SCENE: Guest Quarters and.... <br>
The Pirate Queen's servant lead the FEYNMAN group, minus LT. Jerran, to a luxurious filled with articles
and 'souvenirs' from in and outside of the Federation. Once there, the servant grunted and left them. Everyone
spread out to explore the room. Maril was drawn to the wall where two ancient swords of unknown origion
were secured to the wall, Tamarov went to an open balcony foregoing the cooler environment inside, and the
others sat around a table. J.C. turned to Commander Maril, "Sir, I don't like this whole situation. I have a
bad feeling. Joining this pirate band, possibly firing on another starship?"
"Relax Mr. Allard. Sit down. We shall do well." The Commander could see everyone was a bit tense. Ens. Lee had
gotten up and joined CPO Tamarov on the balcony. J.C. came over to the table to sit. "I guess you're right,
Sir. I just..." J.C. was cut off by Alex calling them.
"Everyone, Sirs, come here. Check this out...". He lead them to the South edge of the balcony bearing the
muggy hot temperature of this planet, and motioned for them to crouch down. He handed Cmdr. Maril a small
handheld field scope, who look up with a grin.
"I thought it may come in handy. Look there Sir, to the Northwest, in the front window of that small
building." It its better days, the building had probably been condemned. Now there was another big ugly
Bear-type humanoid apparently standing guard outside. Two old ground cars were parked outside, their final
resting place. | |||
"Now what have we here", said Maril. "A male and female in Starfleet uniforms. I can't make out their faces,
and three... no four Nausicans. Seems we have a Broltar running away". Alex looked to Ens. Lee and to J.C.,
both of which just nodded. Ens. Lee crouched beside Maril, "Sir, can you see what they're doing?..."
J.C. nudged Alex to the other side of the balcony, pausing to look over the edge. They were only up one
story, approx. six meters above ground. Alex looked back to his CO and nodded. Maril lowered the hand scope,
looking at Ens. Lee, "I cannot really tell. They seem to be arguing over something." He turned towards the two
Security Officers, "Mr. Allard, perhaps you... Lee! Where are they?.....

These pirates were more loyal than one would think.
"Look," he said to the group. "You have two options. You can either tell us what you know, and possibly go free; or you can keep quiet and be brought back with us to Starbase Epsilon, where you will be tried for piracy and any other crimes you have committed."
"All we want to know," Jerran added, "is where any other pirate bases are, who comes through your base, that sort of stuff."
Maril stood up. "Keep trying, Scout." Maril smiled at his use of the nickname. "You too, Ensign Lee. I will get a report from Lieutenant Jenn on our situation." Turning over to the security officer in charge of the brig, he ordered, "Tell Lieutenant Jenn I will be up on the Bridge soon."
"Aye, sir," the officer replied.
MD 6.1245<br> | |||
Bridge<br> | |||
Maril listened as Jenn reported on the situation, and pondered what they would do about the Bird of Prey almost right on top of the Typhoon. Then, Jenn fell onto the floor, stopping Maril's train of thought.
"We need to get her to Sickbay," Maril said. It was more of an order than an observation. "Mr. Cartwright, take command for the moment. Computer, emergency beamout to Sickbay."
Maril's mind raced through the options as the transporter beam shimmered around Jenn and himself. They couldn't afford to lose a senior officer, since they were already spread out into at least three different groups and possibly more.
A nurse entered the room as they rematerialized. "Get her better," Maril ordered sharply. "She has a severe headache, which has been going on for quite some time," he added as he practically ran out of Sickbay. The situation was getting worse, not better.
MD 6.1305<br> | |||
Brig<br> | |||
Maril gestured for Jerran to walk over as Maril entered the brig.
"How has it been since I left, Scout?"
"Better. We were able to make them tell us that the Xanthadi sweep through this area every three weeks or so. They don't seem to know where any other pirate bases are, though."
"Did they tell you when the Xanthadi last swept through here?"
The usually confident Jerran swallowed for a second before answering. "Yes, sir, about two and a half weeks ago."
Maril's eyes drifted wearily as he contemplated that fact. "What is the usual size of the Xanthadi fleet?" he said distantly.
"They said it varied. Sometimes only one or two ships came; other times, ten did."
Maril also contemplated that thought, thensnapped out of his daze. "Well, we'll just have to prepare for that, then. Mr. Jerran, I'm putting you in command of the Typhoon."
"Me, sir? There are three other lieutenants on the ship, sir."
"No, Koreth and Meleah are on the surface now, and Jenn is not able to command for the moment. So, you are now in command. I have a plan." He motioned for the security officer to join the conversation.
"Now, two people are going to be beamed into an empty cell, that one," he said to the security officer, pointing to the cell farthest from the other prisoners. "As soon as they rematerialize, I want a forcefield up on that cell. They will not get out. Is that understood?"
"Yes, sir," the officer answered.
"Get the cell set up," he ordered. To Jerran, he said, "I am going to try to trick the Orion and her bodyguard to beam onto the ship. Hopefully, we can then reroute the beam to the brig, where we will have them trapped. You will
stay on the Typhoon, while Ensign Lee and I beam back onto the Bird of Prey. We will coordinate from there."
"Aye, sir. I'll get to the Bridge now."
MD 6.1330<br> | |||
Transporter Room 1<br>
Maril put in the command for a comm link to the Bird of Prey. "This is the Skipper. We've got the ship. You can beam over."
[Finally. But you better have that place secure.]
Maril watched the readout. His fingers flew over the console, trying to reroute the beam to the brig. Unfortunately, the original beam was trying to go the Typhoon's bridge, and the best Maril could do was rerouting it to the transporter room. He was quick to put a forcefield up around the pad, though.
"What? What is this? I'll-" the Pirate Queen's last words were cut off by the
reinitiation of the transporter, which sent her and the bear into the Brig.
Maril tapped his communicator, "Maril to Brig. Do you have them?"
[Yes, sir, they're safely inside the cell.]
"Good. Ensign Lee, I'd like you to get up to Transporter Room 1."
[Yes, sir.] | |||
"Maril out," he closed the communication. Without pausing, he said, "Maril to Bridge. Are you settled in, Mr. Jerran?"
[Yes, sir, we're fine up here.]
"Good. I'll contact you as soon as we're on the Bird of Prey. Maril out."
MD 6.1400<br> | |||
Bird of Prey: Bridge<br>
Maril, Ensign Lee, and some NCOs that Maril had gathered from the Typhoon rematerialized and everyone went to their stations.
"Now, the first thing this ship needs is a new name. If there are no objections, I would like to name it the _batlh 'etlh_, or the _Sword of Honor_."
There were no objections, and so Maril ordered, "Hail the Typhoon."
The Typhoon's Bridge appeared, and Maril started, "We are ready over here. I suggest you head over to the Feynman and the Husnock ship. We will go back to the pirate base."
[Aye, sir. Typhoon out.]
The viewscreen faded, and Maril said, "Set course for the base. I am open to suggestions on how to deal with the remaining pirates."

