meaningful war fought on Bolian soil in hundreds of years, with all difficulties being sorted out at the appropriate governmental levels. This does not mean that passions amongst Bolians do not get heated; it simply means that patience won out in the end of every crisis.

It was only their discovery of the Federation that caused them to form a planetary government in the first place. The Federation, representing a conglomerate who, at least on paper, espouse similar beliefs, appealed to them- they wanted to become a part of something bigger than even themselves. As soon as their government was in place in 2289, they applied for Federation membership. However, the Federation wished to see the government in operation first.

The basis of the Bolian government is the Central Council. This body, made up of representatives from each town (which means that every family is represented, since each family IS its own township). Representatives are not "officially" elected, but are chosen by each family form amongst their adult members. The town/family's representative can be changed at any time. All decisions are made by the Council as a whole, with a simple majority needed for most decisions. A Councilor is appointed by the Council to act as its spokesperson in all foreign matters, but there is no term set or anything- the Councilor serves for as long as the Council sees fit.

This method of governing has served the Bolian people well; despite the potential for decisions being tied up in debate and argument, Bolians are adept at "group work" by nature- they are at their peek efficiency under such circumstances, and suffer no negative consequences for their choice of government.

RACE/SOCIETY/CULTURE

Bolarus IX is a large planet that is roughly like Earth- Class M, mostly wet (in fact a bit more so than Earth) with three large continents making up its land masses, and possessing gravity almost identical to Earth's.

Bolians have a general hominid appearance- bipedal and upright, head on top of torso. However, there are several cosmetic differences that make Bolians quite distinctive from other races. Most notably, their skin tone is blue, usually of a pale blue hue. This is due to both skin pigmentation and blood color; Bolian blood is blue. Also, Bolian have a bifurcated head and face, which divides it neatly in half. Typically, Bolian eyes are gold, but a recessive gene in their chromosomes will give the rare Bolian orange eyes.

Another trait characteristic of Bolians is their baldness. However, this is not a naturally occurring phenomenon, but rather a ritual in which most members of society, including a large proportion of the female population, indulge. According to Bolian beliefs, baldness is associated with physical prowess and dedication, two things Bolians typically take very seriously. A Bolian who chooses not to shave will likely have hair color ranging from light brown to platinum. Dark hair on a full Bolian is unheard of. The bifurcated ridge in the Bolian head has created a deeply divided brain- even more so than the Terran brain- which has the effect of making them resistant to hypnotic suggestion. It also tends to make more pronounced distinctions between "left" brain and "right" brain functions, which results often in very few multi-faceted Bolians in terms of skill variety- they tend to be very good at disciplines of a similar nature, and do not stray much from this.

The solar year is approximately 585 days long. Average temperature is 22 C on most parts of the planet and 36 C at the equator.

Bolian society revolves around the idea of the group. Families do not typically have a single spokesperson or decision-maker; all decisions are made by agreement between all adults in the family- once a child reaches adult age, he or she has an equal voice in familial proceedings. The typical Bolian family is extended rather than nuclear; not only do cousins, aunts and uncles live in close proximity to one another (not always under one roof, but at least neighboring one another), but the family expands with every marriage to include parents-in-law and their families. Some Bolian families have hundreds of people living in the same geographic area. This phenomena has given birth to the "megalopolis" on Bolarus IX, with cities typically 2-3 times larger than average Terran cities. Each family is essentially its own township, set up within city boundaries.

Child care is a burden accepted by all members of a family, not just the parents. The concept of the "village" raising the child is not a political platform to Bolians- it is common practice. All members of the family pitch in the education and rearing of the child, helping to instill Bolian beliefs and principals by example as well as word of mouth. This group concept is the underlying fabric of Bolian society. As a result, they tend to be extremely social creatures, preferring the company of large numbers as opposed to smaller; indeed, the cliché "The more the merrier" may have first been uttered by a Bolian. They excel when working in groups as opposed to alone, able to capitalize on the strengths of one another; they socialize in groups, usually preferring a large party to a smaller, more intimate gathering.

