"Captain, sensors just picked up a D-warp shuttle 'dropping' in to
this sector."
"Slow to impulse Mr. Jerran."
"Aye sir." The FCO replied
Zane spun in his chair 45 degrees to face the FO directly. Of
course it would have been easier just to turn his head but he was
determined to utilize the chairs full 'efficiency'.
Onta chuckled. "You are like Tepoth at the carnival."
Zane returned the smile. "So what do you think? A SCI or CNS?"
The FO considered the question. "A science officer would be most
beneficial at this time but..."
"...but you don't think the Admiral will trust us with anymore."
"Sir the shuttle is hailing us."
"Well I guess we'll know in a moment."
> "USS FEYNMAN, this is the shuttle TIBERIUS. I have a passenger on board for<br>
> you," stated the Ensign.<br>
><br>
> [TIBERIUS, this is Cmdr Zane. Is that the new Science Officer?]<br>
><br>
> "Yes, it is," replied Meleah. "I am Lt Meleah."<br>
><br>
> [Prepare to beam over...]<br>
><br>
> "Cmdr, I have a child with me who will need to come aboard also."<br>
><br>
> [Understood, Lt.]<br>
><br>
> Place: FEYNMAN's bridge<br>
><br>
> Cmdr Zane turned to LtCmdr Maril. "Go to transporter room 2 and meet them."<br>
><br>
> "Aye, sir."<br>
"The new personnel are on board sir." The CSO announced.
"Mr. Jerran, resume course and speed."
"Warp 6, aye sir."
As the TIBERIUS' pilot indulged himself in a lazy turn to reset
his jump back to EPSILON, the FEYNMAN's two nacelle's raised themselves
into position. In a flash both were gone.
As the turbolift doors closed on the departing Commander Maril,
Zane rose to stretch his legs. He walked around to the SEC/TAC-Sciences
section and peered at some of the displays. Allard was busy running
battle simulations based around some of the pre-programmed evasive
maneuvers that Jerran had given him. At the science station Ensign Loth
seemed busy reviewing and cataloguing the information that the DELPHI
Array was providing of the 'Sack.
"Any useful information yet Ensign?"
"No sir." Loth replied curtly his eyes not leaving the display.
Zane smiled to himself. He had heard about the run-in that Dr. Glin'kharr
had had with the ASCI. Not surprising that Loth was disappointed he
didn't get the SCI slot but it was surprising the way he was taking it.
Of course his fitness report said it all, 'brilliant researcher, no social
skills, little respect for chain of command'. The new SCI would
definitly have her hands full with Loth. That was assuming she kept him
in his current slot. It was more likely that she would choose someone
else in the department, who was more compatible, to become her assistant.
"Zane to sickbay."
[Sickbay, Br. Glin'kharr here.]
"Good news doctor! Our new SCI just beamed aboard so we won't be
needing you overseeing the sciences anymore."
[Thank the stars! Another day having to interact with that....
'person'... and one of us would have strangled the other.]
Zane stifled a laugh as Loth visibly stiffened. "Urr...I guess
we're doubly lucky then," he couldn't resist, "I'd hate to see our CMO
sitting in the brig. Zane out."
"Mr. Jerran?"
"Sir?" Jerran replied, exchanging a quick glance at Lt. Jenn
beside him. Both knew the Captain was antsy, he hated the time it took to
get to a patrol area especially when a crucial mission was at hand.
There was nothing more annoying than an antsy captain who constantly
bothered then with 'are we there yet' type questions.
"ETA to the 'sack?"
Jenn hid a smile from Zane as Jerran answered. "ETA is 63 hours
37 minutes."
"Thank-you lieutenant. Lieutenant Jenn?"
"Yes captain?" She replied.
Zane knew that he was getting on their nerves by the slight edge
in his second officers voice. He hated having nothing to do. He decided
to spare them and changed the question he had orginally planned on asking.
"I'll be in my ready-room you have the bridge."
"Aye sir." She replied relieved.

Melanie: Ens Loth is currently the assistant SCI and is an NPC played by
no one specifically, and as you can see has a bit of an attitude
problem. As I said in the NRPG I sent you its your department
so you can keep Loth or come up with a new assistant.
All: I'll send out a post tomorrow morning with us entering the 'Sack.
Mike D: Thanks for the brief...that answers alot of questions and gets my
mind wandering....(run for cover;>)
Respectfully,<br>