"Dee, I've already explained that there is nothing stronger, that won't

reasoned with her. | |||
"Are you crazy. And put up with this pain!" had he been much closer she
might have punched that sickening smile off his face. "I'm not getting

"I've already explained to you why we didn't. Had we had more time, the
process might have been completed."
She glared at him, "Yes, but you neglected to check out her medical record

half-functioning telepath! Which is probably why I'm suffering now! Now

Krysa put her hand to her head, and moved to sit up. The nurse pushed her
back down, "Lie still please."
"What am I doing here?" | |||
"You passed out on the bridge. How are you feeling?"
"Better," I think my headache is almost gone.
"That's good. We're going to be transferring you back to the FEYNMAN as
soon as we get close enough."
"No, I'm in command here. I've a job to do." Krysa moved to stand again.
"It's alright, Lt. Jerran is in command."
"Terri?" she chuckled. "You're letting him run the ship?"
"Dr. Glin'kharr thinks your headaches might be due to a drug used to link
you telepathically with another. When used improperly, it has been known to
cause headaches." | |||
Krysa looked at her confused.
"It's a Kzinti drug which allows one person to see everything and learn
everything in someone else's head."
She remembered all the drugs she'd been given when kidnapped on the ring.
She thought they had been only to keep her sedated. What else had they
given her? "I'm feeling much better now. Maybe I should go up and help
Terri while I can. I'll come back at the first signs of a headache."
"I don't think you understand, Lt. There could be someone out there that
knows everything you do. Which means that I am under orders not to allow
you out of Sickbay, until we can transfer you back to the FEYNMAN."
Krysa sat for a moment. She'd never ever thought that she would be a
security risk. But if Glin'kharr was right, she was. There was nothing for
her to do but wait until they could find something to help her. "When will
we reach the FEYNMAN?" | |||
"I can't tell you that. You have to understand."
Krysa nodded and lay back down on the bio bed. It was one thing to be in
command waiting on reports .. it was something else completely to be
confined to sickbay with no information at all.

> "IF you ever..."started Koreth, but stopped. As he rose and dumped<br>
>J.C., the security chief rolled over to expose a deep burn over the<br>
>right side of his chest...<br>
'Damn it' thought Tarrant. A second shot barely missed his head.
A quick look up, and a phaser shot sent the Nausician flailing into a
pile of scrap metal. The piece of power converter sticking out
of his chest indicated that he would be out of the fight.
Tarrant looked down at Allard. The wound was bad, but not
life threatening if he could get the CSO back to the FEYNMAN.
"If you hadn't of tackled me he would have only
grazzed my leg." It was probably true, but the fact still didn't
help Tarrant. | |||
A weak voice replied back, "Nope, it was higher..."
J.C. tried to lift himself up to no avail. In fact he collapsed
again in doing so. | |||
Another blast nearby indicated that their position had been compromised.
Tarrant picked up the wounded officer and slug him over
his shoulder. A slight grunt errupted. "Hold on kid,
we'll get you home." | |||
Taking another view of the situation, the CEO noticed
that Meleah and her crew were pinned down. Two
security personel attempted to out flank the remainig
Nausicians. | |||
One was met by a phaser blast to the arm, effectively
knocking his weapon away.The other placed a well
aimed shot into the attacker's upper torso, effectively
downing him. | |||
Tarrant snuck around to a pile of warp field coils from
some ship he couldn't recognized. Then was amazed for
the slightest moment that in the middle of a firefight
he even attempted to recognize the design.
It was J.C.s shifting that caused him to snap back into
reality, and the fact that their enemy was fireing a phaser
at what seemed like only a few meters from them. The
sound was unmistakable.
Tarrant ripped off J.C.'s comm badge and tossed it over
the pile of junk. Then tapped his own.
"Tarrant to J.C.... FIRE!"
With that the partial klingon spun out from his hiding place.
The nausician had turned and fired at the location of
the thrown communicator. He never saw the blast
which stunned him. | |||

The two figures, clad in their grey environmental work suit,
climbed slowly down the ladder inside the large airlock, the low gravity
making their careful climbing look like a clumsy ballet. "I think my
blood is pooling in my brain." Chief Larocque complained.
"Blood to the brain? That should be a new experience for
you...but your right this is getting a bit monotonous. Look out below!"
With a powerful push Zane floated past his comrade and began the steady
descent to the bottom of the chamber. "Yes this is definitly more like
it." He said with a chuckle as Larocque paused to watch and then allowed
himself to 'fall' from the ladder.
"No wonder your not supposed to leave the ship anymore." He said
trying to pretend he was not enjoying the experience as well.

Scene: Main Engineering, Husnock Ship<br>
"Ok, hand me the comm-relay." Zane stuck a hand out of the
cramped access chute and grasped the small box Mike handed him. His hand
disappeared back into the chute and after a few minutes and some mild
swearing he began to emerge. "Well, thats that done." The two had
installed a small relay device into the Husnok vessel's navigational
computer which would give them partial comtrol over the ship
allowing them to take it back to EPSILON with out towing it. It was
limited though, with little possibility for fine maneuvering. The idea
was to point it at EPSILON and let it go.
"Okay, I'll set up the log retreival unit, you can bomb the engine
core." Zane said with a smile.
"Thanks. You know you'll blow to if this thing goes."
"Yeah but not as bad as the guy holding it." Zane replied.
"Small rewards." | |||
"Take'em where they come."
The two men left the small compartment to finish the job. Unhappy
with his decision to destroy the treasure trove of information. Zane had
decided to enhance the options. During the boarding he and Larocque would
install a navigational relay to control the vessel remotely. But if the
worse case happened and it seemed apparent that Tremain would capture the
ship the tri-cobalt bomb that Larocque was attaching to the side of the
engine core would remove the prize quite efficently and, perhaps, provide
a very large diversion allowing the FEYNMAN to slip away. But as Ensign
Loth of all people had pointed out, as he handed Zane a small device
before he had climbed into the CHARON, it was criminal to loose all the
information that the Husnock ship had to offer. So he had re-designed a
standard log-relay that would read and be capable of sending the Husnock's
logs through the disturbances of the 'sack back to the FEYNMAN for study.
If they did have to destroy the ship at least they would retrieve some of
the information it held.