The group concept has fostered a trait that is unusual in most star faring races- there is no xenophobia amongst Bolians. Bolians learned early on that one of the strengths of the group idea was diversity in experiences and beliefs- if one was going to fully reap the rewards of the group concept, then one would have to forget any prejudice towards anyone "different." As such, xenophobia has not existed (except for in the select few) for thousands of years. They tend to view differences as strengths that can only broaden one's experience rather than a racially-inbred weakness.

The large group philosophy has also fostered an extreme desire to succeed in most Bolians. Success of the group is all that matters, and no Bolian wants to be thought of by his or her peers as someone who was not giving his or her very best effort. Personal success enhances group success, so the belief goes. As a result, Bolians are the consummate "team players."

Like most things in Bolian life, health care is socialized; the government covering all long-term expenditures. This practice stems from the government stance that it is simply looking out for the interests of a very large group- ALL Bolians. However, there is no assisted living in Bolian society- elder Bolians, if incapable of caring for themselves, are cared for by their families, with any assistance necessary provided by the government. However, Bolians are generally a people in excellent health; since most of their food products are genetically engineered or replicated, they are created to be exactly what Bolians need in terms of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, etc.

However, should a Bolian be terminally and painfully ill or with less than his or her complete faculties, they engage in the practice of euthanasia. This practice has caused some tensions to arise between Bolians and other cultures, but they view this as the final service one can perform for a respected member of the group. They don't see suffering as dignified or proper- they see it as an unnecessary burden to be lifted, and will do so almost without question or fail. It is considered one of their most sacred beliefs, and is one is honored by his participation in this elaborate ritual. On another level, they also argue that it is counterproductive to the group, but this argument only serves to enflame others. Though certainly a secondary motivation, it IS still a motive.

Created for/First Use (if known): "Conspiracy" was the first Next Generation episode in which Bolians were seen. Much of the basic character traits were taken from those episodes and subsequent episodes themselves. The elaboration on these, however, is my own conjecture.

Bolians have been seen in The Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager.

NOTES ON BOLIAN LANGUAGE

Not much is known about Bolian language. However, there are some structural peculiarities that bear mentioning.

NAMES

Traditional Bolian family names end in a double hard consonant, and are almost exclusively single-syllable names:

  • Domm
  • Finn
  • Warr
  • Mott
  • Ludd
  • Pell
  • Grexx
  • Trobb
  • Hegg
  • Hett
  • Garnn
  • Juff

The origin of Bolian family names bears close resemblance to some Terran customs. In Terran history, many surnames were created in order to show a relation to one's job. For instance, in ancient Terran England, one might have met a "John Smith," whose surname "Smith" indicated his trade- that of a smith. Often, this name stayed with a family through generations because all male members of the family line were trained in the same trade. Over time, however, the connection with the job faded, and surnames were passed down with the family instead of the trade.

Bolian tradition is remarkably similar in this manner. Many traditional Bolian names were taken from the job or trade of the person, with those names becoming associated less with the trade and more with the family over time until the connection to the trade faded completely.

SUFFIXES

Bolian language uses a lot of suffixes to denote all sorts of things, often differentiating between the size or number of the root it modifies.

For instance, some Bolian surnames have a "u" that follows the double hard consonant the typically ends Bolian surnames- people with this suffix are twins. Accordingly, surnames that end with an "o" signify triplets, and names that end in "a" signifies that the person is part of a set of quadruplets or larger. Of course, given the Bolian proclivity for groups, such people are generally held in high regard.

  • Domm (surname) + o (triplet suffix) = Dommo (surname for a set of triplets)
  • Hocc (surname) + u (twin suffix) = Hoccu (surname for a set of twins)

Also, Bolian location names have suffixes attached to them which denote the size of the town:

  • Large Megalopolis -at
  • Regular City -ar
  • Medium Town -ab
  • Small Village -al
  • Rural -or

Region names, like surnames, are typically single-syllable, and end in a double hard consonant. Most regions were likely named after famous or founding bolians- thus the similarity in construction to Bolian surnames.

