B. Background Summary:

Martin was raised by his mother who had been married to his father when he and his older brother were born.
She divorced his father when he was two, and after the divorce was raised by her and her parents. His mother never remarried. He took an interest in music at an early age and learned to play the saxophone in grade school. He still enjoys playing to this day but rarely finds the time.


After graduation from high school, Martin was accepted into Star Fleet Academy, in San Francisco, largely due to his school record and his father being a Starfleet Officer and in part to the influence of a family friend, a former Admiral who was still well-connected and able to grant favors for a friend. At Academy, Martin blossomed, dividing his time between his studies, golf and music.

Martin’s father was not a significant presence in his life growing up, but since he entered Starfleet Academy, has re-established a relationship with his father.