"Oh yeah." | |||

"Strike the sails and lower the anchor."
Maril frowned thoughtfully. The senior crew of the Feynman had been spread out to a great extent. Lt. Jenn was unable to command, or serve in any way for that matter, considering her severe headache. He hated to leave Jerran on the Typhoon, but somebody had to command it, although this reduced the number of senior officers on the Bird of Prey to two, as Allard had run off before the launch without notifying him. Lieutenants Koreth and Meleah still had not reported back to the Typhoon, and the situation was becoming very dangerous, with no one knowing what anyone else was doing. Hopefully, Jerran would be able to report to the Captain, but that still left them out of contact with Maril and the other officers on the BoP or planetoid.
"We're landing now, sir."
Maril stood up, thankful that the officers who had been in the base before still had their pirate outfits on. "You three," pointing to those officers who were in pirate clothing, "let's get onto the base. Everyone else, I want you to search the ship. Catch any stowaways and report on anything interesting. And do not, repeat do not, let any non-Starfleet personnel on the ship. I don't want the pirates knowing that the vultures are really just canaries in disguise."
As the four "pirates" headed aft to get off the ship, Maril continued. "Everyone still have a sidearm?" The group nodded. "Good. We may need them." After a thoughtful pause, Maril gestured at Ensign Lee and the science officer who had come on the away team. "Once we're settled back in, I want you two to look for our two missing security officers. Take these." He passed a small oblong object to each officer. "They're communicators,
just not ones you're used to. I'm sure you'll figure them out, though."
Maril had to stop there, as they had reached the door which opened to the outside.
They all stepped out into the base's "shuttlebay" and proceeded towards the bar where they had met Shirlea. It was probably where most of the pirates were anyway.
MD 6.1510<br> | |||
Pirate Base: Bar<br> | |||
Maril and the other three officers walked in without notice by anyone else. It seemed that the pirates were in something of a jovial mood, with no one "in charge" after the Orion had left. There was some liquid all over the floor, along with a good share of glass and other materials. A good many of the pirates looked rather intoxicated, from which Maril gathered that they were not drinking synthehol.
"Talarian ale," Maril said with ease, gesturing for the other three to order.
As he grabbed the ale, he took a rather large sip, noting the strange flavor. No time for that, though. Switching the ale to his left hand, he slammed his right fist down on the bar, at the same time yelling, "Listen up, you no-good excuses for pirates!"
The room quieted down for a second. Maril continued, "Look. I threw your 'Queen' into the volcano of Irabda. If you want to go the same way, I can arrange it. Does anyone want that?"
No one answered. | |||
"Then I guess that means I run this place. Does anyone have any objections?"
Again, the room was silent.
"Good. Now, who here is gonna tell me what's been goin' on lately?"

Okay, it *looks* like everything here is under control. Does anyone else get the feeling that we're going to have a better chance against the Grey Fleet? After all, we have a)the Feynman, a Feynman-class destroyer; b)the Typhoon, a Storm(?)-class ship; c)a Husnock ship which has unbelievable power, even if we can't control it<G>; and d)the batlh 'etlh, a Klingon Bird of Prey.

"I know, but this is driving me crazy."
Thankfully, Lt. Jerran came in and helped relieve some of her

She felt the ship rock, "What is he doing up there?" she asked. It

Zane spun in his chair to face the tactical station. "Anything?"
"No sir. Nothing on sensors. Still sending out hails."
Spinning back to face the viewer the Captain frowned. *Where are
they?* He knew that sensors were terrible at best in this mess but the
fact that they had not seen or heard from the TYPHOON in some time
troubled him. He was fully confident of Jerran's ability to command but
their were too many variables that could be stacked against him. Two
hundred captured Starfleet officers with little else to lose, wandering
Xanthandi and pirate patrols, and of course the harshness of the 'sack
coupled with the deficiensies of the TYPHOON.
"How's the data flow from the Husnock vessel?" He decided a new
avenue of thinking was preferable at this point. Worrying about an
unknown would not accomplish anything.
"Information download proceeding normally...we've already received
quite a bit." | |||
"Good." At least that was going well. In fact all intelligence
gathering operations were slowly becoming fruitfull. The ex-pirate and
now Starfleet spy, Mason, had provided them with a rather lengthy list and
Zane had been quite happy to find how detailed it was. With little else
to add Mason had been allowed to transfer to the Bird of Prey so he could
be returned to the pirate base. It remained to be seen if he would
contine to pass information but Zane had a feeling he would.
As a bonus, Maril had downloaded portions of the Bird of Prey's
log to the FEYNMAN before returning to the base. For the most part it as
just a reiteration of what Mason had wriiten but that had actually been
advantageous. Factual information was much better than the word of an
untested turncoat. Either way the information they had gathered would
keep the spooks back at EPSILON busy for months.
Now if they could just find the TYPHOON. As if on cue... "Sir!
We're receiving a signal. There's too much information but I think its
from the TYPHOON." | |||
"Can you localize it?" Zane asked.
"Yes sir. Bearing 329.37."
"Put a tractor on the Husnock vessel but at the first sign of
trouble let it drift. Helm, thats your heading. 1/2 impulse."
"1/2 impulse aye." | |||
Feeling much better now that they had received a signal, albeit an
unintelligable one, from TYPHOON he returned his attention to his arm
console display and began to sift through the files that had already been
downloaded from the Husnock ship. Unable to read the Husnock language
most of the material was just a jumble of characters and symbols, but
there was still much that was easily discerned such as the ships
starcharts. It would seem it backed up the theory that as aggressive as
they once were they were also explorer. That of course made sense, to
contiually conquer you had to continuously push out into the unknown.
"Captain!...." | |||
Instantly alerted by the tone of the TAC officer's voice Zane's
yes sprang up to face the viewscreen. "Oh my God..." On the screen the
port side of a STORM class cruiser tumble silently end over end.
"Survivors?" Zane asked. Perhaps bulkheads had close in time, perhaps
there were pockets of life.
"No readings at all sir." The TAC officer replied after a pause.
"Any sign of the starboard half?" Zane asked quietly, holding on
to a thread of hope. | |||
"Scanning." | |||

Ensign Lee and the science officer began their search for the
missing officers after gathering a few ideas on their whereabouts from
the pirates in the bar. The two decided to split up and stay in touch
by the communicators Maril had given them.
Anna followed the directions given to her by one of the pirates
which were supposed to take her to a buliding where the pirate had saw
a man matching Allard's description; while, the Science officer went
in the direction of the building where the Nausicians had been seen.
Anna quickly came to the realization that she was walking in
circles and the directions given to her were either a joke or a result
of the pirate's intoxication and she decided to go join the science
officer. | |||
As she walked she felt something hit her from behind and fell
unconcious to the ground.
MD: 07.1202 | |||
Lee Anna awoke and realized that she had been
stunned by a type 2 phaser rifle set on a heavy stun. She had only
felt like that once before when an overtrigger-happy prison guard on
Jaros thought Lee was trying to escape. That time Lee had been out
for almost 24 hours. Ensign Lee looked around and noticed that her
phaser and communicator were missing.
Ensign Lee got up and saw that she was still on the path
leading to the Nausician bulding and decied to keep walking towards
it; hoping to meet up with the science officer. Instead she made it
to the building and heard phaser fire from behind it.
She crept over towards the sound while keeping low and saw
Nausicans firing on what appered to be the missing officers. Then she
heard | |||
"Tarrant to J.C.... FIRE!"
and saw Lieutant Koreth stun one of the Nausicians, and realized that
it was indeed the missing officers.
Lee Anna realized that although she didn't have a weapon, she
still had the advantage of not being seen yet. There was one Nausican
close to her, and Anna moved as fast as she could, slamming into one
the Nausician. She then grabbed his arm and snapped it back and took
his weapon. Spinning around, she took cover behind a large rock close to
the warp coils where Lt. Koreth and Ens. Allard were and re-set the weapon
to stun. She then looked around to see if she had a clear shot at any of
the Nausicians. | |||