  • Hospp (region/location) + at (suffix) = Hosppat (largest megalopolis)
  • Promm (region/location) + or (rural suffix)= Prommor (farming community)

There are other suffixes used in Bolian language, such as those added on to nouns/pronouns to denote singular and plural (again dealing with quantity). However, conspicuously enough, there are comparatively few prefixes.

BOLIAN NPC Sketches

LT Delbrak Dommo

  • (played by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Delbrak Dommo
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 28 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Strategic Operations Officer, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 192 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Gold
II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Delbrak is one of the Dommo identical triplets. His skin tone is
slightly darker than that of the typical Bolian, a trait that he
shares with his brothers. The one definable physical difference
between Dremak and his brothers is that Delbrak possesses a cleft
chin; the other two do not. Otherwise, his basic build- height,
weight, bearing, etc.- is so close to that of his brothers that it
impossible to distinguish them without from one another without a
tricorder.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Of course, Delbrak does not behave entirely like his brothers. If
such a thing could be said about Bolians, Delbrak is the more
authoritative of the three (probably the reason he is a department
head over the other two); however, he still resists the urge to
indulge this authoritative side unless it is necessary from a chain
of command standpoint. In practice, he treats every exercise and
assignment like a giant group project. While somewhat less formal,
he DOES get results- and excellent ones at that.

This is Delbrak's 2nd assignment as a department head. However,
one notable piece of information is that he has never served anywhere
without his brothers; in fact, they have always been assigned to the
same department. His last billet- TAC on the CEASAR AUGUSTUS-CA USS
LEE, was the first time he had been placed in a position of direct
authority over his brothers.

Most of the time, he chose to ignore that fact.

LTJG Delvok Dommo

  • (played by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Delvok Dommo
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 28 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Ship's Services Officer- Operations, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 5'11.5"
WEIGHT: 196 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Orange

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Delvok, another of the Dommo triplets, has skin tone that is
slightly darker than that of the typical Bolian, a trait that
he shares with his brothers. The one definable physical
difference between Delvok and his brothers is that Delvok
possesses orange eyes; the other two do not. Otherwise, his
basic build- height, weight, bearing, etc.- is so close to that
of his brothers that it impossible to distinguish them without
from one another without a tricorder.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Delvok can be characterized as the "fun-lover" of the bunch-
this is saying something given the normally extroverted behavior
of the typical Bolian. Delvok is usually the first one to begin
talking to someone new, or set up the poker game, or arrange an
impromptu party. He is also the one in charge of the ship's
"single's scene." However, he does not participate himself-in
true Bolian fashion, dating is done in groups, the larger the
better. Since most species consider this level of intimacy
private, Delvok does not seek to date openly.

As a rule, he follows the chain of command except when behind
closed doors or when at work with his brothers.

LTJG Delnax Dommo

  • (played by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Delnax Dommo
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 28 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Cryptanalysis Officer- Operations, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 186 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Gold

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Delnax is the third of the Dommo triplets. He is almost
indistinguishable from the others (aside from small differences
in height and weight) aside from a small, deep blue birthmark
just over his right eyebrow. This birthmark is the source of a
running joke between the Dommo brothers; during a boarding
operation while serving on USS LEE, his brother Delvok claimed
that the mark appeared to be almost a spot-on replica of the
very Romulan scout ship they were boarding. His last job on
INDEFATIGABLE has only added more fuel to this fire.

None of his brothers have this birthmark, though Delvin claims
each of them has one as well- one of a Klingon bird-of-prey
(Delbrak, on his leg) and a Borg cube (Delvok, on his chest).

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Delnax has the most keen mind of the three Dommo brothers; he
excels at all things mathematical- thus his posting as OPS'
Cryptanalyst. He is a natural code-breaker, able to see patterns
that most people- and some computers- overlook. When he doesn't
see a pattern, he applies good old-fashioned Bolian work ethic
to the problem, and usually wins out as a result.