As the minutes ticked by the thread of hope slowly slid away. No
survivors had been located in the crumbled mess that had once been the
port half of the cruiser. They had since located the similarily damaged
starboard section and all sensors were now painstakingly examining every
centimeter for even a glimmer of life. All that was clear was that
there had been a quick, viscious fight and now a ship and her crew were
dead. And who ever had wrought such havoc was still out there, perhaps
even stocking the FEYNMAN. It couldn't be the pirates, the Captain
thought to himself, that left the Xanthandi as the most likely culprits.
"I'm sorry sir. We've picked up no lifesigns either."
"Very well. Secure from search. Helm, plot a course back to the
Husnock ship, 1/2 impulse." They couldn't even stay for a brief memorial
for the dead. He had the crew of the FEYNMAN to protect from whatever was
out there. | |||
"1/2 impulse aye." | |||
Zane, like the rest of the bridge crew sat in stunned silence.
300 beings dead. It didn't seem real and to some of him it wasn't. How
could it be? His friends and collegues and the GREY fleet crew of the
TYPHOON all gone, they had still given their lives to serve and protect.
What a waste. | |||
A chime rang out behind him. "Captain we're being hailed. Sir!
Its Lt. Jerran!" | |||
It was a struggle to remain impassive and in the end Zane did let
a slight smile cross his lips. "On screen."
The static that flickered across the screen was unable to hide the
sombre expression on Jerran's face. [Captain I regret to inform you that
we were attacked by one of the GREY Fleet vessels and in the ensuing
battle completely destroyed the ROLLING THUNDER. There were no
survivors.] | |||
"What's your status?" Zane asked feeling for him, this would be
with him for sometime. | |||
[We took minor damage. No casulties. I have a more complete
report concerning this and other matters. I suggest sending the text to
you as communications are sporadic and may be monitored.]
"Agreed. Form up along side we're heading back to the Husnock

[Understood. TYPHOON out.]
"Transmission received." The TAC officer announced.
"Transfer it to my ready-room. Ensign Garret you have the
bridge." Zane ordered as he rose.

Setting the plate down on his desk he leaned back in his chair
and sipped his coffee. After reviewing Jerran's entire report twice he
had gone over the logs of the battle again and again. Zane had known his
FCO would have done whatever was necessary to protect his ship but with
such an outcome there would surely be some sort of official inquiry once
they returned to EPSILON. GREY Fleet or not the THUNDER was still a
Starfleet vessel crewed by Starfleet officers. What Jerran had done was
correct but he wanted to be sure there would be no loose ends for some of
Tremaine's supporters to tug on either to gain sympathy for the rest or
out of spite to end Jerran's career. The only argument that they
might have made was that THUNDER had mistakingly fired on TYPHOON
due to the inaccurate sensor readings common to the 'sack but the logs
clearly showed that the THUNDER's captain had hailed TYPHOON and engaged
in coversation with Cartwright before firing.
Content that all the bases were covered Zane turned his mind to
the next problem. What was wrong with Krysa?

Maril walked carefully around the circular room, examining every little detail. The main focus of the room was the large console on a table-like structure in the middle. It displayed a map of the slice of the Coalsack near the pirate base,
complete with other pirate bases and ships. This was truly a remarkable find.
Unfortunately, although the science officer had found his way back to the base, finding nothing, Ensign Lee was still missing. There were now two senior officers missing and two senior officers who had failed to report back for several hours.
Maril looked back over to the engineering officer, who was tinkering with the central console. Maril walked over and yanked one of the officer's hands away. "Listen, I don't want you bothering with this. I want you to look at this map here. Then I want you to see if this Orion woman kept any logs. Understand?"
The NCO nodded slowly, then turned towards the map on the large console. Then he looked in his hand. An information transfer device had been placed in it. He got to work, downloading the map.
Maril would have been nicer and more his usual self if it hadn't been for the two pirates in the room who were standing at the weapons and communications stations. So, he stuck to his pirate persona, keeping their infiltration secret for the moment.
MD 6.2100<br> | |||
Maril continued to watch the map, but nothing was really happening. He knew the Husnock ship was still trapped by the tractor beam, but there wasn't much he could do about that without arousing suspicion, and Koreth and Meleah were dealing with that anyway.
As Maril's eyelids slowly began to close, he noticed a new ship that hadn't been there before. Straightening up and opening his eyes, he focused on that ship. Hmm...a Storm-class ship, the _Rolling Thunder_. It seemed to be approaching the Typhoon's position. Before he could do anything, though, he saw weapons firing.
"What's happening?" Maril snapped to the real pirates.
"Two Storm-class Federation ships are fighting each other!" the one at weapons started laughing. "If we send out a ship now, we could capture them easily."
"I can see that they're fighting, you fool! And as for us capturing them, it's probably a trap. They must have seven starships right out of sensor range. What I want to know is their damage!"
"Umm...the one that attacked was in poor shape already and has taken a lot of damage. Oh, there it goes."
"There what goes?" | |||
"The other one destroyed the attacker's shields and then fired on its starboard nacelle. The attacker didn't have a chance."
Complete with that information, Maril turned back towards the map.
MD 7.0010<br> | |||
Maril was still in the Command Center with the engineering and science officers, but he was tiring. Nothing important had happened since the destruction of the Rolling Thunder, but Maril didn't trust the pirates. If they ever learned that Maril and the others were Starfleet officers, or if they defied Maril in force, Maril would be like Armen thrown off the ship--alone and surrounded by vicious monsters. On top of that, the officers had already downloaded the map and the few logs that had been kept on the base.
"Let's get down to the bar," Maril said, almost smiling, though it was a pure lie. "You two stay here for now," he said as he gestured towards the pirates.
Maril strolled out of the room, followed by the engineering officer and then, the science officer.
As soon as they were away from the pirates, Maril said, "Quickly, over to thhe Bird of Prey. Walk normally, though."
MD 7.0015<br> | |||
Corridor<br> | |||
With Maril leading, the group headed for the batlh 'etlh.
Rounding a curve in the dark corridor, Maril heard footsteps behind and the sound of a phaser rifle being readied for shooting. As he turned, he saw the two pirates who had been in the Command Center running towards them.
"Duck!" | |||
All three followed that advice quickly, but the science officer not fast enough as he was hit in the back.
"You stupid Starfleet!" the man who had been at the communications console cried before he was felled by a phaser beam from the engineering officer.
The other one ran towards them, hoping to hit Maril with his rifle, but Maril had some experience with the bat'telh--though this was much smaller--and he ducked under the pirate's lunge, grabbing the rifle at the same time.
The pirate tuned for another try, but Maril blocked that attempt, pushing him to the side and hitting him in the back with the butt of the rifle. The engineering officer then shot his phaser, resulting in the collapse of the pirate.
Maril walked over to the science officer and helped him stand up. The three of them walked quickly down to the base's shuttlebay, luckily with no resistance.
"That phaser was on stun, right?" Maril asked the engineerng officer.
Glancing down, the officer nervously replied, "Actually, no, it wasn't."
Maril sighed. "Well, we can't deal with that now."
MD 7.0025<br> | |||
Shuttlebay<br> | |||
The three officers raced down the shuttlebay's length and up the walkway, slowed somewhat by the science officer.
Once inside the Bird of Prey, Maril quickly contacted the bridge. "Maril to Bridge. Get us out of this base as quickly as possible."
[Aye, sir.] | |||

"We've cleared the shuttlebay, sir, but several one-man assault bees have followed us and have opened fire."
"How much are we damaged?"
"Not much, sir, but if we continue to stay in the atmosphere, they'll keep on damaging us, and we can't get any hits on them, because they're so small and maneuverable."
"Very well. Pull us up out of the atmosphere and engage the cloak. Just before you do, just send out a warning volley with the disrupters."

> to stun. She then looked around to see if she had a clear shot at any of<br>
> the Nausicians.<br> | |||
Anna, Koreth and Allard managed to form a ring around the
Nausicians who formed a ring around the other officers. A brief
fire-fight followed, in which the rest of the Nausicians
were stunned, and one security officer badly injured. Meleah and the
other security officers came out of hiding.
"Well, that takes care of them," said Allard, breathing heavily.
As Meleah looked at the officer, she saw the wound to his chest and
reacted accordingly. | |||
"You are in no shape to continue, Ens." She turned to Koreth.
"I believe we have completed our mission, Lt. We now need to get back to
the ship." She, and the others, realised that because communications
were down, they had no way of contacting the ship, and if they tried to
send a message from the pirate base, the pirates would descend on them
like a swarm of bees (metaphorically speaking).
Koreth turned to Anna. "Ens, are there any other Starfleet
officers on the surface?"
"Cmdr Maril was down here when I left. I don't know whether he
still is," she said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"You," he commanded, pointing to one of the security officers,
"accompany Ens Lee back to the base." He looked at one of the
Nausicians. "You can take his clothes. He won't be needing them for a
while." | |||
The security officer quickly got changed, and the two headed off
towards where the Bird of Prey was, where Anna thought might be a good
place to start looking.
Meleah looked at the four injured officers. One of them was
pretty bad and would most likely die unless they got back to the ship
soon. Allard was beginning to look a little white as shock set in.
Using strips from the pirates clothes, she made some bandages to cover
the injuries on the officers, which would help until they reached the
FEYNMAN or TYPHOON. | |||
Easily lifting the most injured officer, they started off around
the corner - very, very cautiously. Koreth stuck his head partway around
the next corner and quickly pulled it back when he saw who was there. He
gestured for Meleah to look, and subtly she did. There, sitting in a
land speeder, were two Starfleet officers - who weren't getting shot at.
The two officers were no more than 70 meters away from where Meleah was,
and she could just make out that the individuals were highly ranked,
before Koreth pulled her back.
"I think we could be in trouble." As Koreth said this, Allard
peeked around the corner also, and recognized the officers which he had
seen earlier. He pulled his head back and said as much to the other two.
Meleah considered the possibilities in a split second. She
decided the most logical course of action would be to try and go around,
but then, they didn't really know where they were going anyway.

"We have to assume that Commander Maril is either caught or has
left the surface." said Koreth in a hushed tone.
"Agreed," replied Meleah, "thus we are left with two apparent options.
One - obtain a vessel with which to return to the Feynman or Typhoon..."
"And face whatever retalatory actions present by the pirates." added
J.C. He was struggling to remain helpful. The chest wound started the

give a knowing look at each other.
"Two, " continued Meleah, "we contact the one of our ships and
coordinate a rescue plan."
Koreth shook his head. Neither option was too apetizing. The
pirates greatly outnumbered them. And just the fact that they

"It's about time," she said with a smile of relief. "I'm starting to
go crazy in here." | |||
"Yeah, I bet in actuality you're driving her crazy," Terri said

"Well, get me out of here." Krysa said heading toward the door of

"They're taking her out of Sickbay, maybe now we'll get somewhere,"
the woman said. | |||
"I certainly hope so, Dee. Cause every lead we've followed so far has
been a dead end. I want the FEYNMAN and I want them now."
She looked at him, "You're beginning to sound a little obsessed now,
Tremaine." | |||
"Of course, I'm obsessed, they've ruined every plan I had! And if
they make it back to Epsilon, we're finished."
"You're finished anyway, you just don't know when to quit."
Tremaine struck out, his hand making a crisp crack as it landed on
her face. Her eyes flashed with anger as she grabbed his offending
arm twisting it behind his back, while pulling the phaser from his
belt and pushing it into his back.
"Didn't your mother ever teach you that you shouldn't hit girls. It
can cost you your life." She pushed him with her foot firing the
phaser as he turned to face her. She watched as he dropped to the
ground. The doctor stood gaping at her. "Opps," she said with a grin
and ran out of Sickbay. | |||
Checking the phaser, she groaned to see it was only set at stun.
Quickly setting it higher she ran on down the corridor. As she
listened to the sound of her footfall through the empty corridors,
her head began pounding again and she saw the transporter beam take
her just before she leaned against the wall, closing her eyes.
She opened to find that she hadn't transported at all. It was the
transporter beam that had taken Krysa from the TYPHOON to the
FEYNMAN. Suddenly Dee smiled, as an idea popped into her head.

Krysa walked in to Sickbay with a groan. Having just spent the better
part of a day in the USS TYPHOON's sickbay she wasn't looking forward
to spending more time in the FEYNMAN's. Especially not with a doctor
there to stand over her and pinch and prick her to find the problem
"Another head ache I hear, Lt." said Dr. Glin'kharr as she walked in.
"Guess it was a little more then the pinch I got on the neck." She
joked though the pounding that had started up again during the
transport. | |||
Glin'kharr simply looked at her with a slight tilt of his head and
motioned for her take a seat on the bio bed. "I'm going to run some
blood tests and see if we can find any traces of these drugs."

Dee snuck around behind the ensign on duty, slamming the phaser over
his head. She watched as he slumped to the ground, then quickly
stepped into the nearest ready shuttle and started the engines.
She maneuvered the shuttle out of the shuttlebay. Once she was out of
distance of the PHOENIX, she began transmitting a federation distress
signal, hoping that luck would be with her today and that she would
be found by the FEYNMAN.