LTJG Taneko Uzor

  • (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Taneko Uzor
RACE: Bolian/Andorian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 33 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: STRIKE Officer, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 5'9"
WEIGHT: 163 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Deep Blue
EYES: Ice Blue

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Taneko Uzor is the product of an unusual union between his
mother, an Andorian, and his father, a Bolian. This has
influenced his physical appearance some- he is shorter and
stockier than typical Bolians, and his skin tone is darker than
even the darkest of Bolians, making him more like Andorians
than Bolians. However, having been raised on Bolarus IX, he
abides by all Bolian customs- including the ritual shaving of
all body hair, which would be typical Andorian white would he
allow it to grow. His eye color is also typically Andorian.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Uzor owes much of his behavior to his Andorian side as well.
He is more aggressive and individualistic than typical Bolians-
his abilities in hand-to-hand combat are formidable. He is also
in possession of a "short fuse"- though most humans and Andorians
would still call Taneko a "patient" person, he is positively
short-tempered when compared against Bolians.

This being said, a lifetime of growing up immersed in Bolian
culture has had its affect. He is considerably more chipper and
social in demeanor than most Andorians, and feels quite comfortable
working in larger groups. He also maintains a pronounced desire to
please others...though not at the complete expense of himself.

IV. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
==============================

Taneko's last name, "Uzor," is not a typical Bolian name; it is
Andorian. Seeing as how his mother is Andorian by birth, he took
his mother's name; with no xenophobia present on Bolarus, this was
never an issue.

PO3 Darzana Jaxx

  • (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Darzana Jaxx
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 26 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: F
POSITION: Quartermaster 3rd Class- Stellar Cartography USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 5'8"
WEIGHT: 143 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Gold

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Darzana is the wife of Pellor Jaxx, another technician in the
Stellar Cartography division. Her appearance is rather typical
of Bolians- tall, sturdy and bald. In Bolian society, even the
women shave their body hair according to ritual; Darzana does
not ignore this. Her head, aside from the bifurcated ridge
present on all Bolians, is smooth.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Darzana is one of those people that function better in a group
setting than alone; her work in stellar cartography is almost
always done in the company of her husband. Essentially, they
make sure the star maps are updated; every time INDEFATIGABLE
traverses a region of space, the Jaxxes compare sensor readings
with current maps and note any differences. It can be a tedious
job...but they do it well, so long as they do it together.

Her career has been an ordinary one, handicapped at least in
part by her inability to work alone efficiently. However, her
successes otherwise have compensated for this.

PO2 Pellor Jaxx

  • (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Pellor Jaxx
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 27 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Quartermaster 2nd Class- Stellar Cartography, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 214 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Orange

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Pellor is somewhat stockier than average, but that is not a
genetic condition; he simply enjoys his food too much. He
also bears orange eyes, the recessive gene for this trait
coming from his father's side. Otherwise, he is typically
Bolian in appearance.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Pellor, like his wife, functions considerably more efficiently
when working with others; this efficiency increases further
when his wife is among the group. However, he is still able to
work alone when necessary and will not refuse to do so like his
wife.

CPO Bakal Mott

  • (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Bakal Mott
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus VIII)
AGE: 39 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Chief Warp Technician (WTC), USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 6'6"
WEIGHT: 212 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Deep Blue
EYES: Gold

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Bakal Mott is exceptionally tall and thin as compared to
the average Bolian, and his cheekbones are set somewhat
higher than typical. These differences are due to the fact
that, unlike the rest of the Bolian contingent on INDEFATIGABLE,
he was born on the Bolian colony on Bolarus VIII, a smaller,
warmer planet than Bolarus IX. As a result, its lighter
gravity produces taller people; it being closer to the sun
produces a warmer, brighter climate, darkening natives of
Bolarus VIII more than typical Bolians.

Since Bolians of any sort are not xenophobic by nature, his
differences from other Bolians have not met with difficulty.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Most inhabitants of Bolarus VIII behave in a similar manner
to those of Bolarus IX, as they took their culture and
beliefs with them as they went. The colonists' experiences
on Bolarus VIII were not difficult and harsh; they received
the full support of those on Bolarus IX- emotional and
political as well as scientific and materiel. As such, they
encountered no hardships which would have caused a paradigm
shift in behavior as a people- they are simply taller and
darker than their more numerous brethren.