"What are your findings, Doctor," asked Zane.
<It's definitely the Kzinti mind drugs. But there more to it then
that. I can purge the drugs from her system, but there's still some
sort of link that I haven't been able to explain yet.> Glin'kharr's
voice growled over the comm pin.
"Let me know when you do," said Zane.
The Captain sat in silence for a few minutes contemplating the
doctor's information, when it was interrupted by the bridge, <Sir,
we're picking up a distress signal. Federation in origin.>
"I'll be right there." Zane stood and headed out to the bridge.
Looking at Garret, who was sitting at Ops he asked, "Can you put it
on screen." | |||
"I'm trying, sir. But unfortunately the 'sack is still giving us
difficulties." Garret worked her console a bit longer and the
viewscreen changed from a static filled starfield to a static filled
interior of a Federation Shuttlecraft.
"This is Commander Zane of the USS FEYNMAN."
<Well, it's about time,> came a familiar voice, thought he still
couldn't make out the face behind all the static.

Tremaine rose from the deck and groaned from the nauseous
aftereffects of a close range stun. If it were not for the two nurses
supporting him on either side he would have collapsed to the floor. The
doctor, facing him, quickly ran a bio-scanner up and down the length of
his body. Satisfied with the readings he pushed a hypo-spray into his
neck. "Your lucky it was a low setting."
Relief swelled through his body and Tremaine stood straighter.
"Where is she?" he demanded.
"She ran out of here before we even realized what was happening.
I've alerted security." The doctor looked hopeful. "There's nowhere she
can go." | |||
[Bridge to Captain.] | |||
"Tremaine here have you got her?"
[Search still in progress sir. Captain Peterson wishes to speak
to you.] | |||
"What the hell is he doing out of position?" The fact that
Peterson was able to contact Tremaine meant that the ARGONAUT was no
longer patrolling the opposite side of the 'sack and therefore out of
communication range. | |||
[He didn't say sir. Just that it was urgent.]
Tremaine grunted. "Route it down to the doctor's office."
The face of Captain Peterson was already staring out from the
screen as Tremaine entered the office. "You better have a damn good
reason for not being on station Bart. If that ship slips by I'll..."
Peterson calmly interrupted another of Tremaine's tirade's
[THUNDER is gone.] | |||
Tremaine simply stared back at the screen as he struggled to calm
himself. "What do you mean gone?"
[We just picked up his last marker buoy. It seems he has taken
it upon himself to go after Rimmer and TYPHOON. He said he didn't want to
wait around for Rimmer to take all the glory. The damn fool has pledged
to find and take the FEYNMAN inside the sack.]
Tremaine dropped down into the chair. It was some time before he
spoke again. "We'll have to reposition ourselves. Our only hope is to
place ourselves between the nebula and EPSILON and that the FEYNMAN
doesn't head elsewhere."
[Agreed. With ARGO's speed problems I think we should move away
from the sack to build in a little reaction time. Once they emerge you
can intercept and engage and then I'll bring ARGO in. Any other way and
she'll simply slip by and leave us in her dust.]
"Very well. Signal when your in position. PHOENIX out." As the
image of Peterson was replaced by the standard Starfleet Medical insignia
the Tremaine's communicator chimed again. "Tremaine."
[Captain, we've just picked up a shuttle leaving the ship at high
speed.] | |||
"Tractor it." Tremaine ordered.
[Its out of range.] | |||
"Use phasers and disable." He demanded.
[Its out of weapon's range.]
"Then pursue it!" Tremaine Screamed, his body shaking.
[Captain....the shuttle will enter the sack before we can
overtake.] | |||
Surprisingly Tremaine's voice was quite calm.. "Commander how did
a shuttle escape you?" | |||
[We didn't pick it up on sensors until it was too late, nor did
the shuttle deck report an unauthorized launch. I'm sorry sir.]
Tremaine picked up the PADD lying on the doctors desk and with a
primal scream flung it into the wall.

Meleah's expression changed to one of concern. She recognized the signs
well enough. If Allard didn't get treatment of his wounds soon, he would
become more delusional, and eventually die. They needed to do something
fast. Meleah thought quickly. She took out her tricorder and scanned the
building nearby. It appeared to have some communications equipment inside.
All they needed to do was get inside. And the easiest way would be through
the back door.... | |||
Several minutes later, the away team arrived at the 'back door'. Meleah was
carrying Allard over her shoulder as he was fully unconcious by that time.
Koreth went in first, carefully scanning to see if there was anyone in
there. Luck seemed to be with the team as life-signs readings were nil.
Looking into the first room, Koreth saw that it was full of junk, like the
other building. The next room looked more promising. Inside it were
ceiling-high computers and communication systems. While some of the team
stood guard near the door, Meleah and Koreth had a look around. The former
found a communications access panel while the latter was looking for
transporter controls. Not that they could actually beam anywhere without
knowing where the ships were but just in case they needed it.
Using her highly intelligent brain, and special intrigue program, Meleah
managed to send a message off to the Feynman. Then all they could do was
sit and wait for the Feynman to reply.

There was a pause.[It'll take a few minutes].
"Keep me informed." | |||
Five minutes later, Richards called again. [It appears that the code is one
of Lt. Meleah's that she uses to communicate with the ship. It gives the
co-ordinates of the away team, and requests that they be beamed up
immediately. It appears that there are several casualties.]

paused when he saw the state Allard was in. Because the two cases were both
important, he was undecided for a moment which one to do first.
"Lt," he addressed Meleah, "Do you have any medical skills?"
"Yes," she replied. | |||
"Good." He gave her a brief run down on Krysa's condition while he surveyed

Maril was contemplating the next move. They had been chased off the planetoid by a group

many on the Feynman could testify to Maril's toughness. Besides the fact that Maril didn't like giving up so easily, there were four officers missing down there.

"Set a course for it. Full impulse. Maril to Engineering."

"Yes, it's a nice ship, sir. I have a map of the area and some logs from the pirate base which we can send over. One injured crewman as well."
[Very well. Beam the officer over and start the data transfer. What are your plans, Commander?]
"Plans, sir?" Maril paused for a second, confused. "Oh. Well, I intend to find the four missing officers as soon as a new phaser bank is installed."
[Why do you have to wait for a new phaser bank?]
"When we escaped from the pirate base, the pirates sent out a squadron of assault bees to pester us. We had to leave the atmosphere since they were too small to hit with the disrupters."
[I see. Alright, you go get our officers off the planetoid as soon as possible. Feynman out.]
MD 7.1020 | |||
Maril walked from station to station, examining each meticulously. It wasn't necessary, but Maril was bored and he had to do something.
[Engineering to Bridge. The phaser bank is installed. I wouldn't push it too hard, though.]
"Understood. Good job. Maril out." He paused for a second before sitting down and speaking again. "Helm, set a course for the planetoid. Full impulse. Tactical, disengage the cloak as soon as we hit the atmosphere."
MD 7.1030 | |||
"We're entering the planetoid's atmosphere, sir."
"You know what to do, Tactical."
"Yes, sir. Disengaging cloak. Squadron 2 kilometers to our port."
"Helm, set course, heading 043, mark 332, away from the squadron."
"Sir, it's not just assault bees anymore. They've got some larger ships now, slightly larger than runabouts."
Maril frowned at the news. "Helm, take us about, and then full stop. Tactical, arm disrupters."
"Disrupters armed and ready, sir."
"Do not throw your lightning until you know what you're hitting. In other words, wait for them to fire."
The officer at Tactical frowned. "But, sir, we have the advantage now."
"Carry out my orders." | |||
Though Maril's voice was firm and calm, sweat was appearing on his forehead. Despite his long tenure as the Feynman's XO, he had rarely been put in a combat position without the Captain on the Bridge. Even then, it had always been on the Feynman. This was a new ship to Maril. Would it withstand the onslaught of the pirates?
The ship shook slightly. "Minor damage from one of the assault bees, sir."
"Lock disrupters on one of the large ships and fire when ready," Maril ordered, tensing up a bit.
The ship shook again, this time a little harder. "We destroyed the ship we fired at, but another of those large ships hit us."
"Use the disrupters on any large ships in range and use the phaser to knock out any of the assault bees you can."
"Aye, sir." | |||
"Helm, take us, heading 082, mark 29, quarter impulse," Maril ordered.
"Three assault bees destroyed, sir! Only five more assault bees left."
"Again, heading 247, mark 321."
"Another large ship destroyed. There's only one of those left," the officer at Tactical reported crisply.
"Heading 097, mark-" | |||
Before Maril could utter the last number, he was thrown from his chair, though luckily not into any large objects.
"Report!" Maril ordered sharply, though with less of an edge than he usually did.
"The remaining larger ship got in a good shot on us. It knocked out our transporters and our shield generators."
Reorganizing himself, Maril sat back down and ordered wearily, "Set a course so that we're facing the last larger ship. Continue to fire on the assault bees and on the large ship when we're in range."
"Aye, sir. Firing disrupters. Direct hit! It's not destroyed, but it looks like it will crash."
"How many assault bees are left?"
"Three, sir; they shouldn't be too much of a problem with our phaser beam pointed at them."
"Very well, start searching for our missing officers. If the assault bees try to stab us in the back, fire a few warning shots. If those don't work, you can destroy them."

As Meleah headed off to Sickbay with Allard, Tarrant rushed to
the bridge. A lot had happened and he needed to catch up...
When he entered the bridge though the CEO was surprised
to find no Zane and no Maril. In fact the bridge seemed to
be manned by all junior officers. Tarrant frowned.
Mr. Garret stood up upon Tarrant's entering. "Sir."
Once again the taste of command seemed sweet, but there
were more pressing matters. "Stand down Garret. You still
have the bridge, but I need the rundown."
"Sir? From when?" the look on his face said that there
was a few stories to tell.
As much as Tarrant would have
rather gone through the logs, he felt a tinge of urgency.
"From when I left with Lt. Meleah to disengage that tractor
beam." | |||
Garret whistled, "Well....."
MD: 7.1320 | |||
The current situation all told, the partial Klingon felt as if he
had missed a lot. | |||
There were many things which could be done that
Tarrant would have loved to dive into had they more
time and better circumstances.
The Husnock logs had just about filled up the Feynman's
single computer core. But by their readings, it only amounted to
about 38% of the Husnock's total data. Tarrant shuddered
to think of scuttling the vessel.
Likewise, Cmdr. Maril had found himself a Bird of Prey.
Tarrant had trained in many different classes of
the Klingon ship back in his days with the KDF. Besides
of which he could read Klingon. Both of which
could proove useful. | |||

Dee stepped out of the shuttle and approached the Captain of the
FEYNMAN. Zane knew she wasn't Krysa, but he could see how someone
would be easily fooled.
"How nice of you to have me back," she smiled, moving toward him.
"Would you like to see your old quarters," Zane said tightly.
She laughed, "Aren't you the funny one today, considering the
importance of my visit."
"Oh, yes, you did mention that you were the only one who could help
us. Though I can't for the life of me figure out how."
"Come now, I know better then that. Do you really think we only share
a face?" She gloated knowing she had him, "Perhaps we should go
somewhere a little more private for a chat."
Zane nodded, leading her into a training room used by the flight
control depart, which was just off the flight deck. The two entered
and Zane turned to face her. "Now tell me who you are and what it is
you think you can do for Krysa."
"Who I am isn't important, but you," she said coyly, "can call me
Dee. As for your Krysa, I know what I can do for her, because I know
what was done to her .. and to me." she said circling him. A smile
played across her lips as she ran a hand lazily down his arm.
"What was done to her?" he asked pulling away slightly.
She chuckled slightly, "Well, before I answer that, there are a few
things which I want." | |||
Zane stiffened. He had been expecting this. "What do you want?"
"Must we be so business-like," she teased him, "Can't we be
friendly." | |||
"Friendly? Somehow this just doesn't seem friendly to me." Zane said
"Come now, Captain. Haven't you ever wanted to stop being a captain
and just have some fun? What about this face," she asked, taunting
him, "haven't you ever wanted .."
"That's enough." His eyes narrowed, "I don't have time for your
games. If you aren't going to help, I may as well take you to the
brig now." | |||
Krysa's face pouted, "Very well, Captain. I will tell you how to help
your Krysa." A twisted smile formed. "But in return, I want a fully
stocked and ready go runabout. Along with escort out of 'sack and
protection from the PHOENIX. Once I'm on my way safely, I'll given
you what you need to stop dear Krysa's head from exploding."

Zane laughed. "Oh is that all? Your sure you'd rather not just

"Well," She replied as she slid behind him and glanced over his

Zane moved around the desk. "You don't honestly believe I'm going

"You are if you want to keep poor Krysa around. Remember Captain

Zane stared back at her wondering if she could indeed read his

"Oh, and what makes you think I care what you think?" asked Zane
still pulling her along.
"Well, alright but don't say I didn't warn you. I'm sure you'll be
sad when Krysa's gone, but even sadder when you realize it's your

He stopped, turning to look at her, still tightly grasping her arm,
"What are you talking about?"
"I already told, Captain. Unless I get what I want Krysa doesn't get

She smiled, "So you're the type of man who needs proof. I would have
thought better of you."
"You certainly can't blame me as I stand here looking at a woman with
a stolen face," he retorted.
"Oh," she feigned, "now that does hurt." His grip loosened enough for
her to shake his hand away. But she didn't run. "Okay so you and I
both know that this face doesn't belong to me. Nor does the voice, or
the hair. It was all done as a ruse. Granted a failed one, but that
can be blamed on the stupidity of those in charge. I did my part."
"What was your part? I have to admit I've been curious."
"Oh, no, Captain. That's all in the past. I'm only interested in the
future and where I would best be served." She sighed. "I'll give you
the proof you need, and then we'll talk seriously." She closed her
eyes briefly, as she visualized what Krysa was seeing and feeling.
"Go ahead, call Sickbay. See how she's doing."
Zane tapped his comm badge, "Zane to Sickbay, how's Krysa?"
<Not so good, right now. She was just hit with another severe
headache.> came Glin'kharr's voice, <I'm going to have to sedate her
in order to stop it.> | |||
"Any idea what's causing it?"
<It's partially due to the drugs I talked to you about earlier .. but
we've been working on purging her system of the drugs. Still without
warning the headaches come on. I haven't figured out the reason yet.>
"Very well, do what you have to." Zane frowned at the woman in front
of him who stood looking very smug. She set her jaw to keep her own
pain from showing. After years of practice she was pretty good at it.
"Stop it, now. Leave her alone." He said.
She stopped, immediately feeling the pain beginning to go away. She
was glad that the error they had made was coming in handy. She looked
around the corridor briefly then turned her eyes back to Zane's. Her
voice dropped to barely a whisper, "I know your secret wish, and I
can make it come true." She moved closer to him. "I can make her into
anything you want. All it takes is the right thought planted in the
right place." | |||
She reached out and lightly touched his face, "All you have do is
give me what I want, and it's all yours. Not a the fake .. but the