As a result, aside from his somewhat different appearance,
Mott behaves as a typical Bolian would.

SCPO Melora Garnn

  • (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Melora Garnn
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 36 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: F
POSITION: Senior Chief Yeoman, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 5'5"
WEIGHT: 128 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Gold

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Melora Garnn is a woman of striking beauty, to Bolians and
non-Bolians alike. Her skin is a soft, understated blue,
and her features match her skin's delicateness. Her height
is barely average for a Bolian female.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Garnn fancies herself a "worldly" person, and she very much
acts and lives the part: she is cultured, widely read in the
literature several species; she is a connoisseur of wine,
especially Bolian and Terran vintages. She is an amateur
musician as well, making great strides on the horonna, a
Bolian string instrument similar to the Terran cello.

===MCPO John Smith===
* (created by Scott Lusby co-circe[at]alt-starfleet-rpg.org)
<pre>
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: John Smith
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 28 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Master Chief of Electronic Warfare, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 185 lbs.
HAIR: Platinum
SKIN: Pale Blue
EYES: Gold

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

John Smith is, in many ways, not even close to being a typical
Bolian; the differences are noticeable from the minute one
meets him. Firstly, he has hair- platinum, almost white; he
refuses to abide by most Bolian rituals. Secondly, he has had
surgery to hide the bifurcated ridge from his head and face;
this surgery has been a success.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

The guiding principal of John's life is one of individuality
rather than the more communistic belief held by the bulk of
Bolian society. John has sought to make himself wholly
separate from the rest of the Bolian community in an effort to
be a single entity rather than part of a larger group. As such,
he keeps to himself (this is why he wasn't among those who
greeted Voxx in the hangar bay) and prefers to work alone.

Despite this attitude, he HAS maintained some of the genetically-
engendered Bolian traits, such as an irrepressible drive to excel.
He, however, is generally NOT jovial; one would do better to
describe him as brooding and cynical.

His career to date has been good, and has even been talked about
as perhaps being a Warrant Officer candidate.

ENS Hanudaroon Hoccu

  • (created by Greg Rickards)
===============================================================
I. PERSONAL STATISTICS
===========================
NAME: Hanudaroon Hoccu
RACE: Bolian (Bolarus IX)
AGE: 26 Terran Standard Years
GENDER: M
POSITION: Ship’s Geologist, USS KUSANAGI
HEIGHT: 5'10.5"
WEIGHT: 215 lbs.
HAIR: None (ritually shorn)
SKIN: Deep Blue
EYES: Amber

II. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
===========================

Hanudaroon is one of the Hoccu identical twins. (His brother,
Hanuruk, is not in Starfleet; a childhood disease left Hanuruk
permanently weakened, and he now assists his parents, aunts,
uncles and cousins in administering the family’s agribusiness.)
Hanudaroon is somewhat rotund. His skin tone is quite dark by
Bolian standards. However, his most distinctive physical
feature is actually his eye color; amber eyes are far less
common than even orange. (In terms of rarity, the equivalent
among humans would be violet eyes.) Although his looks would
generally be considered average, his amber eyes have been known
to drive some young Bolian women wild.

III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
============================

Hanudaroon comes from an old agrarian family that provides much
of the naturally-grown food on Bolarus IX’s southern continent.
A childhood interest in geology and geography ultimately led
him to Starfleet Academy, and he graduated in 2411. Relatively
soon after being posted to his first ship, the USS CLARK, that
vessel was severely damaged; at the beginning on 2412,
Hanudaroon (along with much of the CLARK’s crew) was transferred
to a newly-built vessel, the USS INDEFATIGABLE.

Hanudaroon is particularly sociable, even by Bolian standards.
This is partly a consequence of a minor Bolian psychological
disorder called Jekkom Syndrome (anxiety caused by separation
from siblings), which is treated through medication but cannot
be cured while he lives apart from his family. He is enthusiastic,
eager to please and industrious. Well aware that his work as Ship’s
Geologist is rarely of importance during the vessel’s missions, he
tries to compensate by preparing endless reports, geological
surveys and planetary profiles, just on the off-chance that they
will be needed.