"But you want to." Dee replied firmly.
"I would never agree to it." He reaffrimed, stronger this time.

can't possibly find it."
"I'm sure Dr. Glin'kharr would be able to find what powers you

"And by then Krsya would be gone, victim to a very painful death.
Is a runabout worth it?"
It wasn't. "How do I know you'll fulfill your word?"
"You don't." She smiled smugly. "But what choice do you have?"
Zane frowned. *Very little choice.* He thought. *Alright you
win.* | |||
"See, I knew you'd see it my way."
[Tarrant to Zane.] | |||
"Zane here. Welcome back Lieutentant." At least that was one
problem out of the way. The junior officers had all performed incredibly
but Zane was greatly relieved to have some experience up on the bridge.
[Thank you Captain.] | |||
"What is it you need Mr. Koreth?" He asked a little exasperated
due mostly to the smugly smiling Dee standing in front of him.
[Actually sir, orders.]
"Signal the TYPHOON we're heading home and they are to form up
with us. Set course for the edge of the 'sack 1/2 impulse. Ensign Garret
can explain our nav link to the Husnock ship. Have we heard from
Commander Maril lately?"
[No sir.] | |||
"Well I'm sure he's lurking out there somewhere and he'll catch
up. I don't want to press our luck by staying here any longer. Zane
out." | |||
"Now you were saying Captain...." Dee asked innocently.
"If you help Krysa I'll let you go but I can't let you take a
runabout or any other Starfleet vessel. But on EPSILON you can get
transport to anywhere in the galaxy."
"With what I'm offering you..."
"Lets be clear. What I'm asking for is for my operations officer

"What do you think?" Krysa asked Lt. Meleah.
"I am not a doctor. I can not determine that at this time."
Krysa sighed, "Well don't feel bad. Dr. Glin'kharr's been stumped as
well." She turned at the sound of Sickbay door opening again. Her
eyes grew wide as she stared at Commander Zane walking in with ..
herself. She'd been told about the woman who bore her face, but she'd
never seen her and it was uncanny.
"Hello, Krysa, guess it's about time we met, isn't it." Krysa frowned
at the woman, who simply shrugged it off with a wry grin. "Don't
worry, I'm here to help."
Dr. Glin'kharr approached, "What's going on?"
"She says she can help Lt. Jenn."
Glin'kharr reached for his tricorder, but Dee held out her hand,
"Don't doctor. I'll tell you all I can, so there's no need. But
first, Krysa and I have a little business. So Captain, why don't you
take all of you officers out of here and explain to your doctor, our
little deal and I'll have Krysa all better in no time."
"I'm not going anywhere." Protested Glin'kharr.
Dee glared at him, "Now listen to me, you can't help her .. Can you?
You don't have a clue what's going on here. I do and I can. Now get
out and let me do it." | |||
"I will not allow.." Glin'kharr began growling at the woman.
Zane put his hand on the wolf's arm, "We aren't leaving."
Dee frowned, "Very well, Captain. You and the doctor may stay, but I
want everyone else out."
"But .. sir!" Glin'kharr started to protest again, but saw Zane nod
to the woman. The doctor called his people together and sent them out
of Sickbay. | |||
Zane turned to Meleah, "We need to locate Cmdr. Maril again. Why
don't you see if you can help with that." The android nodded and
headed toward the bridge.
Zane looked back at Dee. She dramatically threw him a kiss, and
winked. He frowned, "Just remember our deal .. nothing funny."
Krysa turned to look at her double, "What did you do to me?"
Dee laughed, "I didn't do anything to you. But I know those who did
and I know what they did."
"Who are you? And how is it that you have my face."
"You can call me Dee, for that's the name I'm using today. As for
your face .. I was hired to wear it. The original plan was to take
you out and replace you with me."
"At the ring." | |||
Dee nodded, "Unfortunately, your counselor realized I wasn't you
early on and that plan was ruined. So they came up with an alternate
plan. To link your mind to mine, so that I would know everything that
you did, no matter how far apart we were. It worked for a time." She
smirked noticing Krysa look of distaste, "How do you think Gray fleet
was so precise in their timing.
"Bur unfortunately, unknown to us, you aren't a very good telepath."
She chuckled, while Krysa grimaced. This woman definitely knew
Krysa's mind. She knew exactly where to throw her jabs. "That's why
all the headaches. If you weren't a handicapped telepath, you never
would have know I was watching through your eyes, and your thoughts."
"What about all the drugs?"
"We did use Kzinti mind drugs to help facilitate the process, that's
probably why it worked so well at first, despite your obvious flaws.
Course we did have try them out on a test subject first. I am sorry,
Doctor. Didn't know you were allergic." She grinned, but Krysa just
frowned at her. Glin'kharr growled, as Dee quipped, "You Starfleet
are all alike, no sense of humor."
"You think it's funny, playing with people's lives like this!" Krysa
retorted. | |||
"It pays the bills." Dee said quickly. "Besides, I'm here to help. In
return I get safe passage and a new face."
"So how do you break this link."
"That's the easy part, my dear. Give me your hand." Krysa held out
her right hand to the woman, and Dee smirked, "The other one, Krysa.
The one with the ring." | |||
Hesitantly Krysa held out her hand to the woman, glancing briefly at
the ring she still wore. The one she had received from Kavan on the
day of their marriage. | |||
Dee promptly grabbed the ring, pulling it off, "Hey!" Krysa
protested. | |||
She handed the ring to the Doctor. "If you study this, you'll see
it's been fused with an imprint of a combination of our brain
patterns. It's been made into a type of transmitter/receiver of
telepathic energies. As long as it's in contact with her skin, I can
read her." | |||
"That's it!" Krysa said incredulously. "My ring!"
Dee shrugged, "Simple isn't it. Oh, they were worried when I told
them your husband was dead. They figured you'd take it off. But I
knew better and I was right. Poor guilty little Krysa, who got
married to please Daddy."
Krysa glared at the woman. She turned to Zane, "You aren't just going
to let her go after all she's done are you?"
Zane nodded, "We made a deal."
Dee chuckled, "That's right and I've kept my part. Now I want to talk
to your doctor about my new face."
